Work Text:

The restaurant was dimly lit, with the candle in the center of their table feeling like the main light source to highlight one another’s faces as they sat in the booth seating area that had become somewhat of a tradition with them. Ever since Gigi and Dani came here together, when their relationship was still an early friendship, it had become something of a regular date night spot that they loved going to.

They would share tapas with one another and talk about their weeks over a bottle of wine, all the while Gigi’s hand remained along the inside of Dani’s thigh. “I think we should get away,” Gigi said before taking a sip.

Dani’s eyes widened. “Really?”

Gigi hummed-mid sips and grew her glass down on the table. “Yeah. I think we owe it to ourselves with all the craziness we have endured these past few months. It’s our two-year anniversary at the beginning of the year, how about then?”

Dani leaned against the seat, a warmth spreading across her stomach. “Where would we go? Somewhere hot? Or somewhere cold to get cosy in front of a fire.”

Gigi hummed. “There are perks to both, but the first place that came into my mind was Greece.”

Dani could picture it instantly. The beaches, the food, the cute little streets in the town. “You’ve been thinking about it, huh?”

Gigi bit her grinning bottom lip, her hand moved to the back of Dani’s neck, twirling her fingers around the base of her skull in her hair. “A few times. You, me. Santorini.”

Dani captured a deep breath through her nose, humming sweetly. “Okay, stop, you’re making me want to go right this second.”

“Well, we’ll start looking after Christmas,” Gigi said with a promise in her tone, rubbing her hand up and down Dani’s thigh in a domesticated manner. “If I’m not filming by then.”

Dani’s head snapped back to her from looking over at another table's food. “What?”

Gigi chuckled, shaking her head. “I’m joking. Well, in a way. I’ve been approached by some realtor fucking reality show asking me if I would be interested"—she rolled her eyes—“I think to film some quota since their regular cast of women is very straight—at a majority—and very white.”

“The one on fucking Netflix ? I love that show!” Dani’s eyes returned to their widened state. “How have you not said anything?”

“Because I got the email from one of the women in it that I know about it just before dinner and I’m not going to do it so I didn’t see it as urgent news,” Gigi chuckled. “Could you imagine me doing something like that?”

Dani cocked a brow and shrugged one shoulder. “I can see why they saw you as an appeal.”

“Well, they’d have to keep looking for another lesbian realtor in LA because I’m not going to sign onto it.”

“I doubt they’d find one like you,” Dani said, her eyes flickering up and down her girlfriend’s body before she smiled at her when dropping a padron pepper in her mouth. The corner of Gigi’s mouth twitched with a smirk before she took a bite of something herself from the selective plates that they had bought.

“How are things with Dre looking?” Gigi asked. Their week had been so busy that they had barely had the chance to tell each other about any major events. Sometimes when they were at home they wanted to just be at home together and not bring work with them.

Dani shrugged again, bobbing her head through her chewing. “Pretty good. They’re writing some really good stuff, we just need to get them some kind of bigger platform than their socials, y’know?”

“Something will come along, you two have been working really hard for the past few months. And they made a good stamp with Fletcher’s album event…you’re doing great, and you’ve put them in a better position than they have been in before.”

Dani had to admit it to herself, she had to allow herself to give credit where credit was due. She had been working well with Dre, and she had been able to get them into some great spots and hopefully will continue to do so. It wasn’t just Dre waiting for their big break, Dani was waiting for it too. And she was trying really hard amongst other juggling the other events that she was in charge of. That side of her career was soaring. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” Gigi cooed, her thumb brushing back and forth against Dani’s thigh again. “I’m glad we did this, we haven’t able to do it for a little while.”

“I know, I’m glad too.”

Gigi tilted her head. “I’ve missed you.” They hadn’t been growing distant, in fact, it was quite the opposite. They felt stronger than ever, but sometimes when not getting around to doing some level of a date night it felt like they weren’t dedicating time solely for each other. They had been supporting each other with work, family, and friends. All great things. But since the car accident, they were yet to have a night like this. Just them.

