“This is it, Tsukasa!” Miku shouted, bringing her hands up to cup her face. “This is the underdeveloped Sekai created from your feelings! It may become its own after a little bit, but it’s also very unstable on its own! If we stay here for long enough, we’ll be thrown right out back into Wonderland!!!” Her eyes widened as she stepped onto the tips of her toes, eyes starry and mouth slightly parted in wonder.
Tsukasa settled his hands on her shoulders, pushing her down so she wouldn’t hurt her toes. “Well, things like this are just things that stars like me have to handle. We shall search this entire place! Leave no spot unturned!” He brought his fist in front of his chest, the other on his hip with his face settled in his usual half-lidded wide-grinned face.
Miku vigorously nodded and leaped away to look at the walls - a light white, covered in pictures. Most of the pictures were of him and his siblings, Kanade, Toya, and Saki, during special times - when Saki got out of the hospital, Toya getting adopted, Kanade waving to a camera whilst visiting her father and a few birthday’s here and there. There were also quite a few of them all visiting with their large group of friends, consisting of almost all of their groups. A smile spread across the self-proclaimed star’s face like butter at the scenes.
The ceiling was filled with a rainbow of balloons, disorderly and chaotically arranged. Their streamers came down, brushing at the tips of his fingers when he reached an arm towards the ceiling. The streamers were light and pastel, pinks, blues, and yellows coming down to wrap like snakes around the tips of his fingers.
Miku bounded through rows and rows of velvety red chairs, arranged in a soft curve, facing one curtain-covered wall. When he stroked the fabric, it was the same velvet as the chairs, deep red like the blood that used to drip into Saki’s veins when she needed her transfusions and wouldn’t be able to do it without her brother holding her hand.
He pulled the curtains apart, thin fingers gripping the soft fabric tightly. The curtain rings clanged against the high metal bar holding them up. Behind them was a stage, waxed wood shining in the artificial light. He pulled the left curtain along with him while walking to the edge, right curtain clanging and falling back into its closed state. The stairs creaked under his feet, the screeches echoing throughout the theater. Miku’s wandering eyes landed on the middle of the stage, a grand piano with the brightest spotlight pointed at it.
“Wow wow wow, Tsukasa!! This undeveloped sekai is amazing!! It’s so big!! And soooooo shiny!!!” Miku scrambled up behind him, and as soon as she got there she clasped her hands behind her back. Her pom-poms bouncing up and down with her steadily increasing elevation.
Tsukasa didn’t respond, just continued up the stairs. He circled the piano, eyes flicking across the glistening wood. The porcelain keys didn’t quite catch the light, but the black ones shone light obsidian. He sat down on the bench. The keys were covered in a light dust. The spotlight caught his eyes, making them slightly tear up and the brightness. He brought his fists up to scrub at them.
“It’s soooooo nice here Tsukasa!!!” Miku spun around the stage, hands and face turned up towards the balloons and the spotlight. The balloons were bumping into each other constantly. They formed a film in front of the lights, colors dancing across the stage.
Tsukasa’s eyes absorb the colors, eyes point towards the transparent rubber, pupils expanding from the diluted light. It danced in his vision, lighting up his senses, seemingly jump-starting his brain. His fingers settled on the keys with no pressure. His mind was going too fast for him to decide what to play. He closed his eyes, face covered in the lethargically moving light, lips parted while he thought.
Miku’s shoes clacked against the wood rhythmically, her ears flicking on top of her head. Dust was lazily falling from the ceiling, dancing for her. Her hands had fallen down to fold around the edges of her skirt, but she now raised her right one to tangle with the streamers, snaking her fingers among them. She plucked one of them between her fingers and tugged, bringing the shiny, peach colored orb down to eye level. She brought it aside and looked at the still silent Tsukasa. The color of the balloon was the same as the tips of Tsukasa’s hair.
Tsukasa’s eyes flew open, his fingers dancing across the keys, bright notes flooding out from his pink fingertips. A cheerful tune flooded the theater, magnified by the walls of the theater. Miku’s ears flicked back and forth at the tune. She smiled at the music, let go of the balloon, and tugged another one, this time a bright tea green. She tugged its light blue ribbon a few more times to the beat Tsukasa had set, letting the rubbery sound reverberate throughout the hall. She twirled with this one, letting the light go through it and shine down on her dress.
It seemed they were spending quite a while here, far much longer than any of the other small Sekai. Perhaps this one was more developed than she believed. Tsukasa’s song didn’t last long, but when he started up another one, Miku grabbed yet another balloon and just twirled in the other direction. When she opened her eyes, and looked away from the colorful and pleasant display towards the body of the theater, the edges were fizzling out, small flakes and chunks falling away into a black abyss.
“We don’t have much time left here, Tsukasa. We can come back again on a different day. We should enjoy the last few minutes we have here, before all of it has faded.” Miku walked over to Tsukasa, balloon bopping to her steps.
He looked up at her, eyes glazed from focus, “Okay then.” He stood up, bench screeching against the wood. “Should we go now?”
“It would be ideal, yes. Here!” She pulled out the small crystal of solidified feelings. It produced an orange-yellow luminescent glow. “Touch it and we’ll go back to Wonderland!! We can come back in a week or so!” About half of the theater had crumbled away, the blackness a stark contrast to the shining colors.
“Alright then! As your shining star, I shall protect you on your way back!” Tsukasa smiled at her with his fists on his hips. Miku smiled back, pressing her open palm closer to him. He reached a calloused hand out, gripping the peachy crystal with his long, thin fingers.
Warm, bright light wrapped around Miku and him, encasing them in a protective shield. The small theater dissolved around them, a bright theme park wrapping itself around them once again.
Tsukasa stumbled across the ground, legs wobbly from the journey. Miku stood still, smiling at him. “C’mon Tsukasa! The others should be here by now! We have a show to put on for your plushies today!” Miku reached out a hand, offering to help him up.
“Of course, Miku! We must put on a beautiful show!” He grabbed her hand, pulling himself up. The walked, hand in hand, towards the large stage that Tsukasa’s mind had created.
