Chapter Text

Coming home with Wednesday for the holidays wasn't something Enid had planned at all.

In fact, earlier that day Enid was moping for being stuck all by herself in Nevermore just like the past years. Her parents had gotten her hopes up, telling her she was welcome to come home.

And then they had said they'd be visiting her sister instead and it would be better if she just stayed in Nevermore. She had been sullenly unpacking her things when Wednesday spoke, already by the door with her bags.

"Would you like to come home with me? Though I can't promise you'll survive."

That's how she found herself sitting in the Addams family car as their... Butler? Driver? Drove them to the Addams estate.

She hadn't expected Wednesday to offer, and between her excitement and shock for having her cold roommate be so thoughtful and kind, Enid had immediately agreed. Meaning she hadn't stopped to ponder about what going home with Wednesday might be like.

When they stepped outside the school gates, the giant butler/driver Wednesday had called 'Lurch' picked both their suitcases with ease and stuffed them into the car's trunk. Enid was semi-aware Wednesday was well off, being an Addams, but she hadn't expected servants. Then, they had stepped into the car and Enid was surprised as both Wednesday's parents as well as her brother greeted them.

Enid couldn't remember the last time her parents cared enough to pick her up from the station, much less entertained the thought of picking her up at Nevermore.

Then again, lately they didn't even allow her to go home. Though if they knew she was sorta-friends with such a family they probably would have changed their minds.

"My little storm cloud!" Gomez Addams had said, pulling Wednesday into a bear hug.

Enid had met them briefly before, but hadn't really gotten a chance to interact with either older Addams, and she didn't even know there was a brother to meet. Her nervousness was the only reason she didn't immediately laugh at the nickname, though she would definitely remember to tease Wednesday about it some other time.

"And you are...?" Morticia Addams' eyes hadn't left Enid's since the young werewolf stepped in the car. Enid didn't know if it was the resemblance to Wednesday, but the way the older woman stared at her made her blood cold.

"Enid Sinclair, Mrs. Addams," The blonde cleared her throat, offering both her hand and the friendliest and brightest smile she could muster, "We met before, I'm Wednesday's roommate. Thank you for having me!"

"Ah, yes, Ms. Sinclair." The older woman half smiled, but did not show any intent to shake Enid's hand. Her gaze instead shifted to her daughter, "The werewolf."

"Just Enid is fine." Spoke, awkwardly lowering her hand. Did they dislike werewolves? Wednesday had never showed any particular dislike for her - aside from the normal dislike, at least.

"She had nowhere to go, I thought it could be fun to have a werewolf to cause havoc in our home and howl into the night." Wednesday shrugged.

Enid's eyes widened, she was about to tell them that it wasn't the case and that there was absolutely nothing to worry about when the boy in the front seat laughed, amused, "Cool! Can you turn now?"

"Now, now, Pugsley," Morticia shook her head, "There will be plenty of time for that later. We just replaced the car seats."

"The grounds on our manor are wonderful, miles and miles for you to run and destroy without worrying about running into another living soul," Gomez smiled, "Feel free to use it as you please."

"Thank you?" Enid blinked.

She should've expected not to be able to follow Wednesday's family's line of thought. Were werewolves howling and causing chaos something good or bad?

Discreetly, she stole a glance at her silent roommate. Wednesday knew Enid couldn't turn, that even if she wanted to be an annoyance to the family, she wouldn't be able to be.

Was the lie meant to slight her, help earn their acceptance, or make Morticia Addams stare even harder?

Enid didn't know about the first two, but the third had definitely been accomplished.

"How does it feel?" Gomez asked, an excited glint in his eyes. "The pull of the moon? Does it overwhelm your senses?" His attention turned to his wife, "Does it make your skin crawl? Your blood boil?"

The blonde flushed and looked away as the man began kissing his wife's arm repeatedly. Her eyes fell on her roommate, who had a disgusted look in her face.

"You see what I have to endure?" Wednesday scowled.

"I think it's kinda sweet, actually. " Enid smiled, earning a look of betrayal from the dark haired girl.

