Chapter Text
On sunny, scorching afternoons, you'd only expect to see either a thirsty bird drinking from the running lake, or a lost cat with a piece of chicken breast running around to find a shaded area, but instead a young man could be seen sitting down (on said shaded area) deeply immersed in the thick book in his hands.
His name was Alhaitham, a well known, handsome man from town. He always studies hard; hence the books that are glued onto his hands. Overall, an intelligent and introverted individual, spending his free time reading in quiet, open places. You could say his life was almost perfect and nothing odd has ever happened to him and his family, well, until now it was normal.
He flinched suddenly at the sound of.. Metal rattling around on the pebbles scattered around the trees, as if somebody was kicking a pot around, but by taking a few glances left and right and behind the tree he was leaning on, there was nobody, not even a gust of air moving it around so easily.
He sighed and looked at the actual item that was clattering like crazy; it was a.... Teapot? No, more like an oil lamp, there was a strange fragrance coming out of the sprout. Alhaitham closed his book and picked the lamp by the handle, letting it hang down as he inspected it from the outside with a concentrated face.
"Eh.", Wow, how intellectual of you, Alhaitham. He stuffed it in his messenger bag alongside his book and got ready to return to his home. When he did, he just threw the bag on the edge of his mattress in his bedroom, letting it sit there while he went to cook for himself, clean, and technically just finish all chores before resting again, but by that time it had gotten dark.
The young man laid on the comfortable mattress, sighing at the feeling of peace. Suddenly, he reminds himself of the book still in his bag from earlier today, he sat up and grabbed the strap of it, unzipping the bag and taking the book he absolutely adores out of it. Before he puts the bag away again, he spotted the golden lamp he picked up earlier.
Alhaitham hummed, deep in thought, and then only took it out to put it on the bedside table. He spent the next maybe two hours and a half on the same book like a crazy man, before he eventually heard the same metal clacking from earlier today, but it was obvious that it was the golden lamp, the only thing that was strange is that it had been making those noises all by itself, what could this lamp possibly hold?
He sighed, putting a bookmark in the page he finished reading and closed the book after. He picked the lamp up from its handle and watched it shake in his hands like there was a little rat stuck in there. Out of curiosity, he rubbed the dust on the lamp, hoping for a secret explanation or something like that. What he didn't expect.. Is for the lamp to go absolutely crazy, dropping on the floor by itself and strong, colourful essence oozing out the sprout.
He stared at it in shock with wide eyes, watching it go crazy for at least a minute while the room was filled with purple, cloudy gas, nothing harmful, only for the gust to clear out slowly for Alhaitham to see... A feminine figure? What? He looked at the rest of the strange figure's body, seeing that its lower body was connected to the sprout of the oil lamp, like a genie.
"Phew! Feels good to be out in the open again, living my life for the 7th time has never felt so good!", The figure exclaimed, stretching out its body before actually looking at the man who summoned him. "Oh my.. Why, hello there! Don't be afraid, I don't bite, and yes, I came out of that tiny lamp, crazy right?", Alhaitham only gave him a deadpan expression, making the other figure sigh in annoyance.
"I am a genie, a nice one! And I have a name~ Call me Kaveh, I know how beautiful that name is, just like my face~", Kaveh summoned a microphone out of thin air, tossing it over to the other man as a way to make him introduce himself to the genie. What Alhaitham did, is place the microphone beside him before it eventually disappearred by itself and look down, before actually introducing himself to the genie.
"I'm Alhaitham, you don't need any more details, do you?", He moved the hair away from his forehead, bringing it back to not be a bother. He watched as Kaveh looked all around the place, almost as if he was scanning it with his sharp stare, before looking right back at the man with hazel eyes.
"Great! Now we can get started! Now that you've summoned me by your own hands, you take full consequences for what will happen next, it's highly recommended you agree, because if I was in your place, I wouldn't hesitate!".
"Okay, get to the point already, my time is precious.".
