Eleanor Verlice , queen of kneanri’ah at the time, had a one heir to the throne, her eldest son Kazan Verlice. he was only 6 at the time when we wandered into his fathers study. he had seen something on a dresser pushed against the wall, he pulled out one of the drawers to reach the thing on the dresser, but the dresser had hit the wall, shaking everything on it and knocking down his fathers sword, piercing his sons skull, killing him instantly.
his mother, filled with grief of losing her son, had used a book passed down from her ancestors to bring him back to life. it didn’t work. she didn’t bring her son back, she created a whole new being, who was just a replacement for the child she had lost. she never looked at him the same.
years later his mother had twin sisters, mya and adela. they weren’t nearly treated as horribly as kaz, but adela was still treated as worthless.
Eleanor abused kaz all his life, leading to a crack in his neck due to his inhuman body.
his father was more merciful, he allowed him to have a friend, esen ragnvindr. he was a noble boy, fit to be a friend for the prince.
they were friends for years. kaz was only 16 when he was drafted into a war. he came back after only a few years and his only friend had been murdered (no one knows but Eleanor murdered him)
he was stuck inside the castle again until he was aloud to go to balls and parties to maybe find a future Queen, he hated the idea but did it anyways.
his mother had finally granted him access to a small part the outside world, a garden. full of fruit trees, flowers, and a beautiful fountain in the middle.
barbatos had visited kneanri’ah, he wanted to see what it was like there. but he had ran out of mora for a snack. he spotted a garden with apple trees and flew into it. he started picking apples to eat when he heard the door open and foot steps approach. He panicked and hid behind a huge tree to hide himself, he took a peak on who was there. it was a tall man with blue and brown hair, he seemed to be looking for something.
kaz heard a sound.
“who’s there” he called out.
the anemo archon walked out from behind the tree.
the prince had only recognized him from his wings, he was barbatos.
“aren’t you the anemo god? what are you doing here?”
barbatos stayed silent for a moment, then he spoke.
“oh! Hiya! I just saw you had some apples and I wanted to pick some. who are you anyways?”
“I’m Kazan verlice, next in line to rule kneanri’ah.”
“ohhh so you’re the prince! I knew you were too pretty to be a knight or guard.”
kaz blushed a little but he didn’t seem to notice.
“come on! sit with me.” the god sat on one of the benches in the garden, the prince sat with him.
they were friends for hundreds of years until one day durning monstadts windblume festival venti had brought kaz some cecilias.
“look what I got for you!” venti handed kaz the flowers.
kaz had had a crush on venti for awhile, but he was prepared to never tell him.
“kaz, I have something to tell you.” venti hesitated.
“hm? what is it?”
“have you ever heard that you’re only supposed to give cecilias to someone durning the windblume festival if you have feelings for them?”
“no I didn’t wh-“ kaz realized what he meant.
he stayed quiet for a moment.
“do you have feelings for me?” he asked finally.
venti stayed quiet for a second then nodded his head while looking away in embarrassment.
kaz hugged him and kissed his forehead,
“I love you too.”
only a few years later Kazan heard a knock at the door, it was pouring rain outside. He answered it, against the wishes of his mother. He had met eyes with a beautiful young man, Estrel. He would later become his assistant, and best friend.
another few hundred years of them being together, venti had wanted to propose, so he bought a ring.
he met kaz in the garden, they had talked for a bit until venti got done on one knee,
“Kazan, will you marry me?”
kaz was shocked, he had never thought about actually getting married before.
“venti, I cant. I cant marry you.”
venti had expected him to say that, he got back up and held kaz’s hands.
“what if we run away together? we can disguise ourselves as mortals and finally be together without having to hide!”
kaz sighed, “venti you know I want to, but I can’t just leave kneanri’ah. they need me here. I’m sorry but no.”
it had been awhile after, kaz and venti were still together. but one day kazs parents had told him that they had set up an arranged marriage with a Noble women, Alice.
kaz tried to argue but he couldn’t do anything. he waited for awhile to tell venti but he finally did, promising he’d always love him and only him.
kazs wedding day approached, he hated it so much but he had to smile and wave as if he wanted this.
after the wedding he met with Venti, he was where he usually was, in the garden.
“windblume I-“
“Venti. We need to talk.”
“Hm? What is it?”
Kaz hesitated for a moment.
“We can’t see each other anymore.”
It’s as if all of Teyvat was put to a halt.
“What? Nono you have to be joking!”
“Venti, I’m serious. We can’t see each other. At all.”
The tears that had formed in Venti's eyes suddenly came running down his face.
“What why? What happened?” Venti was talking so quickly Kaz could barely understand him.
“It’s not anything you did I promi-“
“No! You can't just..”
He couldn’t talk through his tears anymore.
Kaz hugged him while Venti cried into his shoulder.
“Why..”
“Venti, it’s not good for anyone if we keep seeing each other, someone’s gonna find out and then we’ll both be I’m major trouble. I’m sorry.”
“I still love you.”
“I love you too.”
Kaz gave him one last kiss.
“Venti, I promise we’ll see eachother again. Wait for me okay?”
Kaz walked into the palace.
Little does Venti know it will be the last time he’ll see Kaz alive.
Kazan had made a deal with the electro archon and her sister for the day kneanri’ah falls, he would kill pretend to kill makato, and her sister would kill kaz. no one had known about the plan besides those 3.
the day of the cataclysm, the archons had destroyed kneanri’ah. the electro archon makato, had been murdered in cold blood by the prince everyone had loved. he had forgotten his own strength and actually murdered her.
venti had arrived in kneanri’ah, he was searching for kaz, praying to celestia that he hadn’t been killed.
he finally found him.
“kaz! there you are!” he ran to him.
“get out of here! now.” kaz yelled.
“kaz don’t leave please, i wanna help you!”
“just g-“
Venti looked in horror as Ei’s spear shot straight through Kaz’s chest. He began crying as the blood ran down Kaz’s body. Venti scrambled over, hugging Kaz’s bloody body. His clothes began soaking up the blood, staining them. The spear was suddenly yanked out of the body and Kaz fell into Venti’s arms. Kaz was loosing his blood quickly as Venti was crying and hoping he wouldn’t leave him. With his last strength, Kaz wiped the archon’s tears from his cheek and told him it will ‘be okay.’ Venti could barley breathe from sobbing so much and suddenly, Kaz’s body went cold.
