Chapter Text

The sun shone down on the Zora Domain, the metal and refined stone platforms sparkled beautifully as the Zora people carried out their days. Some worked, others relaxed in cool bodies of water, and many children ran around the domain with their friends, ignorant to the goings on around them. The plap plap plap of their feet and their loud laughter cheered up all those who got to hear- well, except for maybe Mozu. The titular character of the domain once again found himself staring up at Mipha’s statue, barely noticing the pleasant day around him. He wasn’t sad, nor was he necessarily thinking about her; while he did often go there to reminisce about his beloved sister, and perhaps what she would think of Hyrule’s recent developments what with Link back, or what she would think of him , her statue also became a place for him to go and just think. After all, as the up-and-coming leader of the domain, he always had a lot to think about.

He was, in fact, so lost in thought, that he didn’t realize Link had teleported to the Ne’ez Yohma shrine in the heart of the domain and walked over to stand with Sidon, and look up at the statue to reminisce together, in the same way Link looks at the picture of him and the pilots of the divine beasts hanging on the wall by his bed. When he did finally notice a presence next to him, he had to do a double take, as he originally suspected, based on height, that it was a random Zora child or teenager.

Of course, upon realizing that presence was the great hero of Hyrule, he welcomed him with his signature sparkling smile.

“Oh, Link! Welcome! My apologies for not noticing you sooner, I was simply lost in thought. How are you, my friend?” He turned his attention to and looked down at Link, noticing his dirty but golden hair, new weaponry on his back, and shimmering blue eyes that looked back up at Sidon. Link gave a nod and a hint of a smile; an action that originally made Sidon believe Link was unhappy or just bearing social pleasantries, but came to realize through Link’s repeated visits that Link is simply less expressive than the average person, and his small smile was equivalent to Sidon’s ear-to-ear, er, fin-to-fin ones.

I’m fine. How are you?’ Link signed, and stepped back so they could have a proper conversation, what with the extreme height difference and all.

“I’m just fine as well. Though it’s nice to see you, I am curious as to what brings you to the domain.” Link followed Sidon’s lead to turn away from the fountain and start walking.

‘Visit .’ Sidon’s shoulders relaxed at his answer. ‘ I hope I’m not distracting you .’ They walked down the path together with no specific destination in sight, though Link took in the view of the beautiful village and the vibrant nature surrounding them on the peaceful day. A great beam of light shone across the sky from Vah Ruta, a testament to Link’s dedication toward helping the people of Hyrule, and Calamity Ganon’s coming demise.

“Oh Goddess no! I am always happy to make time for you, Link. I’m not all that busy today anyway. I’m glad you’ve stopped in to visit the domain.”

Link nodded, and raised and dropped his hands a few times in anticipation of saying something, deciding if he really wanted to be so bold.

Visit you .’ Link turned his head away from Sidon so he wouldn’t notice Link’s red face. After all, this wasn’t the first time Link had come to visit the Zora domain after defeating Vah Ruta- no, it was one of many. He started coming back in the first place to know more about his history with Mipha, and as Sidon regaled the tales of him, Mipha, and the few stories of the other pilots of the divine beasts that he’d heard of, Link and Sidon began to form a friendship. Soon he visited not only to learn more about the past, but to spend time with Sidon, his first true friend since his awakening in the Shrine of Resurrection. However, as of recent, he’s found himself wanting to turn his friendship with Sidon into something more, which of course was a ridiculous thought since Link had to do the whole defeat Calamity Ganon thing and Sidon’s a prince and the implications of them being together were just… far too much to bear. Not that Link truly believed he had the confidence to confess his feelings to Sidon anyway. Cutting off the head of a lynel was easy. Opening up? Not so much.

“To… to visit me specifically? Well. I am glad you enjoy my presence.” Sidon’s brain was too wracked with trying to decide if he thought Link’s response was out of friendship or something more to come up with something to say back.

Here, sit .’ Link removed the shoes and gloves of his Zora armor and sat on the edge of one of the many pools throughout the domain, dunking his feet in the water. The cold water was quite refreshing compared to the heat of Death Mountain he’d found himself in earlier. Sidon sat down next to him and did the same.

I made this, but after tasting it I decided it would be better to share with someone so we could both enjoy it .’ Link reached into his bag and took out something wrapped in paper- ah, a food of some kind? ‘ Honey crepe. Difficult to make. I had to gather ingredients from many different places, but I think it paid off .’ He unwrapped the paper to find a slightly squashed crepe slathered in fresh honey, with a small bite mark taken out of it.

“It looks delicious. Thank you for sharing it with me!” Sidon and Link both pulled off a piece of the sticky crepe, and took a bite.

“Mmm!” Sidon exclaimed with a mouth full of crepe. Zora mostly ate fish since they’re aquatic creatures and fish are easy to catch, so having something without seafood really was quite a delight. “It’s been such a long time since I’ve had honey. Tell me, how did you procure it without getting stung? Did you buy it somewhere?” Sidon looked to Link, an adorably innocent and curious expression on his face.

Link grimaced and pulled up one sleeve to show that yes, he got the honey himself, but he definitely did not do it without getting stung. Little red dots littered Link’s arm- Sidon gasped and wondered how many more of those little red dots Link had.

“Oh no… I’m glad you’re alright, but that must’ve hurt.” Sidon reached out and ran his hand over Link’s arm. While the dots were still very red, there was no swelling. Link enjoyed Sidon’s careful touch. His hand was smooth and soft.

“All that for a crepe?”

A very good crepe .’
