In the middle of black hole in space, in the midst of darkness and irking taunting walls, Regulus found comfort in the bright star his brother Sirius was. Always untroubled, stoic against their parents expectations and curses, brave upon facing black storms, and loyal to his heart.
The first year he left for Hogwarts, Regulus discovered the penetrating cold of loneliness and the bitter taste of (unfounded) betrayal. Sirius didn’t keep his promise of writing often, and it grew more obvious for Regulus how much they belonged to different constellations.
Therefore, when it was his turn to join him, the lion and the snake, unwillingly, grew apart. Not that it meant their bond faltered in strength, as being raised in a night-full house caused that to naive hearts, yet Regulus stood behind while the older Black rejoiced under the key light, alongside his three marauders.
For that reason, as the years passed, all Regulus thought, against his better judgement, was that he wished he could be like the cool kids.
