Chapter 1: Fear

Chapter Text

It had been three months since his disappearance. Three whole months since Thomas had disappeared off the face of the earth and nothing had been found. The authorities had pretty much given up by this point so there was no point in pestering them about it without evidence. So what could Tarry do to find her brother? Why not investigate his last known location herself, since no one else seemed to be willing or able to.

If Tarry was going to do this she had to be ready for anything given his work’s reputation. She filled her bag with a pair of gloves, a bunch of smaller bags, some medical supplies, tools and a stun gun.The gloves and bags were for any evidence she found, the medical supplies were in case she got hurt and the tools were to help her get through things and defend herself. And so, with a determined pace Tarry went to Thomas’s workplace, The Mega PizzaPlex.

Thomas was a very kind and brilliant young man, after getting his degree from the local college in electrical engineering he quickly found a job working for Fazbear Entertainment. From what Tarry heard, he became well liked by his colleagues and often found time without work. Sometimes she even heard him talk about some of the coding of the machines. Most of it went over her head as she had a completely different profession but Thomas also seemed to struggle with understanding how it worked, which was odd for him.

Tarry kept coming back to the code detail as if it was important somehow. Maybe he figured it out and the company shut him up? The company was very resistant to letting anybody enter the PizzaPlex around when he disappeared. They claimed there was some kind of break in and that they were doing repairs but they never put in a report with the police. Maybe the animatronics got him, like in all those stories. Tarry quickly pushed the thought aside as they were only stories and no business would be able to stay open with homicidal robots roaming their facilities at night, but she still didn’t feel safe sneaking by the many security bots.

After ducking through a slighty open door, Tarry was able to get into the backrooms of the PizzaPlex where there were much fewer security robots for some reason. Why would the back rooms have less security than everywhere else? This company was completely backwards in everything they did. First ignoring missing children’s reports in the area, then getting rid of popular attractions, now some of the weirdest security imaganable.
Everything was dark and unsettling as she passed by the piles of boxes and junk in the halls, half expecting something to jump out from behind one. Tarry thought to herself.

“What were the three kinds of fear again? Right, creepiness, terror and horror.”

She was definitely feeling creepiness, as if she was in a horror movie setting. Following the signs, she quickly navigated through the halls to parts and service where Thomas said he worked as a technician. Tarry thought that if anywhere in this maze would give her clues, it would be his workspace.

If she thought the halls were weird, this place was something beyond that. As she entered the workroom she saw a giant tube in the center with glass windows and an oversized operating chair inside. The adjacent walls to the door had what looked to be interview rooms with large wall length windows looking into them. Tarry noticed that at least one of these windows is broken before movement catches her eye. There was a hulking figure at the other end of the room hunched over a desk. The figure was easily twice the size of her and seemed to have everything about them hidden by the shadows in the room. This wasn’t good, most of the employees should have left by now.

Upon seeing that she was not alone in the room, Tarry quietly turned around and started sneaking to the door she entered, figuring it was the safest way to get away from the massive thing. As she starts to pull the door open, a large claw quickly reaches over her and slams the door shut. She turns around to see that the person that was sitting across the room had somehow reached her without making a sound.

Looking up, she realizes the person in front of her wasn’t a person at all. They were an animatronic lizard with a dark gray covering that had light gray patterns streaking horizontally across their sides and back. Their darkish blue chest was blocking her escape. Dark red colored eyes, seeming like rings of dried blood, looked down at her, glowing. It spoke in a semi-robotic voice that was almost like a growl.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

Just as the massive robot finished what it was saying, it took a step back, nearly tripping on its own tail and stuttering something. Tarry didn’t pay attention to what it was trying to say as she was taking this opportunity to Taze it and duck under its arm to run.

This was terror, the fear of actually seeing the danger trying to get you. Tarry ran to the other side of the room, past the desk, where she found four metal doors and decided to take the one that was already open. At the end of the brightly lit hall, Tarry found an elevator.
In a panic she hit the only button in it and watched as the machine came chasing down the hall yelling for her to stop before the doors closed. When the elevator came to a stop she ran out into a small backroom, almost like a closet. Not wanting to stay here and with only one way forward she sprinted through the next door.

