Where Taeyong teaches Ten the Shalala dance and realises that his boyfriend's smile is his new favourite thing

Work Text:

Whipped is not a word Taeyong uses that often, perhaps occasionally to tease Mark when he’s smiling at Haechan for a bit too long, or even when Doyoung’s doing a horrible job in hiding the glances at Jaehyun.

However, Taeyong has been hearing that word a lot more lately, and aimed at him, for that matter. He thinks it’s just a coincidence that people tend to use it to describe him whenever Ten’s around - he can’t be that head over heels, can he?

“You are,” Doyoung once told him, “You are very much head-over-heels for that idiot.”

He pointed in the direction of the accused, who was cackling with Johnny, Mark in between them. The unimpressed look on the latter’s face proved him to be the subject of their laughter

“You just notice at the wrong times,” Taeyong said, mid-lunge. He sat himself on the floor once he’s finished, and stretched his legs.

“Clarify ‘wrong times’, please,” Doyoung asked drily, leaning back with a raised eyebrow.

“Like when he’s said something funny, and I’m laughing, “ Taeyong explained, “Or when he’s looking rather beautiful that day, and I can’t stop looking at him,” his breath suddenly faltered, “Or when his touch feels electric, and the hug is stretched out for minutes. Or when I don’t want to break the soft kiss-”

“Yeah, you’re really casual, aren’t you?” Doyoung interrupted, and Taeyong pretended to reach towards his legs, when in reality he needed to hide his pink cheeks.

“I’m not obsessed with him or anything,” The muffled lie made Doyoung roll his eyes in flippant annoyance.

“Oh you are,” He muttered ominously, like a wise sage, “You are whipped.”

The short yet punchy conversation replays in Taeyong’s mind right now, as he watches Ten relay the Shalala dance moves back to him.

“-arm here,” Ten is saying, “then a loud clap with two hands-” he does just so, “and then the 'shalala' part from then on, right Yongie?”

Taeyong doesn’t realise he was very noticeably gazing at Ten for the past minutes with a love sick smile on his face, until the latter squints at him, leaning forwards.

“You alright there, handsome?” Ten asks, folding his arms suspiciously. Taeyong shakes his head with a grin, and sighs dramatically.

“Unfortunately, I am unable to be this thing called ‘alright’,” He mourns, placing his hands on the wall either side of Ten’s head. Ten unfolds his arms, and after quickly checking in anyone was around, slides his hands under Taeyong shirt and trails the cool fingertips up and down his spine

“And why’s that?” Ten murmurs lowly, hands roaming closer to Taeyong chest.

“I mean, I’m trying to be casual,” Taeyong explains, voice breathless now, melting against Ten’s cheek,     “ But there’s this problem. An awfully good-looking problem,” Taeyong kisses under Ten’s jaw, “ A gorgeous guy stealing every bit of concentration from me by his heart-fluttering laughter and heart-stopping body rolls.”

“Sounds tragic,” Ten whispers, but then gasps when Taeyong presses himself more flush against him.

“An absolute nightmare, “ Taeyong agrees, smiling against Ten’s honey skin when he hears another gasp.

“You’re the horrible one,” Ten manages to hiss through grit teeth, “ Look what you’re doing to me.”

“Not my fault I like it,” Taeyong hums, kisses Ten’s cheek.

“It is, actually,” Ten tilts his face to meet their lips, but Taeyong pulls back at the last second, getting off Ten, who exclaims in annoyance.

“You actual pig!” Taeyong just cackles when he hears the outraged remark. Ten shoves his back slightly, and stomps over to where his phone was laying on the table. Taeyong is still laughing, but it eventually dies down when he sees the unamused look Ten throws at him.

“Awwww, don’t sulk baby,” Taeyong teases, as he approaches his boyfriend, “ I’ll give you all the cwuddles and kissies you want.”

“Shut up,” Ten mumbles, but he still caves into the embrace Taeyong has him in. The latter plants a kiss on Ten’s neck, although his long blonde hair covers the majority of it. Taeyong isn’t complaining though - there is just something about Ten and golden hair that makes Taeyong feel like he’s dancing on rainbows with a very embarrassing ahem down below.

“Are you ready?” Taeyong asks his boyfriend, who nods in response. He fetches his manager from the nearby room he was waiting in (with headphones, Taeyong notices.)

“They’re a precaution,” his manager says, when he sees Taeyong staring at them.

“For what?”

His manager gives him a look, but when he sees Taeyong’s genuinely perplexed face, he sighs to himself.

“Nothing, Romeo,” He mumbles, and Taeyong, still confused, decides not to press any further.

When they reunite with Ten, the latter is wearing a cute beanie, and Taeyong has to fight the urge to pepper his lovely face in kisses-

You are whipped

An ominous voice sounds through his head, eerily akin to Doyoung’s, and Taeyong has to physically shake his head to tune it down. Ten looks at him with those gorgeous eyes of his, rounded in concern, but Taeyong just pats his shoulder in assurance.

“It’s nothing,” He whispers to him, and Ten, albeit reluctantly, buys it.

The music starts, and Ten does his little opening section, and Taeyong’s smiling like an idiot. In his defence he’s tried to fight it off, he really has, but that stimulating joy he feels whenever he’s dancing (/doing anything) with his boyfriend overtakes his muscles and his brain and the smile lines are strong and deep. He still tries to keep his cool, mainly looking at the camera and not at the beauty next to him, but by the time it’s done he can’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Nevertheless, he’s smiling, which only increases when he sees Ten smiling at him back, eyes twinkling like fairy lights. Somewhere in the back of Taeyong’s brain, he hears his manager tell him that he’ll be in the room far, far away with his headphones on, and soon it’s only Taeyong and Ten again.

“That was nice, “ Ten breathes out, taking his beanie off to ruffle his hair with his hand, “Your choreo is seriously so cool, hyung.”

Taeyong has to refrain from saying ‘No, you’re the cool one, Tennie’ in a completely enamoured voice because he just knows Doyoung will pop up from god knows where and haunt him with those three words.

Taeyong’s not that whipped.

Right?

“You’re beautiful.”

Well, shit, maybe he is.

Ten eyes widen in surprise, and his cheeks flush with a lovely pink. He looks down at his hands, his fingers fiddling with his beanie, and a shy smile forms on his lips.

Taeyong just dies.

His insides turn to goo and he can feel his heart mushily swish around in his chest like a slushie. A gross picture compared to the beautiful scene he had in front of him, but then again, Taeyong is not a man of many complaints.

Except perhaps a secret cry to God to be able to hold Ten in his arms like this forever and ever.

“Dear Lord,” Doyoung shakes his head with a deep sigh. The duo on his phone dance to a familiar song, and he doesn’t miss the way one dancer turns to the other with an uncontainable smile on his face, “This poor man is whipped.”
