"Watch your steP-" Natsume barely catches them as they slip on the mossy rock. He sighs in both relief and amusement adjusting his grip on his flashlight. How clumsy.
"I should have knowN, here take my arm insteaD." They wrap their arms around his bicep and he winces. Their grip is a bit too tight but better that than let them hurt themselves. They're almost there anyway, a mild ache in his arm is nothing.
Besides the look on their face will most definitely be worth it.
They shuffle behind him, following his lead down the narrow branches and thick roots. He slows his steps and tugs them closer, hoping the heat of his arm is enough for now.
"We'll be there sooN, just keep your eyes closeD."
He pushes the last few branches out of their way and sighs in relief to find everything undisturbed. It pays to prepare doesn't it?
Natsume gently plucks their fingers from his arm and grasps their hands into his, enjoying the cute expression of anticipation on their face.
"AlrighT, on the count of three you can open your eyeS. One...two....threE-!"
As soon as the word leaves his lips their eyes flash open and dart about to everything around.
And his heart warms at the sight of them in absolute awe at what they see.
Hung above them on various branches translucent colored glass baubles filled with magic glow at different intervals. Below on the ground a tent is spread opened to reveal various pillows and blankets. Beside the tent camping supplies for a night as well as few books about the stars and basic magic.
It's a small set up but it's comfortable and for what he plans, it'll do as a stage. He let's go of their hands and snaps his fingers, the lights once trapped in the baubles now dancing freely around them.
This was what he wanted to see, the wonder in their eyes and the cheer in their smile. Life has been rough on them lately, taking the glow in their eyes with it
But while he's not the best at comforting words he hopes that this can help bring them happiness and strength.