Kaveh scoffed at his behaviour and how he totally ruined the mood, but he had to do what he had to do after all. "Okay, listen closely because I don't like repeating myself! Youu, my good friend, are going to have the chance to make three, yes, three! Wishes of your liking. BUT!!! Under some conditions....".
He held up his index finger, resembling 'one', "First rule, you can't bring anybody back from the dead nor kill them.".
Holding up two fingers now, "Second rule, you can't make anybody fall in love with you, I know, I would hate this rule too.".
Three fingers, "Last rule, you can't wish for more wishes, don't be greedy, as always.".
They both stared at each other after the genie was finished talking, letting the man think deeply (even if said genie seemed to be very impatient) to answer right without hesitation. Alhaitham stood up from his bed, now directly in front of Kaveh, which left the blonde figure shocked at his height and build from closeup.
"You know, you're pretty handso—".
"Shut up, I can't think if you talk.".
"Oh, sorry..!", He whispered, almost offended, he moved back a bit from the grey-haired man to let him 'think in peace'. Alhaitham finally looked back up, staring right at the genie's crimson eyes with confidence and a hidden smirk. Kaveh's eyes lit up instantly, feeling the excitement rush back to his.. Body?
"Alright, listen closely, cause I also don't like repeating myself, my voice is loud and clear enough for people passing by to hear. My first wish is to consume as much knowledge as I possibly can without my brain malfunctioning, I haven't had time to read enough these days.".
Kaveh cringed internally, he was totally expecting such a guy to say he wanted a mansion or maybe a castle or a whole town, but he accepted any request as long as he followed the rules.
"Second wish is to live comfortably for the rest of my life, although it is nearly perfect as it is now, maybe it won't be in the future, so I would enjoy that.".
"Okay...", Kaveh replied, writing everything down with a notebook and pen he had just made for no reason, he threw them into thin air after the man in front of him finished talking. "How about your last one, mister Haitham?".
"Can I leave that for another time very soon? I'm not quite sure yet..", Alhaitham crossed his arms with a faint smirk, standing a step closer to Kaveh, making the genie get flustered at the distance between them.
"U—Uh, Sure..?? But you have to make your third wish as soon as possible, just like you told me! Liars are always no good..", Kaveh pouts, fulfilling his wishes in an instant, but it not being visible since his wishes weren't physical.
"All done, you're not gonna feel anything right now though, since your wishes weren't something like a cat or anything! And also, I'll be staying in the lamp till you decide when you don't want me after your third wish, just... Don't throw me around, it's painful.", Kaveh makes finger guns with a wide grin on his face, clenching his jaw in annoyance after seeing Alhaitham roll his eyes.
"Sure, so I just do the same thing I did when I first summoned you?", The grey haired man raised an eyebrow as he waited for a reply from the genie who was twirling his golden locks around his finger, almost as if he wasn't paying full attention to his master. He then snapped back to reality and thought about the question with a hum.
"Huh? Oh right, yup! Exactly like you did earlier, smarty-pants!", Kaveh laughed at the nickname he gave him himself, wiping away fake tears at the outer corners of his eyes. "Sorry about the name, but it totally suits you.".
Alhaitham scoffed, instead of replying, he grabbed his book and laid down on his bed to continue reading, ignoring the presence of the other figure floating beside him and focused on his oh-so-important book that still smelled fresh and new.
The blonde sighed, looking around the room one more time to search for a way to end the awkward silence; thinking of only one way to stop and looked back at his so-called master.
"Sinceee you seem like you don't want me here anymore, I'll get going, soooo.. If you don't mind—", The genie had almost disappeared in a second, leaving only a purple-ish cloud of glitter behind him as the only things that remained now were Alhaitham and the lamp on the floor.
Finally. Alhaitham thought, but not looking away from the book in his hand, slowly but surely falling asleep while the only light was a small candle that lit off as the scribe placed his book on the bedside table.
