Izku's relationship with his family is complicated. He loves his mother, but he is torn between indifference and anger when he thinks about his dad and twin sister.
The number one hero, Toshinori Yagi, is a little too preoccupied with training Izumi to fully pay attention to him. Her Psychic quirk was too flashy to not be noticed by her dad.
His weak electrical quirk was definitely ignored. He did not feel any sort of despair. He trained his body and quirk, and while his more talented sister barely progressed during the years, Izuku's quirk reached higher levels of power and versatility.
Only his mother knew about his development, and his dad tried not to be that negligent, but Izuku just walled himself off and did not bother to connect with him.His relationship with Izumi was poor, she definitely got a big head over being trained by dad, and thanks to the influence of the Bakugo twins, she ended up sharing some of their views.
Her attempts to muscle her way into his life were stomped out with ease. Izuku did not pull any punches and told her that if she was going to be a Darwinist fuck, then she was going to get a taste of that philosophy in her face. Their parents broke up their fights every time before a fist was thrown.
For all the training that she received from their dad, Izumi did not really advance that much with her quirk. She used her quirk like a hammer. Only to brute-force her way out. Just like dad did with his.
Izuku did had to work his way out in order to reach the level of strength that his sister had since her quirk manifested, so he learned multiple applications of his quirk over the years and was almost prepared for a lot of eventualities.
He just hoped that it would be enough for him to get his first step into heroics.
The written test was easy. One of the applications of his quirk was that he could just increase the speed of his brain's processing power, and he did rely on said increased speed in order to finish the exam with the highest score. He did study a lot for this one, so he was confident in his chances.
It was the practical test that was the real tiebreaker. Izuku could take a page from his dad and go like a hot knife through butter, or he could just take it slow and make sure that at least everyone was fine. Because the possibility of something going wrong with a bunch of kids (himself included) going wild with their quirks whiout any supervision was high enough to not be ignored.
So he did decided to at least keep tabs on the rest of the participants to be sure that nothing could go wrong.
All Might was there in the observation room with the rest of teachers of U.A., looking at how his two kids were performing. He was disappointed in himself to be honest.
Izumi was clearly powerful and was defeating villain robots with ease, but she ingored everyone and was only for herself. Izuku, on the other hand, was far more focused on supporting others, and more than once he pulled participants away from a dangerous situation.
This was the first time that All Might actually watched how his son used his quirk. His less stellar choices made Izuku not show the progress that he had made with his quirk to him or his sister when they tried to get a read on him. Only Inko knew, at least, how powerful Izuku was. Izuku was far closer to his mother than him, and the reverse was applicable to Izumi. She was closer to him than her mother.
So he was definitely getting live proof of all the tales that his wife told him about Izuku's progress on his quirk. And by the looks of it, Izuku did make a massive breakthrough with his quirk.
From those little blue sparks that he made when he was 4 years old. To the current of electricity that danced through his body, making him faster and stronger.
Izuku did watched how, when the zero-points robot was released, almost everyone ran away in terror. Unfortunately, one girl was just walking toward the robot without any care.
Izuku rushed in and realized that she was under the influence of a mental quirk when he looked into her eyes. Izuku decided to catch her and free her of that quirk.
"Ahhh!." the girl yelped in shock. She was now in full control of her body, her empty stare gainig some light was what gave it away. Izuku's gentle shock broke whatever mental conditioning that was controlling her.
"Sorry about that..." Izuku said. The short brunette did muttered a thank you.
"No problem..., let's get out of here," Izuku said. He and the girl did run away to the entrance and leave the robot behind. He was definitely talking with one of the proctors of the exam about the fact that someone brainwashed a participant for some reasons.
A purple-haired kid was left behind. He was using his quirk to put that girl in danger in order to score some easy rescue points. His plan was almost perfect, but that goddamn menace broke the brainwashing and took the girl to safety.
He was mad now. All the information that Eraserhead gave him was useless. He was unable to destroy any robot, and he was simply unable to even get some rescue points. He sneered at those rescue points up to the point that it became clear to him that those things were the only way for him to even have the chance to enter in the hero course.
He was so absorbed in his frustrations that he did not escape from the robot and ended up being captured by it.
"AHHHHHHHH!." The mechanical hand that was grasping him did squeeze him a little and broke multiple bones in his body.
Shinso Hitoshi's dreams of heroism died that moment. And with it, Eraserhead's hopes of having his personal apprentice become a hero student in his class
Izuku almost got discualified after gently shocking the girl with his electricity. He did broke the rule about not attacking other students. But the principal did gave him a chance to explain why he did that, and after interrogating that girl by separated as well. Nezu did decided to let Izuku go by at least praising him for recognizing the symptoms of someone being affected by a mind-altering quirk.
