“I have some news and you’re not going to be happy about it.” Gen sat down next to his friend at a lunch table near the corner of the University’s cafeteria. Which was good because if he was going to be scolded for what he tells him, he doesn’t want people to hear it.
Ukyo sets down his sandwich and looks up at Gen. “If this has anything to do with you failing another math test then I can’t help you.”
“No! It’s not that, it’s… he found out.” Gen confesses and slumps his shoulders.
Ukyo looks at him with an eyebrow raised. “Who’s he exactly, and what did he find out?”
Gen looks at him dumbfoundedly. “Um… the only guy we ever talk about? Well other than Chrome and that painfully obvious crush you have on him—”
“Stay on topic.” Ukyo scowls.
“Okay, okay, sorry.” He apologizes. “But I’m talking about Senku!” He found out that— you know…” Gen leaned in closer to Ukyo’s ear and whispers “I’m Spider-man.”
Gen studies Ukyo’s expression as he creases his brows. “Okay…” He says slowly. “It was bound to happen eventually, so, how did he find out?”
Wow, Gen was surprised that Ukyo wasn’t screaming his head off at him. He didn’t know what he meant by 'It was bound to happen eventually,’ but that was question for another time.
“Well it was late last night and he was in my room but—”
“Ew don’t tell me you told him you were spiderman while you guys were having sex.”
“W… WHAT?” Gen wheezed. “Ukyo what the hell are you talking about, we aren’t even— he doesn’t even know I li— can I finish?” Gen just huffs.
“I don’t know, can you?” He asks with a smirk.
Gen rolls his eyes. “You’re gross.”
“You’re the one who’s gross. Telling me about you and Senku’s secret identity sex discovery.”
“WE DIDN—” Gen calms himself down. “Okay, one? We aren’t dating, or I would have told you by now. Two, he’s not aware of my feelings. Now that that’s established, can I please continue?”
“Sure.” Ukyo said boredly.
“Okay, thank you.” Gen says. “So basically he already had a hunch I was spider-man and made this plan to sneak into my room when I was stopping a bank robbery last week.”
“So are we just ignoring the part where he snuck into your room or…” Ukyo interrupts.
“He said it was because he had a hunch!” Gen exasperates. “Anyway so I crawl into my window cause I got stabbed and—”
“You got WHAT?! Jesus Christ Gen you have to tell me about these things,” Ukyo interrupts again.
“That’s why I’m telling you now!” Gen smiles. “Anyway he saw me with my suit on and I couldn’t think of an excuse in time so now he knows.”
“And are you sure he’s not working with somebody? What if Xeno or Ibara or who knows sent him out to seek you out?”
“Ukyo stop, it’s not like that. I trust him a lot. Plus from our gatherings Xeno doesn’t have any family or connections to this city other than Stanley, and Ibara is in jail” Gen says more seriously.
“Just… be careful Gen. Don’t let him get too close.” Ukyo warns.
Gen smiles and gives him a thumbs up “Yup, got it. No getting close.”
2 days later…
“Nope! NO! This is suicide. Why do you hate me? I refuse to do this.”
“What’s wrong Senku~ Don’t tell me you’re scared?”
“I have made that clear countless times that I am terrified!”
“You’re the one who said you had somewhere to be soon. I’m just trying to get you there in the quickest way possible.” Gen wickedly smiles.
“Yeah but I didn’t know you meant this!” Senku shouted as he stood at the top of a building.
Why is he there exactly? Because Spider-man, also known as Gen Asagiri, thought a good way to hang out with one another would be to swing from building to building for God knows how long. And sure, maybe it would be fun if Senku wasn’t awfully afraid of heights.
“If it makes you feel better I’ve saved many people from falling buildings before so I won’t drop you.”
Senku rolls his eyes at the remark. “I’m sure they were swooning.”
“Oh they were.” Gen grins. “But I promise you it won’t be that bad. Don’t you trust me?” Gen asks and Senku already knew he was probably making a pleading face under the mask.
Gen watches as Senku knits his eyebrows together, debating with himself.
“Alright,” Senku sighs, giving in. “As long as we take it sl— OWWW” Senku barely finishes his sentence as Gen yanks him close and starts swinging. Out of instinct Senku latches his legs around the other’s waist and his arms around his neck. He has his eyes closed but takes a peek to look around and sees how very… very high up they are.
“You know it’s better if you don’t look down.” Gen snickers.
