Work Text:
A lot of people come for séances.
They don’t usually leave things behind.
“You forgot your… this,” Lupe calls, and reaches for the forgotten tripod. Her hand goes right through it.
Lupe tries to stop the girl from opening the door, but of course, Lupe just dematerializes while the girl traipses through, and then gradually re-forms when she’s gone. Lupe looks even more irritated than before.
Jess snickers. “Howdy, neighbor,” she says. “I’m Jess.”
Lupe sighs, looking at Jess speculatively.
“I’m Lupe,” says Lupe, which Jess already knows. Jess already knows most things. “I cover the Romanovs, baseball, and sex with women. There are a couple others I’m still getting certified for.”
“Hold up,” Jess says, “those are mine. Sex with women and baseball. And many others that I’m already certified for.”
“They’re big topics,” Lupe points out, reasonably. “They probably come up a lot. All hands on deck.”
But Jess doesn’t want to be reasoned with, because she’s feeling protective and also insulted. And because Lupe is hot, and here, and Jess is hungry about it.
“If you’re so new, how’d you get sex with women?” Jess demands. It’s an honor she’ll defend to the death. Possibly already has.
“Because I’m good at it,” Lupe answers, watching Jess intently.
“Oh yeah?” Jess looks Lupe up and down. Lupe picks up the spark of Jess’s energy, squaring up to Jess, her eyebrow raised like a question she knows the answer to.
“What are your other topics?” Lupe asks, and she’s looking at Jess’s mouth.
“Carpentry,” Jess murmurs, drawing closer to Lupe, letting the magnetism pool between them, a compressed heat that has sweat gathering at her hairline. Lupe looks flushed, her breath catching. “Farming,” Jess continues slowly. “Sailing. Fishing. Astronomy, geology. Venn diagrams. Violin plots. Birdwatching. Horticulture...”
Lupe makes a noise as Jess keeps listing off topics in a low rasp, soft and authoritative. Lupe’s eyes are dark and shining, hungry, her cheeks pink.
Jess’s insides feel fluttery. Lupe’s energy is seeping into her, turning Jess heavy and languid, her words slowing, because there’s more important things, until –
“Wait a second,” Lupe says hoarsely, tilting her head like she’s listening. Fucking Boogle. “Did you get that one?”
“Of course,” Jess answers, “Someone wants to see great tits.”
Lupe looks at her suggestively, like she has great tits of her own that Jess could see. Jess files that away for later.
“Wait,” Jess says triumphantly. “Guess this one is mine.” Great TIT BIRD is clearly a birdwatching question, or a lazy attempt to look like one.
Jess blips away to answer, and when she comes back, Lupe looks composed. For the moment.
There’s a hum of energy through Jess’s body, which is mostly a hum of energy anyway, to be fair. But her energy intensifies into something arcing between them, and Lupe’s rises to match her, an electric frisson where their auras intersect, a crackle that Jess can almost hear.
“Any good tits?” Lupe asks, smirking, looking at Jess’s chest.
“Not yet,” Jess answers. “Someone wanted to know about birds and the full moon.”
“Is it a full moon?” Lupe asks absently.
Jess is distracted, sure, but she’s not negligent.
“Just missed it,” Jess says, focusing on Lupe’s collarbones, wanting to lick the shadows there. “The next one is in November,” Jess murmurs, “the beaver moon.”
Lupe’s gaze intensifies into a stare. “The what?”
Jess smirks, leaning in so their energy fields merge just lightly, tingling around the edges. “You heard me,” she says, looking into Lupe’s dark eyes.
“Isn’t that…” Lupe swallows hard, licks her lip. “A little…”
“On the nose?” Jess murmurs archly. She sways even closer to Lupe, as if by gravity, or at least the way gravity used to work on her.
Jess takes a breath, inhaling Lupe’s aura, sweet with some heat to it, something like a molten butter, a scent Jess wants to dissolve into.
