Work Text:
A black hole consumes. It does not fear, it only prospers in its endeavors.
For what can defeat its mighty grasp?
It twists and turns the physical, ripping apart the limbs and stretching its body to oblivion.
It feasts on all things from light to dark, its main undertake to devour all.
Its greedy life source reigns on, lurking in the shadows.
It will suck in the life of any if you don’t keep an eye out.
Without a lookout, you are cursed.
Without help, you are damned.
Destined for demise in a never ending vortex of darkness.
You can close your eyes, but it won’t end.
It’s not a bad dream to be sucked up by a black hole.
It is reality. A reality most people would and should run from.
So why do we run towards it every day?
We take our alert from the thing lurking in the shadows.
The very thing that can destroy us inside and out.
This is because we cannot see.
We need light.
In space we take over.
To understand that there is a monster waiting to pounce.
Waiting to rip your limbs off and tear out your heart.
Why would we be willing for such a painful death?
Stand firm to the light, for it will cast out the shadows and reveal where it is the evil is hidden.
No longer will it have power. No longer will it be slowly whispering a calming song to you.
Pulling you close like a riptide on the beach.
Tricking you into putting out the light.
To taking a step closer to the serpent because it’s dark.
Turn away and reach out for the brightest star in the sky.
It symbolizes the peace and safety from the evil blackness hunting its prey.
With the light you are hidden, blinded to the serpent who now despises you all the more.
The only difference now is you are casted in light instead of the shadow.
No longer prey to the damnation that would have followed otherwise.
For where there is darkness, this is light, so cast yourself to the light, to which you are safe and loved.
