A day of crisp autumn air covers the land.
To as far as the eye can see, the sun is shining and birds chirp their songs.
Whatever is there to fear?
The world is calm, as the wind licks up the dying tree leaves from their cozy branches.
It is almost time for winter.
The weather turning to a dawn of frosty excellence spreading across the ground.
The sun will still shines though.
Bouncing it’s glorious rays off of the expanding snowflakes of ice.
It covers the cars, the trees, the grass, and even the air, changing to a whole other existence.
The air is no longer crisp autumn, but a sharp piercing of freshness and cold when entering the lungs.
Blow out a stream of heat upwards towards the sky.
The ice is blue now.
Forming cocoons of beauty around objects not of choice.
The roads are silent now.
Not a vehicle to be seen as the vibrant colored lights switch from one to another.
The doe looks out in wonder if it should cross, but it shouldn’t have to fear.
There are no cars.
All humans snuggled up warm in cocoons of their own.
Wrapped in blankets of fur with warm cups of liquid.
We watch the TV in curiosity of the weather to come.
Outside, those gorgeous small flakes of frozen water begin to fall.
As softly as a feather they come down before dying upon the ground.
The world will soon become engulfed in not only the blue ice, but these white crystals falling from the sky.
As night falls, a child wonders what it will bring.
A snow day from school, a silent night for all or—even better— both.
The world remains calm as time walks on into the deep freeze of a cold winter night.
