Chapter Text
Scars morning had started out like any other normal day, or, as normal as they get for a borrower, waking up in his home he made for himself when he first moved in.
His home, a little room which had a tunnel connecting it to a hole in a wall that was tucked behind a bookshelf, wasn't a fancy entrance like scar had originally wanted it to be when he first moved here but then again its not like anyone could see. When he had first moved to this house, he had quickly come to realize that this place had a few cats who at first were definitely not friendly but after a bit of time and sneaking a lot of food to one of the cats in particular, scar became good friends with this fuzzy friends with the cats but was especially close to the cat named Jellie.
The humans were definitely no where near as observant as any of the cats and the mustached one who's name he found to be Mumbo, was always busy with something to do with redstone, and often had it smudged on his face and Scar swears he has seen him eat some while no one was looking.
However, the bird-human who's name he found was Grian (Scar had thought it was green until X-i-suma came around one day and had called him Gri-an), was definitely more aware of his surroundings, and often made chills run down scars spine when he nearly spots him, I mean a bird mixed with a human? not a great combo for borrowers like himself! he's heard what humans do to borrowers, and he himself has seen birds picking off members of his colony so a hybrid between the two certainly can't be good.
Scar thought to himself everything he needed to know about this household and its inhabitants, he needed to know when the were asleep to do his borrowing runs and needed to leave no trace that he had been there. He hadn't even managed to grab his stuff to get ready for a run when he heard scampering which was really not good..
And that's how he got to where he was now, on the run from a rat of all things. He could've died in such a heroic way like fighting a human with his needle sword, but no he was running from a rat. Its not like he'd be able to tell anyone if he died anyways.
And now here he is, running for his life, none of his equipment and despite being slow for a borrower, he was at least a tiny bit faster than the rat.
"Run, Run, and don't stop running," is what scar was telling himself repeatedly as he was getting chased by the rat, a pretty big rat at that.
"ACK-!" Scar took a quick look back and saw the rat chasing him, it had nipped at his cane causing him to lose his balance for a quick moment but he quickly regained it. He couldn't stop. He needed to keep going.
Scar wasn't a very fast borrower, that much was clear considering the cane he used to walk, that was the reason he was abandoned by his colony, he was a risk for the colony, a risk of getting them caught.
Scar was ripped out of his thoughts as the tunnel came to a close, he made it to the end, now where? There was nowhere to go he turned to face the rat who he had caught up by a little ways and thought,
This was it. The end of GoodTimeWithScar the borrower..
That's was until he was abruptly taken out of his thoughts as something grabbed at his from above the tunnel? A way out! Or it would be if there weren't a limb in the way. The arm, (if you could even call it that,) was reaching for him and lifted him out with a claw.
This was it, either get taking by this thing? That was trying to pull him out of the tunnel from above or meet his unavoidable death by being torn to shreds by some rat
its a lose-lose situation and in both situations its almost definitely going to be certain death.
Scar thought to himself. Well maybe it was his time, he'd lived to about 28 which was about midlife for a borrower if they were lucky and by himself too! it had been long enough to say that he didn't know how, if he even could, get out of this, his thoughts were doing him no good so he clutched onto his cane as tight as he could trying to focus on something other then death like his friend Jellie.
He may as well be laying down in his grave he dug out for himself when he decided living with humans, beings that could literally pop him with their thumb if they used enough pressure, was a good idea.
Before he could fit in a single other thought, scar opened his eyes, not realizing that he had shut them, then tried his best to figure out what was happening, he was no longer in the hands, or more like paws, of the creature but now instead was being taken somewhere whilst this creature was holding onto him the the shirt, in it mouth but not eating him for some reason he could not reason for?
While the 'not getting eaten' part was a bit of a surprise, scar whittled it down to be that this fuzzy creature was taking him back to its home to feed to its young, or something along those lines..?
There aren't to many other options that it could be, unless..? No! All he knew was it didn't appear to be trying to hurt him for some reason or another?
... Now what? Scar honestly just wanted this over with, he knows that he is about to die and although it wont be by getting torn limb from limb by a rat, it can always be worse.. (and it probably would've been if he were in the wild, but that is exactly what scar was forgetting, he wasn't anymore.)
In the time that he had spent thinking he hadn't realized that this creature, who he still hasn't been able to figure out who it was due to not being able to see it, had slowed from a relatively slow run down to a walk as it entered what appeared to be one of the rooms connected to some poles smothered in rope.
Scar knew this to be the 'cat-tree' as the humans called it, it didn't seem like a tree at all nor was it made of a bunch of cats like he thought it would.
His thoughts had thinned out to all be silent as scar realized that he was no longer in the grasp of this furry creature, but was now in front of it as it blocked the only entrance to the room leaving it to be quite dark although that was not an issue for scar as he is a borrower, and has excellent vision even in dark rooms.
Although it appears that the same can also be said about his dear friend who he hadn't realized was the one to save him.
In all of Scar's panic he hadn't thought about if who had a hold on him was someone he knew, he had only been thinking the worst, which is fair. I mean its not everyday you come that close to being torn to shreds and then whisked away by a giant that you can't see.
Scar was brought back down to earth when his favourite, one and only, friend Jellie had noticed his daze and had started pawing at him.
"Jellie!! Oh my stars weren't you in the right spot at the right time! Hahahaah Wow that really would've been the end of me.. But it wasn't!! Oho thank you, thank you thank you Jellie!! What would i do without you!"
Scar had started ranting to Jellie but quickly stopped as he felt the adrenaline leaving his body, he gave a half hearted laugh as he slipped down and leaned again jellies soft fur and tiredly said,
"Y'know Jellie, i woulda' bunked with ya' if, if the humans didn't. Didn't.. look in here, so *yawn* so, ..mm.. so often.."
Scar said before dozing off against Jellie, surely he would've lost his mind by now had he not befriended Jellie, being alone for long periods of time does no good for a borrowers mind.