Dani ran her fingers through Gigi’s curls. “Well, as dramatic as that is, I’ve missed you too.”

Gigi hummed pleasantly, her eyes going slightly heavier when soaking up Dani’s touch in her head, she rested her head against Dani’s palm for a moment before saying quietly, “Kiss me.”

Dani closed the already small gap between the two of them and pressed a soft kiss against Gigi’s mouth, beginning a hunger for something other than the tapas. She nudged her nose against Gigi’s when drawing herself back and reached for her drink and another piece of calamari. They finished their food, paid the bill equally, and walked out of the restaurant hand in hand when flagging down a cab to take them back to the apartment.

Upon walking into the kitchen when making their return, Dani tossed her bag on the kitchen counter and reached for the coffee machine to make the two of them a warm beverage before they were to curl up on the sofa or get into bed. With her back turned, she felt the sudden presence of Gigi’s hands coming around from behind her and running along her stomach. Dani closed her eyes and pulled her head back when Gigi moved her hair away and kissed her neck. Dani gripped her hand over Gigi’s, threading their fingers together and curling them together tightly.

Gigi skimmed her lips along Dani’s skin, her hot breath beating against her when whispering, “How is your skin always so fucking soft?” Her mouth moved to Dani’s bare shoulder from her off-shoulder shirt and nipped gently at her skin. “It’s ridiculous.”

Dani felt her cheeks go hot, she laughed and sighed when feeling Gigi’s lips tease her skin. She squeezed Gigi’s hands and bumped her backside against Gigi before she stepped out of Gigi’s hold and turned to face her. “I’m trying to make us coffee but if you keep doing that I’ll—” Gigi raised her brows at her with a teasing smile. Dani bit her lip, briefly closed her eyes, and scrunched her nose. “But I really do wanna watch another episode of Yellowjackets —and then this.”

“At least we’re becoming clear on your idea of priorities tonight.” Gigi slapped Dani’s sides and moved out of the way.

Dani leaned against the counter. “Maybe we could watch Selling Sunset and you could reconsider?”

“Oh, you’re hilarious,” Gigi said, walking into the bedroom to get changed into some loungewear. Dani placed the coffee down on the table and once she too had changed, they curled up on the couch, just as she had planned. They cuddled cozily on the couch and binged and watched their latest show until taking themselves to bed.

—No, that isn’t what I said.” Gigi knocked her head back, gripping her neck and rolling it, hoping to get the knots out.

“Of course it wasn’t, I’m just crazy,” Dani said, the pair of them walking into the large space of the apartment from their bedroom. “Is that it?”

“I didn’t say that either, stop twisting this, Daniela.”

“You called me a liar!”

Gigi’s mouth hung open, words getting stuck in her throat. Dani raised her brows and impatiently waited for the answer. Gigi motioned towards the bedroom from where they came from. “ No . All I said was that it wasn’t me who left the damp towel on the floor and there’s only two of us that live here…and you’ve had a bad habit of doing it.”

Dani pursed her lips together. “Well even if it was me—which it wasn’t—you’d be to blame anyway.”

Gigi burst into a small laugh. “How’d you figure that?”

“It was you who grabbed me as soon as I stepped out of the shower and made it very apparent that I don’t need a towel.”

“I didn’t hear you complain. And that was because you put on Yellowjackets instead of going to bed…so, if anything, it’s your fault.”

Dani squinted at Gigi as the woman slowly walked towards her with an arched brow. Dani shook her head and held a finger up when Gigi’s hands found her waist. “No, I’m supposed to be mad at you.”

“For you basically just admitting that you are the phantom damp towel dropper?” Gigi teased before stealing a chaste kiss. There was a period a few months ago where they were arguing about deeper stuff, and now here they were arguing like an old married couple about the most domestic issue ever. “But seriously, baby. Please pick up your towels. It drives me insane.”