"Of course you do! Werewolves are creatures filled with passione, just like us!" Gomez spoke, before turning to his daughter. "I like her already, approved!"

Enid's smile widened.

Maybe spending her holidays with the Addams wouldn't be so bad.

--

The Addams manor was exactly what Enid would have expected from her roommate's home. They had followed a long barren road she was sure would lead into a cemetery all the way to a beautiful and run down old Victorian mansion. It looked like they had stepped into a horror black and white movie.

"Grandmama is preparing dinner, it should be ready any minute now," Morticia spoke once they all stepped inside the house. "Why don't you show Enid to the guest room?"

Enid barely registered the woman talking until she heard her name, too preoccupied with staring at everything. Between the mounted animals, set of armors, moving bear rug, it was hard to focus on one thing for long before finding something else equally eye catching.

"Won't it be better if she stays in Wednesday's room?" Gomez asked, a smile on his face.

Morticia turned to Wednesday, a smile on her lips. "Do you want for Enid to stay in your room, little rain cloud?"

Enid raised an eyebrow at the exchange. Despite it being a seemingly harmless question, it had an edge of something she couldn't quite tell. Wednesday on the other hand stiffened immediately, a scowl on her face.

"She stays in the guest room."

Feeling bold, Enid bumped their shoulders together, "Aw, tired of me already, little storm cloud?" Teased.

Wednesday's scowl grew and Enid could swear Morticia's smile did the same. "Call me that again and you'll wake up in the bottomless pit."

"Wednesday, is that the best way to threaten your girlfriend?" Morticia asked. "Be more creative."

Enid turned bright red, eyes wide as she turned from Morticia to Wednesday. Girlfriend? Why would they- Then she thought about it, the way Morticia had studied her, the way Gomez had "approved" of her... Offering Wednesday's room.

"You're dating a werewolf? Nice!" Pugsley grinned.

While the blonde fumbled, Wednesday didn't even bat an eye or manifest herself, seemingly unwilling to correct her mother and brother. Flustered, Enid loudly let out a "Όχι!" That made all the Addams' raise their eyebrows in surprise.

The outburst in Greek only made her feel even more embarrassed.

"No, I'm not Willa's- Wednesday's girlfriend!" She shook her head quickly.

Maybe too quickly. The last thing she wanted was for Wednesday or her family to think she despised the idea, especially when she felt the contrary.

"Not that I wouldn't want to be! I mean, who wouldn't? Θα ήθελα πολύ, εισαι υπέροχη!" Enid laughed awkwardly as she trailed off, turning to Wednesday, "N- Not that I secretly like you or anything! Well, maybe a little, cause you're... I-It's not a secret that I think you're-"

Her blush worsened the longer she stared at her roommate, so she turned her attention once again to the Addams matriarch. It wasn't much better, with the way Morticia kept her amused grin in place.

"Γαμώτο! What I mean is that she's really- I just... I'm just not... I don't think I am-"

Enid felt like she had been talking for hours. The more she spoke, the more she felt like digging her own grave.

"... Her type?" The young werewolf finally squeaked out.

Θεέ μου, she had just word vomited her sort-of-feelings for Wednesday in front of Wednesday and her family.

How she wished the bear rug would just eat her already.

Wednesday finally seemed to take pity on Enid, turning to her mother. "Mother, torturing Enid is my job. I'm taking her to the guest room."

Motioning for the blonde to follow, Wednesday began climbing the giant staircase. Enid hurried after her, wishing nothing more than to get away from everyone before she embarrassed herself any further.

"Passione." She heard Gomez repeat, and then, "They make a great couple."

The Addams would definitely be the death of her.

Notes:

Some of you might recognize the flustered speech Enid gives from a comic I drew a few days ago... It was originally meant for this scene all along, haha.

I'll probably write a follow up chapter, but I'll leave this as completed in case I don't.

Greek translations that I totally did not forget to add:
Όχι! = No!
Θα ήθελα πολύ, εισαι υπέροχη! = I would love to, you're great!
Γαμώτο! = Fuck!
Θεέ μου = Oh God
