Chapter Text
Suletta stepped off the bus and walked into the middle of the walkway, excited to start her new journey at her new school: Asticassia High School. She had been homeschooled in the middle of nowhere her whole life so when her mom had mentioned attending a school with actual teenagers her own age, she was more excited than she had ever been. She was finally going to make friends!
She began to take her first step toward her new life. Until she was suddenly run into and knocked onto the ground.
“O-ouch!” Suletta exclaimed as she felt a body on top of her own.
“Why are you just standing in the middle of the walkway?!” a shrilled voice came from that said body.
“H-hey! You were the one who knocked into m-me,” Suletta got out, “Watch where you’re going!”
Suletta got a better look at the girl and saw her pale eyes that went along well with her silver hair.
“Ugh, whatever,” the girl started to rise from the ground, “just stay out of my way!”
Suletta watched as the silver-haired girl walked two steps before she nearly fell. Luckily, Suletta had gotten up and was able to catch the rude girl before she would hit the concrete.
“Dammit, I must’ve twisted my ankle running into you,” the girl swore, “It doesn’t matter, I have to get out of here.”
She attempted to run but was unable to, due to Suletta keeping a firm grip on her.
“Idiot! Let go of me!” the girl said while trying to escape the stronger girl’s grasp.
“N-no! You’re hurt!” Suletta sternly said, “I’ll take you to the nurse’s station.”
“I refuse to owe *you* a favor,” the girl spat out, “Now let go of me before they catch up!”
As if on cue, a group of people swaggered onto the scene.
“Well, well, well,” a man with brown hair that was accented with pink bangs condescendingly said, “little miss princess hurt herself trying to run away again? What happened, Miorine?”
Suletta felt the girl tense up, “If you must know, I was trying to escape the smell of disgusting trash. Too bad you caught up.”
The man got in the girl’s face, “No one talks to Guel Jeturk like that. Especially not some failed-runaway princess.”
He raised his hand as if to slap her but, before he could, Suletta grabbed his arm. She noticed the girl- this Miorine- seemed rather shocked.
“E-excuse me… It isn’t o-okay to slap anyone…” Suletta stuttered. “A-also she’s hurt. I have to get her to the nur-“
Guel snapped his arm away, getting redder by the moment, “She is my girlfriend; I do what I please.”
Miorine seemed as if she was about to retort that statement, but Suletta beat her to it, “That’s e-even worse! You don’t treat someone you like like that…”
“As if he likes me,” Miorine tutted, “we’re only 'dating', heavy emphasis on that because my stupid father says we have to.”
Before Suletta could ask, Guel had it, he attempted to grab Miorine, “Tch. Yeah yeah, I’ll take what belongs to me now.”
Right before he could grab Miorine, Suletta side-stepped which caused Guel, who foolishly put all of his weight into grabbing Miorine, to fall onto the concrete.
The posse that he had with him looked stunned at what had just transpired. Guel had turned to look at the redhead, anger very present in his eyes.
Suletta freaked out and picked Miorine up bridal-style and ran away as she shouted, “S-Sorry!”
Before she got too far, she realized she had no idea where the nurse’s station was so she turned to the other man in the posse who resembled Guel a bit.
“E-excuse me, where is the nurse’s station?” Suletta asked.
The boy rolled his eyes before pointing in the direction that she needed.
“T-thank you!” she exclaimed and started running in that direction.
“YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS, COUNTRY BUMPKIN,” Guel exclaimed, causing Suletta to squeal in fear.
Surprisingly, Miorine had stayed quiet during this entire exchange. Maybe she was thankful?
-------
“IDIOT!” Miorine exclaimed as soon as it was just her and Suletta after the nurse tended to her ankle.
Okay, maybe she wasn’t thankful.
“What were you thinking? Are you new here or something?” Miorine asked.
“Y-yes actually… You ran into me right after I got off the bus...” Suletta explained.
“Oh, well that explains your idiotic heroism against Guel,” the silver-haired girl said.
“S-stop calling me an idiot. My name is Suletta! I was just trying to help you out,” Suletta aggressively said, getting upset with the constant demeaning names about her, “A-anyways, I’ll just go back to my dorm now that you’re okay. I have to rest up for my first school day tomorrow.”
“Sure. Leave me like everyone else does,” Miorine said with a bitter tone to her voice.
“W-what?” Suletta asked but before she could get any elaboration, a familiar presence was at the door. Suletta hid behind the lamppost out of fear.
“Did little Miss Princess get her booboo checked out? Did the nurse kiss it better too?” Guel asked in a mocking tone which was then accompanied by a laugh.
He attempted to get closer but Suletta moved from safety in order to be a barrier for Miorine, “L-Leave her alone.”
"What are you going to do about it?" Guel spat, "Try to woo her yourself?"
"What?! No! I just got here! Anyways, we're both girls!" Suletta stuttered.
"What year do you live in to be saying that?" Miorine interjected, "That's some homophobia if I've ever heard it."
"Wa-wait! I don't understand what's happening," Suletta nervously said, "I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings."
"Yeah, yeah," Guel said, attempting to move toward Miorine, "Just move out of the way already so I can collect my prize."
Suletta moved so that he couldn't get closer, despite shaking more than a wet dog, "She's a p-person. Treat her as such."
"You're pissing me off, country bumpkin," Guel snarled, "Fine. I'll leave you two alone for now. But don't forget, you're *nobody* in the grand scheme of things."
With that, he stormed off.
"What are you doing?!" Miorine screamed, "You just got here and what? Do you want me to owe you something? Why are you doing this?"
“W-w-what?! No!” Suletta stuttered while waving her arms, “It’s just, no one deserves to be treated like that. I just wanted him to stop treating you like an object.”
Miorine looked at her in awe once again, but quickly reverted to her usual attitude, “We’ll see if that’s true as time goes on.”
The silver-haired girl got up and began to walk away, her limp definitely improved with the proper bandages. Suletta went to protest but was met with a finger to the lips.
“If you truly meant what you said earlier… thank you, Suletta,” Miorine then quickly walked away.
Suletta, very bright in the face, pulled her phone out, “I have so much to tell Aerial and I just got here!”
After she told herself that, she raced to her new dorm room.
----------------
Suletta talked into her phone so much that it nearly became dead. While she put Aerial on the charger, she remembered that she had to prep for the start of her school life tomorrow.
She sighed deeply. She wasn't even here for a day yet and somehow she had already gotten into some kind of mess. She was just hoping that Guel would leave her alone while she tried to get through school...
The redhead didn't even want to get started on that Miorine girl. She was practically the reason this situation was happening and she didn't even seem to care one bit. Well, she did have a few moments of seeming to care... Suletta felt a phantom finger on her lips and raised her hand to feel it. Realizing what she was doing made her red all the way up to her ears and immediately put her hands by her side.
She slapped her cheeks and put on a smile. Suletta wasn't going to let anyone deter her from having a good start to school.
