Despite the weather forecast announcing clear skies for today, it had spontaneously started pouring as the two of you were about to head over to Ryuji’s place. Luckily you were always prepared for sudden weather changes, so you pulled a small collapsable umbrella out of your bag. You carefully opened it and looked up at your boyfriend.
“Not to worry, I have come prepared to conquer whatever the weather may throw my way!” You said with a grin, giggling at your own line.
“I knew I could count on you, you’re a lifesaver y/n!” Ryuji thanked you with a bright smile, reaching out to take the umbrella from your hand to hold it over the both of you.
“Let’s get going, yeah?”
You smiled back at him and the two of you were on your way through the rain.
Small drops softly drizzled down, enveloping you in their gentle sound. You looked up through the clear umbrella at the murky grey sky. You knew Ryuji found rainy days to be bothersome, mainly because he tended to forget his own umbrella on most days, but you always found them comforting. Something about the downpour made you feel like the world came to a small halt, like it was just you, the sound, the atmosphere and that special rain scent. And right now there was no place that you would rather be than right here, under this umbrella, walking through the rain with the boy you loved.
You glanced over at him with a gentle smile. His short bleached hair was messy and you suppressed the urge to reach over and ruffle through it. Even though a lot of people found his looks to be intimidating, you knew better. Ryuji was often misunderstood by the people around him. But walking like this, slightly hunched over and holding the umbrella, the only thing you saw was a loveable goofball. Your loveable goofball. That’s when you noticed his right shoulder was completely drenched. The collapsable umbrella appeared to be too small to keep two people dry, so Ryuji must have tipped it slightly to the left to keep you from getting wet.
“Ryuji! Why didn’t say say anything? You are getting soaked!”
You reach for his hand holding the handle to tip the umbrella more to his side, but he tipped it right back.
“Hey, This ain’t nothin’. I’d rather you stay dry” he grinned at you.
You could feel your ears turning pink.
“That’s no fair…” you pouted. “Guess I’m gonna have to get closer then!”
You scooted closer to Ryuji and wrapped your arm around his, lightly leaning your head on his dry shoulder.
“We can both take a share of the drizzle”
you chuckled and repositioned the umbrella to cover you two equally. This time Ryuji didn’t move it back but leaned down to give you a peck on the head instead.
“Guess I can’t argue when you put it like that” he muttered, and now it was his ears that turned a bit pink. You snuggled up to him some more and the two of you continued your way home. You were walking in sync through the puddles, mostly in silence, just enjoying each other’s presence and the sound of the rain drops that slowly grew stronger. A few tranquil minutes passed and you could feel Ryuji starting to fidget with his loose suspenders and glance over at you every so often.
“Something on you mind?” You asked and looked up at him with curious eyes.
“Agh it’s nothin’… just wanna get home quick.”
He sounded like he was on edge somehow, but you weren’t sure why.
“Why the rush? I think this is really nice, walking with you, sharing an umbrella… is everything okay?”
You squeezed his arm closer to your chest and looked at him attentively. Ryuji’s looked conflicted, scratching the back of his head before glancing over at you, his eyes lingering on your lips for a short moment before looking away again.
“Don’t worry about it babe, forget I said anythin’.”
“Hm.. if you say so…”
You didn’t know what to make of his expression, which was odd because Ryuji was like an open book most of the time. You decided to let it go for the moment and enjoy the remaining few minutes of your walk.
The rain had turned from a gentle drizzle into a full blown shower when you arrived at Ryuji’s place. Despite your best efforts to stay as dry as possible by walking close together, your shirt had gotten a bit wet and Ryuji’s right side was still soaked. You mustered him and the wet clothes clinging to his well defined body. God he looked so good. You took a mental picture and collapsed the umbrella. Ryuji grabbed his keys and unlocked the apartment. You stepped inside and crouched down to take off your shoes. You could hear Ryuji closing the door behind you.
You got back up and turned around to face him “Hey, what games do you want to pla-“ but you were cut off when Ryuji suddenly stepped closer and pinned you to the wall. His right leg between yours, he looked down at you with a fierce glow in his eyes.
“H-hey what are you-” You stammered, caught completely off guard.
Ryuji didn’t answer but instead started covering your neck in kisses, slowly moving down to you collar bone.
“R-Ryuji” you called out his name. your head was suddenly empty. His lips were so soft and you completely gave into the warm feeling that was spreading from your stomach.
“Fuck” Ryuji’s voice was shaking a little.
The blonde grabbed your wrist and pressed his lips on to your mouth. You parted your lips slighly to let his tongue slip in. The first few kisses were gentle, then growing progressively more intense. Your tongues entangled, you moaned into the kiss and Ryuji came even closer, pressing his body up against yours. You could feel your legs turning weak. With your free hand, you touched the back of his head, moving your fingers through his messy hair. Ryuji let go of your wrist and moved it down to unbutton your shirt. It was still wet on one side and clung to you, revealing to contour of your bralette.
You grabbed his hands to keep them still. “Hold on, right here??” You asked, still a bit out of breath from the kisses.
“I can’t wait any longer”
Ryuji had a desperate look on his face.
“I tried to keep cool but you just look too damn cute right now”
You could feel yourself turning red. Instead of responding, you grabbed his face with both hands and kissed him again. In one swift motion, Ryuji picked you up and you instinctively wrapped you legs around him.
The rain didn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon, but you weren’t planing on going home today anyways.
