Work Text:
Once in an Electric Blue Moon
On the balcony,
among the cold concrete:
Wings of a digital fairy,
Lines of pixie binary.
Intertwined, the verdant vines,
sprouting, climbing,
like nylon heartstrings, carefully sewn.
Eyes closed,
dive down into the night,
wind swirling air, taking flight, plunging
across the railings, argent chrome,
and past the glass ceilings, freely roam,
to cubicles of ticking time,
on the glass panels where the shadows mime.
The hearts of clear lucite,
beating, beating,
to sine waves of the tides;
tinkling, tinkling,
turning gears of crystalline mind.
In the city, in the night,
bulbs shimmer in the shadow,
curtains blanket for their window.
Through the opalescent glass,
in the moonlight the city basks.
In a silent trance,
the city is lonely yet so fine.
Blue with the moonlight,
window nebulas sparkling
like the foam of tides.
Humming to the tune
of ambient fleeting,
gently embracing
the murmur of epiphany.
It’s a synthesized reality,
fragile and pretty.
Tied to the ground yet floating,
the present is a thin line, weaving
between the eternal past
and the moonlit future.
Once in an electric blue moon,
let the lucite heart free,
reach deep into its core,
and allow the nylon heartstrings
to grow along the shore.
