Chapter Text
An sudden and odd attraction towards a younger man on his team, who turned out to be his very own son he had abandoned many years ago. It was a shock to him the first time he had found out. And he wish he'd hadn't gone through those files. But now it had been months since his discovery and these thoughts and feelings about the boy had only grew stronger with that time. Such weak and vile thoughts shrouded his focus everytime he thought about the scout. Being near him had served to be worse. But he couldn't avoid the boy for long. with the scout stopping by his smoking room to say a quick hello and Usually begging to come inside if it was something that he really wanted to talk about. But recently scout had taken a more keen approach, by starting this disturbance before and after rounds. It had became a daily routine for the runner. He really couldn't avoid that face. It had become clear that the boy was becoming more comfortable with him. Following him around more, staying longer in his visits and trying to talk to him while they were working on the field. Quite an uncomfortable situation, noting the previous feelings towards the boy. The way he would avoid eye contact, the thoughts still seeping into the corners of his brain the guilt of seeing his son so happy talking to man who harbored such disgusting fantasies about him, without any knowledge. It has consumed every corner of his mind. But now he's but to wait for the deafening knocks on his wooden door. The knocks were usually right on time as well. Exactly 30 minutes after the round had ended. The neat and precise time reminded him of himself. He shook off the thoughts just to tell himself to focus on the cracking of the wood in the fireplace burning. Each crackling noises Soothing his thoughts, resting his eyes. And he sat in his arm chair, eyes closed, his leg crossed over his knee, and with both hands on the arm rests. How relaxing. He sat there for what felt like an eternity until the blaring noise of knocks were heard. Slowly getting up and making the way to the door. Reaching his hand to the door knob to open it. There stood the scout. Wearing his dogtags, a tank top and shorts.
"Heya spy! What's going on wit ya?" Shoving his way inside, just practically treating it as if he lived here.
"I'm quite fine, thank you very much." Standing there for a second, then shutting the door closed.
"M jus gonna sit right here like always!" The nerve the boy had on him.
"So what is this time?, another one of your ramblings I assume. And don't stay for long, I need to be well rested for a contract in the morning." What lies. He just couldn't face the younger man without burning up in the inside.
"Whatevera man, anyways I had this crazy dream last night it was all overa the place dude, Like heavy wasn't bald no more and soldier was married to a Engle! blah blah blah" such nonsense he'd learned to entirely silence out. He stood right behind his arm chair, inspecting the seam that ran across the backrest. His focus was completely shot. Not a single word had registered to his brain, until the scout uttered his name softly.
"Ya know bout how i talked bout my ma" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly mentioing her in his rambling.
His felt his stomuch clench, at the mention of his mother.
"It was so crazy man, cuz she later called to check up on me n ask if m alright, cuz she thought I was in trouble or somethin" He let out a soft laugh with a worried expression plastered across his pale face.
"Yeah, but uh i mean I've been sittin here for forevera and thanks for hearing the stuff I talk bout" the younger boy stood up slowly and walked to the door waving his goodbyes with a clank of metal snapping in place.
What a shame they had to be so close yet so distant. Spy knew his own son wanted his help, his approval, his say in things, his advice. Everything. But why him specifically. Perhaps it's the way spy had cared about him, when the other mercs could care less about his well being. Especially on the battle field, yet knowing scout hated being constantly berated for his awful proformence at times. Enjoying when spy had noticed success from the boy, and praised him for the work he did. But yet it was so very rare that would happen , he liked to point out the scouts flaws more then his actual achievements. It was often met with poor insults at the expense of spy, and he was doing nothing but telling scout the truth about his actions. He recalled a little more then 2 days ago when he'd approached the scout. Due to his substandard performance that round. Nit picking every movement the boy made.
"Well I can do whatevera I want old man, m jus not at top shape right now!"
"Then I will assume, that we won't undergo this same conversation next time, don't be angry for your own performance. As you can only change it" He stood there shaking his head then walking away from the boy.
The chats between them had became more minuscule over time. He hadn't had a performance conversation with scout like that since that day, noting to himself that scout appeared to be more active on a field since then. Spy walked to his closet to get get into a nice set of slik lounge wear, sliding into nice pair slippers. It took him awhile of thinking to completely move his whole body over to his bed. Velvet sheets, with Charmeuse pillows. He lifted the bed sheet, getting underneath, feeling the warmth surround his whole body. He closed his eyes ready to fall asleep..