Dani rolled her eyes. “ You drive me insane with how you leave your empty coffee cups on the table.”

“And who made the coffee last night?”

“Exactly, I made it so you should find the courtesy to have cleaned up.” Before the ridiculous argument could escalate further, Dani’s phone started to ring in her hand. Thank God

Gigi glanced at the name and hummed to tease. “Your ex-friend, I might just go call Nat.”

Dani swatted Gigi’s backside and answered the phone. “Hey, Soph. No, no, perfect timing actually”—she purposely raised her voice over to Gigi, who was now at the kitchen—“you just saved my relationship from imploding over towels and coffee stains!”

Gigi quipped a smirk over at her, fixing her dress robe and continuing to look at what she wanted for breakfast. Dani looked over to the view outside. “Nothing, doesn’t matter, what’s up? No, no I haven’t. We’ve just got out of bed really, what’s happened? Oh, shit. I—yeah, yeah I can do that. Today? Uh”—Dani turned, seeing Gigi now looking up. They had plans today. They had plans all weekend to try and make it just them since Nat had the kids. Dani winced at her. “I’ll be there.” She mouthed I’m sorry and Gigi frowned, throwing her head back. “Sure. Okay, bye.”

Gigi wasted no time when Dani hung up the phone. “Come on , Dani.”

“Baby, I’m sorry but Alice is in a PR crisis and they want me to help.”

“What kind of PR crisis?”

“She outed an NFL football player, like, a decade ago and it’s come back to bite her on the ass. They want me to help do damage control like I did with Bette when she was running for mayor.”

Gigi sighed, circling her finger around the countertop. “Alice can usually handle herself.”

Dani tilted her head as she came closer. “Come on, you know as well as I do that this is a pretty big thing for her to get landed in.” She reached forward and curled her fingers in Gigi’s robe. “Look, it’ll just take a couple of hours and I’m all yours and we will have all day tomorrow together.”

“Unless another disaster comes up…’ Gigi mumbled, like a wounded child. Which Dani tried not to find too amusing. She loved it when Gigi got all needy for her, it made her feel wanted on a whole other level.

Dani rested her chin on Gigi’s shoulder, trying to flash the biggest puppy eyes she could find doable. “I promise I will make it up to you. Why don’t you come with me?”

“What?” Gigi scoffed with a small laugh. “To Alice’s studio?”

“Why not?”

Gigi turned her head at her and debated until she raised her hand for a brief moment, softly shaking her head. “I’ll tell you what. Whilst you are fixing Alice’s shit, I’m gonna go run some quick errands myself, and then I will meet you at Alice’s studio and bring you some lunch.”

Dani’s smirk burst into a wide grin, she leaned forward and gave Gigi a chaste kiss on the mouth before she pulled herself back and began to run into the bedroom. “Thank you for understanding!”

Gigi pulled an uh-huh when placing a grape in her mouth and continued to make breakfast.

Dani was trying her damned hardest with Alice but no one quite prepared her for how difficult she could be. As a person, Alice was fun and a great human to be around. But as a client and the host of a show? Boy, she was hard to get an apology out of. It took Sophie out of the two of them to convince her to make a public apology towards the former NFL player she had outed. Though, when listening to her side, Alice had valid points for doing what she did. But that wasn’t the point, this was for saving face to the public and for saving her show.

She was working hard, typing away and writing over several drafts for possible speeches for Alice to say when she felt a kiss on her cheek and heard Gigi’s voice. “Hi, my love.” God, was it lunchtime already? Dani looked down at her phone, and Gigi was actually a half-hour late than what they planned, not like she noticed. “I came a half-hour late because I know you would not have been ready for the time we agreed.”

“Am I that fucking transparent?”

“With me, yes.” Gigi slid over the box of chicken caesar salad, from Gigi’s favorite deli. “For you.”

“Thank you. God, I’m starving.”

“How has it been?”

“Difficult.”

