Chapter Text
Camyron was much like any other eleven year old wizard entering their first year at Hogwarts's. She was Eager to learn and overly excited by every little thing that in any way resembled the wizarding world like most other half bloods or muggleborn's her age . “Chocolate frogs” she read out loud excitedly to herself mesmerized as she plopped back down beside the window of her train compartment while staring at the famous wizard card shifting and changing in her hand and then dissapearing only to come right back again, she was on her way to her first year in a wizarding school ‘Yes! An actual wizarding school’ she though a little too excitedly, the same school her brother had started attending just one year before her. She was gonna get to spend an entire year with her brother now, away from the home and all the other kids, she couldn't wait.
From where shes sitting, She glances across at her older brother Remus, worried because of how near the worst part of the month for both siblings was getting, “Remmy” she called getting his attention, hoping to distract him from the upcoming full moon in two days, “have some of this chocolate frog with me will you?, you gifted me one last Christmas and i just adored it so much that i had to get another”. He smiled down to her and ruffled her hair, “thank you little one but im okay” he smiled lightly “have it for yourself, you haven't stopped talking about them since Christmas'' He chuckled.
Remus was always like this with Cam, refusing to take food from her, giving her some of his in the orphanage, even after a full moon, no matter how much she protested just so he could make sure she had enough to eat that day. He was a wreck leaving for his first year at Hogwarts last year, he hating leaving her alone to deal with it all, but she didn't mind, she liked that he finally got some time for himself. Ever since their mom had given them up after their dad died, Remus had become her rock, he was extremely protective over his little sister and had more often than not gotten into fights with the older boys in the home just to keep her safe. She loved her older brother but she had learned to take care of herself too and maybe now at Hogwarts she would finally get to prove it to him.
“How come you're not sitting with your new friends today Remmi ?" she questioned,"you haven't stopped talking about them all summer” she said matter of factly giving him another worried glance. “Well because dear Cammi” he replied smirking at the nickname he knew she hated “I simply couldn't leave my baby sister to sit all by herself on the train to Hogwarts, you know i'd worry” he smiled calmly to her. “I know that Remus but-” She was interrupted suddenly by the compartment door swinging open.
"REMUS" Screamed three peculiar looking boys, all piling into the compartment and jumping directly on top of Remus, screaming far too loud and just being well boys, she sighed to herself. They laughed and talked for a few more moments until a small rather plump looking boy turned to her and suddenly went wide eyed “ Uh Remus?” the boy questioned, causing all three boys to turn towards him, “Who’s that?” he said pointing directly at cam. The other two boys jumped up so suddenly upon finally seeing her, each turning a darker shade of beat red and looking anywhere but Cam's face, “Sorry miss” they sheepishly apologized looking away until both Remus and Camyron burst out laughing causing the three boys left in the compartment to look around at each other, utterly confused.
“Well lads” Remus choked out just now calming down from the fit of laughter, “This is my little sister Cam” he smiled looking overly smug and pleased as all the boys silently stared and turned back to him. “You idiot” the tallest of the group suddenly yelled, whacking Remus on top of the head, causing Cam to flinch and internally panic just a little bit. “You never told us you had a little sister,” the other boy with surprisingly long black hair said, flinging himself down next to her and throwing his arm around her shoulders.
“Sirius Black” he introduced himself as smiling down to her, “Moony’s favorite of course” he laughed not noticing Cams eyes widen at the use of the nickname and start aghast at Remus “YOU TOLD THEM” she shouted, probably a little too loud making the three boys cover their ears on instinct and Sirius who's name she now knew jump up in fear, “yes” Remus said softly, staring at her with a pointed look and taking his hands down from his ears, “I told them about what i am, but only after-” he was saying, only to be cut off by the tall boy who hit him on the head’.
“Whoa Whoa there, mini Remus'' the tall boy said putting his hands up infront of him in surrender “We figured it out by ourselves'' he said lightly “Remus only confirmed what we thought to be true." I looked at them all wearily, trying to decide if I trust these boys with Remmi's deepest secret or not. “Is that true Remus” I questioned looking at him for any sign of fear in his eyes, “Yes” he smiled clearly more relaxed now that his friends? I assume…. were sitting around him. “Okay then” I smiled, satisfied with this response, and mentally preparing myself for the headache id gain from the rest of this train journey.
Stepping off the train after 3 more hours of those boys, was pure joy like Cam had never felt, she loved her brother really, she truly did but Jesus were those friends of his more annoying than anything. She had to sit through hours of them being complete and utter idiots. God only knows how she survived them.
The tall boy, James as she had come to learn, was sort of like the ringleader of Remus' little group of friends, he wore black circular glasses that oddly suited him and by the sight of the clothes he was wearing he definitely came from wealth and he was also non stop talking about some girl from his year that he's so obviously obsessed with L - something, he really needs to get his stuff together and sort it out, i pray for the boys having to listen to him.
Then there was the other black haired boy Sirius. He also clearly came from a lot of wealth and he certainly talked as though he did. But most importantly Cam thought he had incredible hair ( she totally didn't ask him for hair tips at some point on the train ride ) and he also loved queen and Bowie, oh they were definitely going to be good friends, and Camyron was definitely not going to set him up with her obviously gay delusional brother.
And last, there was Peter, a pudgy small boy ,who unlike the other two seemed to be more on the commonish side of things although still higher up on the scale than her and Remus. Cam figured out that she didn't like Peter very much. He had an odd sort of cold vibe surrounding him that she couldn't quite put into place and it made her a little uncomfy to be around.
She wanted to bring up her feelings and vibes towards and from him to Remus, because well, her intuition usually wasn't wrong. But that would have to wait till later on because, as soon as she stepped off the train, there was a freakishly big man with a very large beard calling out to all the first year students and telling them to follow him to the dock, she turned and smiled waving goodbye to Remus and his friends ( and pointedly ignoring peter) and walked along to catch up to the rest of her year group so she wouldn't fall behind, giving her brother a reassuring ‘ill be okay’ look when she seen his worried expression.
Hagrid she’d learned this man's name was, brought her and her new classmates on the most mesmerizing boat ride over a huge lake, in these tiny little boats that somehow moved all by themselves, Cam could not take her eyes of the castle as soon as it came into view and she thought that it had to have been one of the most amazing and beautiful things she’s ever seen, it was enchanting. She was a little sad deep down when they came to port under the castle so that they could go inside. They were all brought into a big corridor and told to wait for a teacher to come and get them to be sorted ? whatever sorted meant… she was really going to kill Remus later for not telling her anything about this.