Lupe’s eyes are very dark, big and round and heavy. “Tell me,” Lupe manages, an admirable sentence even though her voice is cracked and her energy field is turning fuzzy with heat, and Jess presses closer as though she could warm herself, melt herself, absorb them into each other.
“There are...” Jess starts, feeling the hunger in Lupe’s energy and the way her electrical field is surging against Jess’s, lapping at her focus. “Intricate rituals,” Jess finishes. “It’s very... on the nose.”
Lupe makes a frustrated noise that Jess likes a lot.
“Are there others?” Lupe asks hoarsely, and she probably thinks they’ll be equally suggestive, but Jess brightens, diverted by a life raft in the sea of wanting.
“August is the sturgeon moon,” Jess says. She tries not to laugh at the look on Lupe’s face, desire cooling into something indignant.
“Named after the sturgeon. Fish,” Jess clarifies. “They’re abundant.”
“Oh, sure,” Lupe agrees, in a voice Jess doesn’t trust. “I always spend August thinking of the abundant sturgeon fish.”
Jess eyes her suspiciously. “I think you’re being sarcastic,” she says, “but I don’t know why you wouldn’t do that, so I’m not sure.”
Lupe looks like she’s trying not to laugh. “They’re so abundant, how could you not?”
Now Jess knows she’s being fucked with. “It’s the largest freshwater fish in the world, Lupe! Have some respect.”
“I cannot believe,” Lupe glowers, “that you allegedly know more about sex with women than me. Is this the kind of advice you’re giving out? This is useless. You need some professional development.”
Jess raises her eyebrows. “It’s working on you, isn’t it?” she points out, and she enjoys the shifty look in Lupe’s eyes, like Jess is right. She always is. “I’ve gotten to second base on this, easy.”
“You’ve fucked someone while talking about sturgeon?”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Jess retorts. “What base regulations do you use?” She shakes her head. “I have so many questions for management. Maybe you need professional development.”
Lupe hums. “Guess you'll just have to show me second base,” she murmurs into Jess’s ear, and the vibrations cascade through her like the touch that won’t land. “Combine baseball and sex with women.”
“Aren’t those your specialities?” Jess asks her, keeping herself together admirably under the circumstances. “To not combine them.... seems a waste. Uncalled for.”
Lupe’s energy feels electric, throbbing and sweet, making Jess’s head feel hazy. Jess tries to stay focused, catching the scent of Lupe’s hunger in the air between them, something she wants to spill.
“What happened to collaboration?” Jess asks, overly serious. She waits until Lupe’s eyes open, and releases her final accusation: “Unsportsmanlike,” low and filthy, right into Lupe’s ear.
Lupe surges forward, the heat of her turning into a weight against Jess’s hips.
Jess stops.
“Did you - ?”
She looks at Lupe. Lupe is looking at her. Touching her. Jess feels like she might melt into herself, succumbing to the flood of hunger in her belly. It’s been so long since she was touched. Lupe’s fingers brush Jess’s hip, causing Jess to float gently backwards. Jess looks at Lupe, whose eyes are enormous, urgent. Incredulous.
“Did you know we could – ” Jess asks, at the same time that Lupe says, “Have you ever –”
Jess shakes her head, wordless under a surge of desperation that would have sent her knees buckling, once.
Lupe reaches for Jess, tugging at her, and her eyebrow is up like a question that Jess answers on a groan, slipping her mouth across Lupe’s. She feels real, hot and frantic, and Jess grabs at Lupe’s hand where it’s hovering respectfully on her belly, and slides it between her legs, and then –
Jess bobs away on the tide of Lupe’s strokes against her.
“What the fuck,” Jess sighs, looking at Lupe’s barely wet fingers, shining in the light between them. She looks at Lupe, wants to taste her, feel her, fuck her, and it’s turning her confused and irritable.
Lupe hovers closer to Jess, moves her backwards. Tries to push her up against the wall, but Jess slides right through into the room next door. Jess growls, reaching through the wall for Lupe and pulling them back together. “I thought you were meant to be good at this,” she accuses.