Gigi snorted and nodded when she glanced around everyone running around like banshees. “Yeah, that sounds like Alice. Do you want to read me what you’ve wrote?”

Dani nodded whilst chewing through her first mouthful of the gorgeously crunchy salad.  “Yes, okay…” she cleared her throat and resumed. “ Sometimes I lose sight of my own power and responsibility as a public figure, and it’s in those moments that I betray myself and my community.”

Gigi rolled her lips together and tried to tread as carefully as humanly possible. Dani was damn good at her job, and she wrote a powerful sentence. Just not one that Gigi could ever imagine coming out of Alice’s mouth. “It sounds great. It’s just…”

Dani’s expression dropped. “What?”

“It just sounds like something Bette would say and not Alice if you get what I mean.”

“It doesn’t fit the person I’m writing it for?”

Gigi scrunched her nose up for a small second. “Kind of. I’m sorry. It does sound good.”

Dani laughed breathlessly and squeezed Gigi’s hand. “I appreciate your honesty, I’d rather know than give something that would sound insincere. So, noted, see this is why it’s good you came when you did.”

“My pleasure,” Gigi said, opening her salad box and starting to dig her fork into it. Whilst the two of them started to enjoy some level of the day together with lunch, Sophie came marching over with a huff in her chest, pulling the phone from her ear.

“Rachel Maddow just pulled out.”

“Oh, shit,” Dani said with a gasp in the back of her throat.

Gigi almost choked on her salad. “Rachel Maddow was going to be here?”

“Yeah,” Sophie said, almost trembling. “But now with everything that has gone on, her people have decided it’s not for the best so she’s out and now we have nothing for the big part of the finale.”

Gigi frowned. “How’s Alice taken it?”

“I haven’t told her yet,” Sophie sighed. She knocked her head back for a moment and let out a noise that could only be described as a growl. Suddenly, Alice came riding out on the world’s smallest bike in a vintage daredevil jumpsuit and Sophie cursed at the news she was going to have to break.

“Maybe I should go,” Gigi said quietly to Dani.

But Dani put her hand on Gigi’s wrist and shook her head. “No, stay. Let’s go in the green room whilst Sophie breaks the news. I could do with a quiet space to get this done anyway. And as established, you’re good for me to have on hand to let me know if what I’m writing is actually radiating Alice.”

Gigi grabbed both of their salad boxes and followed Dani into the green room which was in fact quiet and empty. She closed the door behind them and laid everything down on the table. Dani pressed her forearms on her thighs and continued typing like a mad woman.

Ten minutes passed, Dani read out another attempt at her statement and that was it. She had it this time, the way she worded it did, sounded like how Alice would talk. It was heartfelt and genuine. “Great,” Dani said, blowing out a relieved breath. She closed the laptop shut and sat back on the couch, pulling the salad towards her. “Although I’m not sure it will even get used now with the shit going on out there.”

“I’m sure Sophie will be able to talk Alice round in not freak out too much…as for coming up with how to make up the final part of the show…well, we’ll leave that to her too.”

“And what am I supposed to do in the meantime?” Dani said with her mouth half full. “I mean, I’ve promised that I would stay until Alice did the speech to make sure it all goes smoothly, so?”

Gigi looked over to Dani and bit her lip as the oozing thought came into her mind. Oh, we can’t do that here . She took in a breath as her body ignored her mind and she placed her now empty salad box on the table and gravitated to the door. She locked the door and turned on her heels to face Dani once more. Dani looked at her with a curious brow raised as she slowly chewed down on the salad.

“What’re you doing?” Dani asked with her mouth still somewhat half full.

Gigi said nothing as she walked close to her girlfriend and finally knelt down in front of Dani, taking her lunch out of her hands and moving it to the side. She parted Dani’s legs and ran her hands up her thighs as she moved further in between them. “I’m giving you something to do whilst you wait.”