“It’s hard to not look when I’m scared of falling to my death!” Senku flailed his hands around and shifted a little bit. He quickly grabs onto Gen again to keep his balance. “See?” Senku mutters.
“That was all you… but I promise I got you.” Gen tightens the arm he’s not swinging with around Senku. The movement felt a bit awkward because it’s not like Gen casually takes people swinging with him all the time. Honestly when he saves falling people it’s usually just a catch and slowly brings them back to the ground, but what he’s doing with Senku is new for the both of them. Although the other boy was grateful Gen couldn’t see his face reddening, though Gen’s was the same underneath the mask.
Gen makes a very huge jump from one of the buildings he was swinging from which drops then down before coming back up which takes him faster than usual.
“Holy shit. Holy shit. Fuck!” Senku yells. “I can’t believe this is how I’m going to die.”
“You’re not going to die!”
“How would you know?”
“Because I’m Spider-man.” Gen says triumphantly and he can practically feel Senku rolling his eyes. “Plus we’re almost at your flat, see?” Gen gestures at the building not too far from them.
“It’s almost over already? What a shame.” Senku says sarcastically but Gen can tell he’s relaxed a bit which makes him smile.
“You can admit it, Senku. You had a little fun.” Gen says after they opened the window to get into Senku’s room.
Senku scoffed. “As if, next time I need to be somewhere I’m taking the bus, my heart is practically beating out of my chest.”
“That’s the rush of it all!” Gen says as removes his mask. “Even my heart is beating, see?” Gen takes one of Senku’s hands and lifts it towards his chest. It probably wasn’t the best idea because Senku touching him made it beat even faster.
“Wow, yeah. I think it’s beating faster than mine. Are you sure you weren’t scared of dropping me or something?” Senku asks as he removes his hand.
Gen laughs. “I totally had you covered, it’s just my Spidey senses cause my heart to beat faster than the average human.” He lied, straight through his teeth.
“If you say so.” Senku smirks. “But even though I was scared out of my mind, thanks for bringing me here.” He says and Gen can sense the nerves in the way he talks.
“I really appreciate it.” Senku says bashfully.
“I—uh, it’s no problem really. It’s only my duty as Spider-man.” Gen says quickly and he can see how Senku’s fond expression slightly diminishes.
“Yeah… Spider-man.” He says quietly. “Well can you tell my friend Gen that I will see him in class tomorrow?” Senku says with a smirk.
Gen laughs. “Yeah I’ll be sure to let him know. Although he might be too tired to go due to the whole saving the city job he has going on.”
“Oh right, how could I forget.”
“How could you?” They both laugh.
Gen makes his way to the window. “I’ll see you around, Senku.” He says as he leaves.
“See you later, Gen.” Senku says with a whisper.
xx
Later that night Senku goes to visit his fathers house to eat dinner with him. It’s been a while since they have last seen each other due to Senku being so busy with university after all.
Senku arrives at his fathers house a little later than expected. That being due to having to recompose himself after being frazzled from one, seining of buildings, and two, Asagiri Gen holding him the entire time while swinging from said buildings.
Senku knocks on the door twice before the door swings open to reveal his father, Byakuya.
“Senku my boy! I’ve missed you so much. You need to start making more time to see your old man.”
“I know, I know, I’m sorry.” Senku sighs. “School has just been a lot lately.”
“Don’t apologize, I understand.” Byakuya smiles. “But that aside, you know you’ve been all over the internet lately? I think you’re going viral.” Byakuya taps his chin.
“W-what? Why? I haven’t seen anything.” Senku almost wheezes.
“Hold on, let me show you.” Byakuya pulls out his phone. “See, ‘Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man saves teen boy.’” Byakuya reads.
‘God dammit.’ Senku thinks.
“Luckily there wasn’t a close up or name involved but I know my son's hair well enough to know who it was. I have so many questions. Are you okay? How did it even happen? Were you hur—” Byakuya got cut off by the sound of a doorbell.
“Ah! That must be my friend. He’s eating dinner with us too. I hope you don’t mind. He was in town and I told him about the video as soon as I saw it! He’s also a fan of Spider-man so I’m sure he also has questions. Let me get the door.”
“Your… friend?” Senku asks.
“Yes, you remember him, although you were young when you first met— hey!” Byakuya greets as he opens the door. The man in the door frame is very tall and lean with white hair. He shakes Byakuya’s hands and returns the greeting with a smile.
“Hello Senku.” He says as he turns to his direction.
Senku’s eyes widen at the old friend. “Dr. Xeno?”
