Her stare froze Katya to the bone, the way the plunge into the waves couldn't.
The silence and the ticking of the clock stretched the moment out into a small eternity.
She wondered if she could spend an actual eternity under Sofia's focus, like that. To have the world fade out, until all that was left was the cold and a steady heartbeat.
Would she take pity? Offer her the warmth they once shared, again?
"You'll catch your death," Sofia finally said.
Katya's lips cracked into a smile.
"I'm in no hurry," she said, stepping into the other woman's space.