Gigi grinned when she put her hand on the back of Dani’s neck and brought her in for their mouths to press together in a hot and heavy kiss. Dani groaned against Gigi’s lips and fisted into her shirt, pulling her closer to her. Dani laughed against Gigi’s mouth as their tongues melted against one another. Gigi pressed against her harder, running her hands over Dani’s breasts over her shirt.

“This feels so collegey,” Dani was able to say in a heaved breath. “Getting felt up by my girlfriend in a back room with risk of someone coming in.”

Gigi traced her tongue against Dani’s bottom lip before entering her mouth for another deep second, asking with their mouths still connected to each other. “What’s wrong with that?”

Dani’s legs hooked themselves up to Gigi’s waist. “Absolutely nothing.”

Gigi grinned against Dani’s mouth, her hand smoothing under Dani’s shirt and sighing softly at the touch of Dani’s base skin. Th softest-fucking-skin to ever exist. “I love the way you feel.” Gigi pressed her lips to the curve of Dani’s neck.

“I love the way you touch me.”

Dani pulled Gigi closer, indication enough for Gigi to rise from kneeling between Dani’s legs and setting down on the couch next to her. She pulled Dani onto her lap, her hands resting on her backside and looking up as Dani’s face towered over her. “You look so beautiful today, everyday but—did I tell you that today yet?”

Dani grinned bashfully and buried her face in Gigi’s neck. Gigi laughed, wrapping her arms around her and kissing her collarbone. “How is it that I still make you all giggly and shy with stuff like that?”

“You get me like this every time you walk in the room,” Dani said. “You know you do.”

Gigi grinned and gripped Dani’s chin with her thumb and index finger, pulling her in for another kiss. Every inch of Dani made her hunger for more of her. She would have her right here, right now, on this couch. She could take it further and Dani would be game.

Dani’s teeth grazed against Gigi’s bottom lip, she gripped hard onto the back of her neck and said in a growling tone as she pressed their foreheads hard together. She wanted more too, it was obvious not only by the way she was kissing Gigi, but by the way her hips were rocking back and forth against her. Gigi’s body began to mirror the action, still keeping a tight hold. They could get off on just this alone with everything building up inside of them.

Dani’s clapped her hands on Gigi’s cheeks and burst out another breathless laugh. “What the fuck do you do to me?”

Gigi’s chucked and ducked her head down, her tongue ran along Dani’s neck and kissed her heavily. She hummed with pleasure as she watched Dani crumble around her. She wouldn’t stop until Dani was telling her to. Gigi cradled Dani’s face with her hand whilst her other palm pushed further against her center. Gigi returned her mouth back to Dani’s and kissed her deeply, feeling the vibrations from Dani’s moans project through her. Dani locked her arm tight around Gigi’s neck, her fingers digging into her shoulders as her brows furrowed against Gigi’s forehead. She had to pull back from her mouth to let her hot breaths fall out.

“I want you so bad,” Dani confessed. “All the time, it’s fucking ridiculous.”

Their eyes locked with each other as they caught their breaths. Dani sighed lovingly as she grazed her fingers down Gigi’s cheeks and kissed her more tentatively, slowing each other down before they got carried away. Gigi brought out this new kind of person in her, this exciting side that did things like this. Something she never would have done before. Dani never could have imagined doing this kind of thing back when she was engaged to Sophie, everything was always so serious outside of living together. But with Gigi, no matter where they were, it was always thrilling and having so much lust and love towards one another that it was insane to think how they were ever able to stop. Present moment excluded, that is.

Almost two years on and it never altered or faded. They wanted each other so constantly, not even just almost sex in a green room like they just had. But spending genuine time together, being with one another mattered so much that it was as if they were glued together.

“You’re too much,” Dani whispered breathlessly with a laugh in the back of her throat.

Gigi chuckled, brushing her nose against Dani’s. “You just can’t get enough of me.”

“This is very true.” Dani kissed Gigi sweetly. Suddenly, the door handle jerked.

“What the—” Sophie was heard from the other side of the door. “Why is the door locked? Guys?” She knocked on the door.