“I am,” Lupe argues into Jess’s mouth, “when there’s physics.”
Jess bites at Lupe’s lip. “Sounds like you’re trying to make excuses,” she says, and she watches the understanding flash on Lupe’s face, rippling through the atmosphere around her.
“Sounds like you’re trying to get railed.” Lupe’s gaze is sharp, her whole energy intense. She’s vibrant and crackling through Jess’s senses, all the places they overlap, the lulling gravity of the air between them, trying to meld. She looks Jess in the eye and holds up her wet fingers, licking them consideringly.
Jess groans.
“Not my fault you keep floating away,” Lupe says, reaching for Jess, catching at her braid, tugging it lightly. Jess’s whole body bobs with the movement, undulating on an invisible tide, and it makes her ache to feel.
Jess raises her eyebrow, getting in close to Lupe’s face. “Then hold. me. down.”
She watches the flush in Lupe’s cheeks, feeling the answering heat in her own body. Lupe catches her firmly around the back of her hips, hauls her in. Their energy fields are now almost completely overlapping, and Jess feels tingly with it, electric and melting, like her entire consciousness is dissolving into the easy heat of Lupe’s hands against her.
And Lupe’s hands are easy against her, thumbing at her nipples, a shiver that ignites that familiar hunger to be touched and held and taken. Her need is so strong it’s almost painful, but Lupe’s fingers dig into her hips like a promise to help. Lupe’s eyes are dark and there’s something sweet in them, even as she braces one arm around the back of Jess’s waist and slips her fingers through the wetness between Jess’s legs, and that’s nearly enough to undo Jess, but it’s not nearly enough to satisfy her. Jess lets herself float into it, anchored by Lupe’s warm arm around her, and she opens her mouth on Lupe’s collarbone, giving a sigh when she gets to feel the heat of her, solid against Jess’s mouth, unyielding when she bites.
Lupe noses against the side of Jess’s face, stroking through Jess with a couple fingers, a sensation so surreal that Jess has forgotten how to count. Jess shifts against her, adjusts to get closer, braces herself to get Lupe’s fingers where she wants them, and Lupe laughs, a gentle mocking noise that has Jess shuddering into it.
“Are you climbing me?” Lupe asks, and Jess whines, because. She might be.
“Thought you were gonna tell me about the sturgeon,” Lupe husks, scraping her teeth over Jess’s ear.
“Thought you were gonna fuck me,” Jess growls instead, and Lupe laughs and slides three fingers into her, easy. Jess feels the desire burning, throbbing as Lupe’s fingers work her up and Jess spills needy noises into Lupe’s shoulder.
“Been so long,” Lupe is sighing into Jess’s hair, and Jess kisses across her chest. Lupe’s words feel true, like it has been so long – like maybe this is familiar, Lupe’s confident fingers and the hitching of her muscles as Jess’s hips roll, until they come to an abrupt stop against -
The bathroom counter.
Jess had forgotten what she looks like, but now she’s there in the mirror, looking at herself. Looking at Lupe’s hold on her. At both of them, together, a shifting, arching blur, flushed and melting.
“Why can we,” Lupe starts. It’s an excellent question, one Jess doesn’t have time for. Jess doubles down on Lupe’s fingers, trying to concentrate on the heat pooling inside her, until she comes with a whine into Lupe’s neck.
Jess has a lot to ponder, but that’s for later. For now, Lupe looks flushed and delicious, and Jess wants to bite. Lupe tugs at Jess’s hair, hauling her in expertly. Their energy fields are a perfect overlap as Jess kisses along Lupe’s chest, feeling Lupe’s aura throbbing like a heartbeat, a tide lapping at Jess, keeping her own desire high and hungry as she works her mouth against Lupe’s nipple.
“Great tits,” Jess murmurs smugly, and Lupe tightens her hold on Jess’s hair, spilling a hazy heat all through her.
Jess sighs happily, pushing Lupe harder against the counter, smirking into Lupe’s tits. This is some of the best professional development she’s ever had.
