Chapter Text
The dull and boring life (how he liked it ) of Edward Cullen seemed to break in shambles as a new student had moved to the forever-still Forks. The new girl brought whispers, rumors, and excitement.
It seemed like she hadn't arrived yet due to the thoughts of multiple people eager in meeting her. In all honesty, Edward couldn't care less, sure a new family was news to old Forks but at the end of the day, it wasn't like her arrival would change anything.
For the first half of the day Edward as always tuned everybody out, no matter the gossip surrounding him he was used to it. It was only until lunch that he seemed to pick up on some visions of the new girl, it seems like the whole school population wasn't disappointed.
His eyes casted over shadows and small memories of a petite girl who was around 5'4, her hair was dark like midnight but her eyes radiated light. They were a beautiful shade of light brown, the kind you see in the doe eyes of deers. The kind you see as you slaughter an innocent life.
Her appearance was enough to cause swooning from the entire male population in the school, but her personality drew everyone in more (if that was possible). Rosalie was beautiful no doubt, and Lauren held her stand. But they were too "cold."
It seems like "Aurora" as Edward found from the thoughts, was different. She was warm similar to her blood and enthusiastic. Always raised her hand for questions and smiled even if she was wrong, quite the opposite of Edward.
Now Edward wouldn't say it was love at first sight, it was more curiosity. Multiple questions surfaced in his mind.
"Why did you move here?"
"What is your goal?"
"Why are you so beautiful and warm?"
"How can you smile like that?"
Edward's brain went into a frenzy as he caught the scent of a group of people entering the lunchroom. All 6 of them except one he knew to his bone, in that moment Edward exhaled a breath he didn't know he was holding.
His eyes followed the group and studied each and every one of them before locking eyes with Aurora. And his head started to rattle.
'Why are you smiling at Mike's stupid joke? How can you give him that sort of smile and expect him to not fall in love with you? Why do you have dimples that cast on your face perfectly? Why must you ruin my ever-boring life? Don't come near me and destroy what has taken me a century to build. Don't look at me even in the slightest because I know that if you send that stupid smile in my direction, it'll be over.'
Aurora continued chatting with her new group of friends before Jessica started going on a tangent regarding the Cullens. Each and every word that came out of her seeped with venom and jealousy, and Edward hated it. Jessica Stanley was worthless, she judged others when she had no right to do so.
Edward glared in their direction and his breath faltered as Aurora looked back and saw him staring. She looked surprised at the stare before a thought crossed her mind.
'His hair, it's like a sheep'
Edward had to shield his small smile by pretending to cough, though his eyes betrayed them as amusement blushed. His thoughts were soon bombarded by her and she hadn't even spoken to him. It was chilling, but also exciting.
After a moment Edward tried to stare at her once more and was relieved as her focus was on Eric talking about a recent group project, his eyes were land-locked on her. All the other people surrounding her were insignificant and soon blurred. She was the center of his attention, and Edward liked the sound of that. (Though he knew he shouldn't)
The bell rang and its loud but predictable sound coursed through the cafeteria. Through muscle memory at this point, Edward grabbed his lunch (props) and threw them away before making his way to his next class. And if anyone saw him staring at Aurora for a moment too long, long enough to be called creepy it didn't happen.
Edward was calming down and enjoyed the way the ocean of students seemed to part for him, before a new scent left like breathless. Soft, long black hair came into view and he held back a gulp. Her scent was sweet, caramel with a hint of vanilla. The scent fits her perfectly, though he wasn't sure due to only realizing her existence an hour ago.
Aurora smiled as she made her way next to Edward not even noticing the way his fangs clawed to bite her, how his throat became rough and dry, and how his hand tugged on his shirt to keep him grounded. She was too busy trying to find the biology class, her eyes turned to Edward and she noticed his uncomfortable presence. She felt pity.
'Poor guy must have had a rough day, how about a joke' Aurora laughed as if she had been told the joke before quickly looking at Edward with determination.
"Knock, Knock"
Edward recoiled as he heard her voice, it was exquisite. Her voice was a bit high, soft, and smooth like it was caressing him. Her tone was warm and sweet much like her blood which Edward would do anything to have a taste of.
Edward gulped before he responded trying to stay calm. (And failing)
"Who's there?"
Aurora gleamed as Edward responded and clutched her books closer to her chest before giving him a cheeky smile.
"A little old lady"
Edward's mouth soon started salivating at the thought of just ruining everything and running off with her, finding a secluded place and satiating his infinite hunger. His monster was preening his head out and found amusement in his situation. Aurora was too close for his liking, but he knew he lied. He shouldn't like having a human so close to him, so trusting but he does.
"A little old lady who?" Edward stammered the words out as his hand started to bruise from holding his shirt too tightly.
"I didn't know you could yodel"
With that Aurora sent him a final smile, it was truly a spectacle. Her smile lines showed softly and her dimples were present. Her hair fell perfectly down her shoulder and she giggled softly at her own joke. Her eyes creased into crescent moons and they showed warmth. Edward knew.
He was a goner.
Aurora's eyes locked on the door and its numbers before nodding softly and going inside deciding it was her designated room. Edward retched, he was in the same class as her. How could he stay sane when Aurora was anywhere near him?
The girl was on thin ice, but it seemed like she was a figure skater for not a single crack could be found in the thin layer of Edward's curiosity.