“Why did you lock it?”

Gigi shrugged a shoulder. “Just in case.”

Dani rolled her eyes and climbed off from straddling Gigi’s lap, her feet catching herself when she spun off the couch, and hastily shoved her shirt back in her pants as she dashed to the door and opened it.

“Hey,” Dani said. Sophie immediately looked up at Dani’s slightly scrunched-up hair and her face dropped. She knew exactly what just happened. “Jesus. The thing this green room has seen.”

“Everything good with Alice?” Gigi asked from the couch, swiftly trying to move on.

“No,” Sophie put blandly. “She’s bailed. But we’re still doing this show.”

Dani’s brows pinched together. “Without Alice? On Alice’s show ?”

“Yes, because it’s the fucking finale and I’m not going to let it go out like this. If we don’t pull off something good then we are for sure getting canceled.”

“Okay.” Dani looked at Gigi over her shoulder. “I guess we’ll go?”

“I was actually wondering if you could help me just a little longer and run through the possible ideas to make up the show with me?” Sophie pulled a strained grin, pressing her palms together in prayer. “ Please .”

Dani straightened her clothes a little more before she agreed and headed out the door with Sophie once having her laptop back in her hand, shooting Gigi a smirk like two caught-out teenagers. Gigi cleared everything up, propped the pillows back to how they originally were, and followed Dani out.

Gigi walked over to Dani, who was standing on the other side of the table, and placed her hand on the small of her back when handing over a cup of coffee she got for her as well as her own. “I’m gonna go, love. I’ll leave you to it.”

Sophie suddenly gasped and clicked her fingers before pointing them at Gigi. “You could have a spot talking about lesbian real estate.”

The two stared at her in brief shock before Gigi snorted. “I’m good, thanks. I’ve already been offered one too many TV gigs this week.” She watched as Sophie dramatically whined and knocked her head back for what must have been the third time today, ranting how they still have one last spot to fill at the very end and suddenly an idea came into the fold. “Dani. What about Dre?”

Both Dani and Sophie snapped their heads to her. Dani gripped tightly onto Gigi’s arm. “You’re a fucking genius”—Dani whipped her head to Sophie—“she is a fucking genius, get Dre.”

“You think they’d go for it?” Sophie asked.

“They’ve been working on new material. They’re new but…”

But Sophie already seemed in agreement. “I’ve been wanting to do this kind of thing for so fucking long. Make the show about bringing in new talent. Queer talent.

Dani’s face lit up. “Okay, then let’s do it. I’ll give them a call.”

Dre was able to show up within the hour and everything was set up on the stage for when it would be their cue. They were nervous as hell, but Dani was able to talk them through everything and make them very aware that this was their big chance. This was their moment. And they had to take it. So they did, they rushed to the stage without any real thought. All Dre knew was what they were going to sing and that they were going to sing it damn fucking good.

When the band was set up and it was Dre’s time to sing, Gigi was still there. Dani didn’t want her to leave, and Gigi didn’t want to go. She wanted to watch Dre perform live having never heard it before and see the kind of work that Dani had done with them in helping them get to this point. They started singing and it was already heavenly, the song that they had written was good. Really good. The entire time it just made Gigi look at Dani. Soak her in. Entwine their fingers together. She watched as Dani mouthed along to the words and she couldn’t help the adoring smile and warm fuzzy feeling that grew in the pit of her stomach. She loved this woman. She loved her so much that it was almost terrifying.

Their communication and the way they were always so open with each other was refreshing, it was new to even her. Even after a long-term relationship and a marriage , that element was a new feeling. Gigi looked down at their hands, watching Dani’s thumb stroke against her back and forth, with such natural instincts, Gigi wasn’t quite sure she was aware that she was even doing it.

Gigi rested her chin on Dani’s shoulder and whispered into her ear. “You did good, babe.”

Dani hummed, leaning her head against Gigi’s with her eyes still on the stage. “You think?”

“I know.”