The room was much brighter than the cramped backroom and much bigger. The walls were painted red and a light purple and had an extremely large window instead of a wall. The large window had massive red curtains in front of it but not fully closed. There was a couch to Tary’s left with several Roxy plushies and memorabilia scattered across it and on the table in front of it.

Still knowing she was being chased, Tarry goes to the sliding door on the right. Right as she opened the door she heard a voice behind her speaking in bewilderment.

“Who are you?”

Tarry hadn’t noticed the mirror and desk in the corner between the two doors or the stage animatronic, Roxy, sitting at it.

Now with two animatronics probably chasing her and both larger than her, She ran as fast as she could to the main entrance. Getting outside was the goal now. As she ran, an automated announcement blared overhead saying the place would close soon. Tarry must have run faster than ever in her life because by the time she reached the main hall she was out of breath.

Horror set in, the fear of not having an escape from the monsters trying to get you. It was midnight, which meant that the building went into lockdown. Nothing got in or out, the door was barricaded by a metal cover. Tarry couldn’t get out and she had no doubt already alerted security of her presence by running through half the building. She was going to get arrested or worse be caught by the animatronics like in all those horror stories.

As Tarry stood, staring at the barricaded doors, trying to think of what to do next, she heard the sound of someone sipping from the straw of a now empty cup. Looking to her side she sees a child with brown hair, wearing a blue striped shirt and a pair of freddy themed sunglasses as well as all kinds of Fazbear memorabilia, sipping from a Fizzy faz cup. Before Tarry can decide on what to say or ask this child that just materialized next to her, he asks her a very bizarre question.

“First time?”

A few minutes later, the two are sitting at the base of the statute in the main lobby sitting quietly.

“So let me get this straight, you are a homeless child that has been living in the PizzaPlex for several months now and have effectively been adopted by the animatronics here and that I am not in any actual danger?”

“Yeah, you don’t really need to fear for your life here anymore. They’re pretty much regular people once you get to know them. Well minus the not looking human part.”

“Wait, anymore? What do you mean by that?”

“Oh, yeah a couple months ago there was some crazy stuff happening and if it wasn't for Freddy and Bliz I would have died.”

“Why are you so calm about this? We are talking about killer robots and your near death. Also who is Bliz? I know about the main four and some of the side animatronics but I have never heard of this one, are they an employee here?”

“Uhhh, both? He is an animatronic but he doesn’t do shows, at all actually; he just stays in the back and helps out with maintenance.”

“So is that who I saw in parts and service? Why didn’t Thomas ever mention him? Must be new."

“If you're talking about the gray and blue lizard animatronic, then yes that is Bliz.”

The kid seems a bit uncomfortable talking about Bliz.

“You never answered why you are so calm. You are living in a mall with near sentient animatronics that tried to kill you at one point. This is the kind of stuff that makes horror stories for kids your age.”

“Oh, it wasn’t just the animatronics but no one is doing that anymore. If anything they will try and protect me, almost as if they’re my parents. Besides I can’t exactly blame them for trying to do it as they weren’t exactly in control of themselves.”

“Ok, can you explain… all of that. I don’t really understand.”

“Well, you know about the missing children reports a few months ago? I ended up nearly becoming one of them, but managed to get away and hide in the pizzaplex overnight. Freddy was really friendly to me from the beginning and was trying to help me escape. We ended up separated a few times but Bliz found me and helped.”

Tarry interrupted Gregory’s story.

“Ok, hold on I want to know more about this Bliz, He scared the crap outta me earlier”

”Why don’t you ask him yourself?”

A voice from behind Tarry spoke up.

“Oh, you're interested in me are you?”

Looking to her other side from Gregory. She sees Bliz, the animatronic for parts and service, sitting next to her on the base of the statue. Tarry nearly screamed.
“How long have you been there?”

“Just a few minutes. How about I start with this? I was made as a side project by one of the technicians here.”
Tarry asks cautiously, still looking him up and down.

“Do you know what their name is?”

“Was, and it was Thomas.”

Bliz seemingly braced himself as if afraid of an impact.

"You were made by Thomas? This is great, I came here looking for info on his disappearance.”

Bliz cringes at her words for a moment before straightening himself.

"Ok, I’ll tell you more if you do some things for me.”

“As long as it's reasonable. I am desperate to find out what happened to him but I have my limits.”

“Good, but I need to start when the pizzaplex first opened.”
