Work Text:
Rosalind stopped dead in her tracks at Andreas’ pronouncement of his plans for their evening, the door clicking shut behind her.
“You want me to watch the sequel?”
“I know you haven’t seen the first one but I can explain–”
“Fine,” Rosalind cut him off with a sigh, shrugging her jacket off and draping it over the back of the couch. At the very least, this method would be faster than watching the first film in its entirety. “Shoot.”
Andreas grinned in response before immediately launching into what was, in her opinion, a much more detailed synopsis of the first film than was strictly necessary. She allowed the sound of his voice to fill the room as she busied herself with getting comfortable; the moment she settled into the couch Andreas flopped down beside her, his head coming to rest in her lap. He was always expressive when he talked, especially at length, and she had to fight back a snort of amusement at the way the furniture couldn’t contain his limbs. Legs dangling over the armrest, hands waving in the air, and he was barely two minutes into his seminar on…she wasn’t sure what.
A concerted effort to suppress any snide remarks had to be made as she refocused her attention to the content of his speech and instantly recoiled. Letting him choose the movie was quickly proving to be a mistake – she’d expected he’d pick a thriller, something more calming, not a bloody action film.
“And he gets lowered right into the middle of the room and he’s so close to the floor…”
Ridiculous. It all sounded utterly ridiculous, and she didn’t hold out much hope for the second film to end up any better. But she hadn’t seen Andreas this animated in weeks, and the sparkle in his eyes was worth any pain she was about to endure. It wasn’t as though she had to pay attention to the film, not really. She was quite content to sit here with her hands in his hair and pretend for a moment like everything outside these four walls, outside the two of them, no longer existed.
“And then… are you even listening?”
“Course, darling.” In a way, she was. She slipped into his mind with a practiced ease, one that had only been amplified with time and familiarity. He never noticed when she did it, and she loved him all the more for it. It was like perusing a stack of newspapers laid out just for her – older issues contained images of key childhood moments, tucked away on page three of last week’s was an article on affection with her name woven through, and above the fold on the latest provided all the detail he was delighting in delivering currently. “You were talking about a train?”
He was the one person she’d do this for, that much she knew.

“Can’t believe I gave you the full rundown of the first film only for you to fall asleep ten minutes in,” Andreas teased after switching the television off. Icy blue eyes shot open to meet his own, her sudden rousing causing him to be on the receiving end of one of her dazzling glares. Entirely undeterred, he sauntered back over, bracing his hands against the back of the couch as he leaned over her. She was shooting daggers at him, but he would be hard pressed to not notice how relaxed she was underneath. Nor did he miss how her features softened the second before he captured her lips with his own.
After a moment she pushed him back with a firm grip on his chin. He could tell exactly what was coming next; could anticipate the tone before she even began speaking. “Maybe you could use that mouth of yours for something more productive than a film synopsis, hm?”
“What did you have in mind?” He knew, of course, but it was all the more fun to hear her say it.
“Your mission…” she began, and Andreas could only smirk as he sunk to the floor before her.
