Work Text:
Since that time when they've lost Kim dokja once again, Yoo joonghyuk had picked up a habit of sending messages through the Midday tryst. Talking normally as if his presence was still there.
It had been his routine for a month, But realized that Kim Dokja will come back soon and will able to read the foolish things he sent when he was gone. Han Sooyoung once suggested that he should try writing for a change. Although it was sarcastic, Yoo joonghyuk didn't mind the idea.
After that suggestion, he switched to writing letters instead of using the Midday tryst. He continued to write repeatedly. He wrote him letters every single day without a stop. Telling him stories, How the days went, About the Kim com, anything that he could write to him while his presence is absent. He wrote to him, yet he'd never let him read it. He'd store it somewhere safe, hidden in his room never be seen by the light. He've wrote too much in an extent that the hidden storage had no more space to hold more of his letters. He've Wrote to him as coping mechanism, a substitute to fill that empty void, a presence that was always right by his side throughout the rough scenarios.
Kim Dokja was in a place where he could not reach him, resulting him to write letters. He wrote normally, just like how he would talk to him in a conversation.
The cycle repeats, becoming a routine; a habit. Time goes by, he's still sitting on his desk with a pen and paper in his hands. Years goes by, and he's still doing the same thing. The only difference now is that the paper that was used to be filled with letters is blank. And that the pen in his hands had no more ink left.
He wasn't able to write anything anymore. Because he had forgotten about him. He had forgotten about his face, his voice, his laugh, his character, everything. He had forgotten every single thing about his beloved reader, that's why he couldn't continue to write anymore. Years went by, and he still wasn't there with them. There's no more reason for him to write, because they've already gotten the ending that Kim Dokja always wanted fo them, but he wasn't there with them.
He stopped writing and only re-reading the letters he previously wrote for him. To keep his only memories alive, To relive every journey they had. He re-read the letters repeatedly until his final breath. Hoping that he'll be able to meet that fool once again, becoming his life and death companion.