"My mother is a nurse. So I sort of asked questions about how one could identify those things, and she did told me how." Izuku simply said.
Nezu instantly understood why he said that. Izuku's sister has a mental quirk. So maybe he wanted to know how to identify if someone was affected by a mental quirk.
Nezu did have to deal with the fallout from the zero-point robot in that particular area. He was now sure that the participant caught in the robot's hand was the one who brainwashed that girl in order to engineer a situation that could give him rescue points.
That action was downright villainous and would definitely make Nezu not even blink if he had to detain him and send him to Tartarus. But it appeared that said participant had suffered enough. He was paralyzed from the waist down, and it appears that he was going to never recover from that. He was definitely disappointed at Eraserhead's choice of apprentice and his standards of talent.
Nezu was going to revoke those privileges that he had given him. Erasehead's expel happy tendencies did not created new heroes, but it did created serious problems that Nezu had to step in to prevent more damage to U.A. itself and those affected by his decisions.
This year was his last. So if he refused to shape up and turn his new 20 students into proper hero hopefuls, then Nezu was not going to hesitate to cut him off. He had enough of him.
Izuku returned home and watched how his dad was there with Izumi. He did took the train over getting a ride with All Might and his sister in his dad's private car. He would prefer not to endure Izumi more than necessary.
"I'm proud of you, Izuku." All Might said. He was in his emancinated form. He had no reason to be transformed in his own home.
"Wathever..." Izuku replied to his dad. He was quite sure that he gave Izumi a far more bombastic congratulation than this cookie-cutter stock phrase.
He went to his room and just killed some time before dinner.
Days passed, and the letters of admission to U.A. came. Izuku definitely picked his and went to his room, certain that Izumi would be a pest as usual and either mock him if he did not passed or complain and throw a fit if he did.He was going to not bother to be in the same room as her and read his letter in peace.
The sounds of Izumu complaining for whatever reason did reached his ears, so that meant that something went wrong for her. Izuku, for his part, just skipped to the end and read that he was accepted and that his hero class was going to be the 1-B.
It appears that in the end, it went well for him after all.
The day of entrance to U.A. came, and Izuku took the train instead of going with his dad and sister. That meant that he woke up earlier in order to get there on time and get things in order before the day started.
He was definitely annoyed over the fact that he had the misfortune of being in the same class as the annoying younger Bakugo twin. Katsumi Bakugo. She was just a female version of her brother, up to the quirk.
He just hoped that this time, the teachers at U.A. were competent and would set her on the right path. He had some faith in that possibility because his homeroom teacher was not Eraserhead.
That man was unfit to teach. His expel happy tendencies were heavily documented and even used in other countries as an example about how not being a teacher. He was Izumi's homeroom teacher, so that was going to be a madhouse.
"It's you!." a female voice said after he entered class.
"You are..." Izuku recognized the girl. That short brunette was the girl that he helped in the exam get away from the zero-points robot.
"Thanks again for helping me there."
"No problem, there was a villain in the making that brainwashed you for some weird reason. I just can't ignore that." izuku said. Izuku did talked a little with the girl. He did learned her name and aside for some small talk. There was not much time for anything else.
"Good morning, everyone." Vlad King. The hero and the homeroom teacher of his class came, and that was the moment that their first day started.
The day was definitely fun in a way. He did witness a class full of people who were less than impressed with Katsumi's antics and "explosive" personality. Then the whole quirk assessment test came, and her screams of anger at him being the first at everything while she was in the middle of the road did resounded in the whole school.
It appears that the raw talent of her brother was not something that she had, by the looks of it. That could definitely explain the fact that she acted so vilely toward those who were weaker than her. He suspected that Katsuki had definitely bullied his sister for being so "weak".
He could barely sympathize with her plight. She chose to take it out on others. Izuku did choose to train harder than everyone else until he broke his limits and reached a higher power than Izumi had.
"SHITTY DEKU!." Katsumi tried to attack him after the results were given. Izuku just dodged her explosion with ease.
"Are you done with your petty tantrum or are you going to continue?" Izuku said. He looked at Katsumi straight in the eyes, and that made her relent.
Aside from a scolding and a warning. Katsumi was able to get out of that situation with some ease. It was clear, at least to Izuku, that Vlad King would definitely lay down the law if the situation demanded it
Izuku did gave her an 85% chance of messing it up so badly that she gets canned out and a 15% chance of Katsumi getting her shit together. But Katsumi was not a child anymore. Her low-quality imitation of her brother's antics was not a way to be a hero. But in the end. The Bakugo siblings were not his problem.