Dani looked at her and smiled, she didn’t say anything, she just brushed their foreheads together for a small moment before both of them put their eyes back on the stage and listened to Dre play out the rest of their song. Gigi couldn’t imagine that this wouldn’t go down like a house on fire, Dre was exactly the kind of voice that queer people needed. Their music spoke out. The studio alone applauded like crazy when Dre had finished their set and the show had ended. They had done it, and even Gigi helped in this department. They had banded together with ideas and helped bring Alice’s finale show to a great close, without Alice.

Dre jumped off the stage and made a b-line for Dani. They wrapped their arms around her and spun around in a hug. Like Roxy, Gigi had her suspicions. But considering they were probably on cloud nine that they had just played live in front of millions of people, she would let it slide and not think too deeply about it.

“Thank you so fucking much for putting me forward,” Dre said to Dani.

“Of course, well actually it was—” Dani looked over to Gigi when she had caught her eye, Gigi shook her head and waved her hand over her neck back and forth. Gigi didn’t want Dani to give her any of the credit. She deserved for Dre to see her as the great representation that she was. Dani gave her a look of gratitude before she pulled her words back. “It was the perfect for you. And you did great.”

“Thanks,” Dre took another moment, shaking their head in disbelief and pressing their hands on the back of her head. “Shit, that was insane.”

It wasn’t just Dre that was on a high after the performance, Dani was too. It was electric from the moment Dre got on the stage and lasted all the way home when they left the studio. She was manic with positivity about the possibilities that this could bring for Dre and if Dre became successful than she would be come successful in bringing in more clients.

Gigi listened to it the entire way home and watched how happy it was making her, and all she could think was how much she loved her. How she loved watching her light up and ramble. She wanted to spend the rest of her life listening to Dani’s excited rambles. She’d spend the rest of her life being the one that Dani came to with all the good news that happens to her.

The two of them walked through the door of their home when finally reaching the apartment building. “God considering I was hating the fact that I got dragged into this, what a fucking great day it’s turned into—and, I mean, we even got to spend the day together all things considered.” Dani looked at Gigi, who was looking at her when leaning against the counter. “I mean, I swear, tomorrow I will make it up to you.”

Gigi chuckled. “It’s fine—”

“Just you, me, bed and plenty of snacks. We’ll have the best lazy day of your life.”

“I enjoyed today too,” Gigi said in a soft voice. “I never thought I’d like hanging around my girlfriend as a plus one with her job before but, I really did have fun. I think most of that just comes down to the fact that I love being with you no matter what.”

Dani grinned, walking over to her and placing her hands on her cheeks. “I love being with you too.”

Gigi stroke Dani’s back as she kept her close, finding her gaze drowning into Dani’s eyes. Her mind going elsewhere, and it became obvious. Dani tapped the tip of Gigi’s nose with her own. “Where’d you go?”

Gigi took in a breath. She couldn’t bury the thoughts that had been brewing not only today, but for the past few weeks. Or if she were honest, ever since the accident. “I love you.”

Dani smiled in another bashful tone at the sudden proclamation, it wasn’t as though she had never heard it before. But it felt deep and out of place from all the overjoyed ranting, it was always a good feeling to hear. “I love you.”

“No, really I…” Gigi bit her lip and to build up her own confidence, she pulled Dani close and kissed her. Softly and tenderly. She felt Dani’s lips curl against her in a smile and hum sweetly. Gigi kept her eyes closed and reeled her head back. Just say it . “Do you want to get married?”

Dani’s smile suddenly dropped with shock, she was silent, processing the words that had just come out of her girlfriend’s mouth. She took a small step back, but still remained loosey in Gigi’s hold. “What?” She heard her perfectly, she just needed to hear it again.

Gigi blinked, her mouth hanging open for a moment when trying to find her own words. “I—I don’t know I just…I can’t stop thinking about it…” Gigi took in another breath when taking in one more captivating moment of Dani. “Do you? Want to get married?”
