Work Text:
“Simon, what’s up?”
“Can I talk to you about something?”
“Of course. Come on in.”
Price stepped aside to let Ghost into his room as he did every time his friend came knocking on his door. They sat next to each other on the bed, Price looking calm as usual, Ghost avoiding eye contact like always. Ghost laced his fingers together and rubbed them together anxiously.
“What did you want to talk about?”
Simon took a deep breath and paused, a tremor in his hands.
“John, you won’t judge me if I tell you something personal will you?”
“Absolutely not! Why would I? You’re my best friend, my brother in arms, there’s nothing you could say that would make me judge you.”
Simon looked up into John’s eyes.
“Nothing at all?”
John smiled softly and placed a hand on Simon’s shoulder, giving it a tight squeeze.
“Nothing at all.”
Simon looked away again and squeezed his hands tighter together.
“I’m gay.”
When John didn’t say anything Simon looked over again, expecting disgust and rejection, but all he was met with was the same genuine, gentle smile John always gave him.
“I know.”
It was all he said before he pulled Simon into a tight dad hug. The floodgates were open now and with it came laughter and relief,
Tears and snot,
Brotherhood and friendship.
