Work Text:

“Okay, okay, I actually bought a tourist guide this time.”

“Seok, I love you, I really do, but why did you buy a tourist guide when there’s this nifty thing called the internet?” Yoongi looks at his beautiful, perfect husband with his cheap little guidebook. Yoongi wonders where he even got it. They probably don’t sell tourist books in Korean at the Athens airport. Besides, all Hoseok bought at the Athens airport was a keychain shaped like a penis because he thought it was funny. Actually, most trinket shops in Athens have a lot of penis imagery which is odd until you get used to it. It sort of works for their relationship given that they both have one.

Yoongi takes the book from Hoseok’s hand to inspect it. He probably bought this thing online; he’s so goddamn cute. Yoongi can imagine his new husband just searching up Amazon for books about Greek historical sites. They didn’t do a whole lot of sight seeing the last time they were here. They stayed in a hotel room and annoyed their neighbors very much. Yoongi thinks it’s advisable that the cleaning staff burn the sheets their sheets because it was… a time. They were here only about a year ago, but it’s nice being back. Yoongi is going to take in the country this time.

Yoongi huddles up closer to Hoseok in their spot near the back of the bus. They considered taking a cab from the airport to their hotel, but it was like 100 euros, and despite not knowing the exchange rate, he knows that’s a lot of money. Sure, they’re rich, but it seems frivolous. Yoongi’s mind is still set up like a poor person’s, and it’s not a mindset he’ll be able to shake off easily. No one seems to recognize them here, which is nice. They get a few looks, but that might just be because they’re two wildly attractive men in a foreign country holding hands.

“I just thought it might be cool to have a pocket version,” Hoseok says. He opens up the book to a random page while Yoongi looks over his shoulder.

“Nafplio,” he tries to pronounce, but he knows he’s gotten every last letter wrong. An actual Greek person sitting near them gives him a look, but he shrugs. It’s not his fault everything is hard to pronounce. They should have named things easier. There’s no way she could say anything in Korean.

“I think that’s on our list,” Hoseok says. Instead of exclusively staying in Athens, they’re travelling the whole country, mainly because Hoseok saw a picture of Santorini and decided if he didn’t go there, he’d cry.

“I wonder if the sea is really this blue,” Yoongi says, pointing at the picture. Since landing, they haven’t seen the water yet, but Yoongi is excited. The Mediterranean. What an unknown world. Yoongi remembers ignoring all the books they were supposed to read about it in school. He never cared much for history or mythology, but Hoseok is oddly fascinated and Yoongi thinks it’s cute. He loves discovering little things that Hoseok is interested in, like how he loves to make bracelets and is a little bit addicted to collectibles.

“You know how much I’ve always wanted to take you to the beach,” Hoseok says and Yoongi smiles. He tucks himself into Hoseok’s shoulder, wrapped around one arm.

“I’m tired,” he says. It was a hell of a flight, with an added exchange in London. The goal for tonight is just to find a nice place to eat and then sleep. Maybe something between those two, but Yoongi hasn’t considered it that much. They booked the same hotel as last time but he’s a little worried that once they show up that the staff will recognize them and turn them away. They weren’t bad guests, like they tipped well and didn’t destroy anything, it’s just that they had a lot of sex.

“It’s probably another thirty minutes until we’re at the hotel, if you need to take a nap, that’s okay. My shoulder is bony, but you are invited to use it.”

“Mhm,” Yoongi nods and rests his eyes. “M’ cold.”

“You’re always cold,” Hoseok says, but he knows that means that Yoongi just needs both arms around him. Hoseok would offer him his coat, but Yoongi is clearly not going to let go anytime soon.

“I might nap too once we get to the hotel,” Hoseok says. They were in the fancy seats— otherwise known as not coach—on the airplane, the ones that have footrests and space between passengers. In some ways it was worse, because Hoseok doesn’t sleep very well without Yoongi filling up the space next to him, so to be stranded several feet from him was difficult and he can’t say it was a restful sleep.

“Do you think we’ll get the same room as last time?” Yoongi says. They specifically found the same hotel they were in last year because of the memories, and because of how close it was to all the restaurants.

“God, I don’t know. They probably had to bleach that place.”

“Hey, we kept it all mostly on the bed. And shower.”

“It reeked of sex.”

Yoongi nods. “Yeah. But we tipped well, so what’s there to complain about?”

“You’re an actual menace to society,” Hoseok says when he lays his head on top of Yoongi’s. Yoongi has been his husband for exactly one week now and he feels so young and alive every time he remembers it. Yoongi. His one and only. There’s a black ring around his finger that Hoseok put there. Yoongi has a black ring and Hoseok has a matching silver one on his own finger. At some point, Yoongi must have overheard Hoseok say to Jimin that he thinks it’s sexy when men wear jewelry because nowadays, he usually wears two rings on each hand and puts all of his earrings in and the occasional necklace or two. Hoseok assures him constantly that he doesn’t need to put any effort into being sexy when he’s already overflowing with it. Yoongi always shrugs and smiles. It’s not much of an effort and he can tell that Hoseok likes it.

Hoseok would never ask Yoongi to do anything at all with his appearance, because whatever he does or doesn’t do Hoseok will love. Yoongi dyed his hair back to black a few months ago because he said he wanted to look more natural for their wedding. Hoseok thinks he looks as pretty with black hair as he did with white hair. Yoongi claims that he doesn’t care about his skin, but Hoseok knows he worries over little pimples and feels insecure in the mornings when his face is slightly swollen from sleep. Yoongi is also well aware that Hoseok’s favorite part of the day is when Yoongi wakes up and his face is squishy, and his eyes are puffy, and his hair is messy. That’s the purest and simplest Yoongi and Hoseok loves him.

There’s a younger guy, maybe around high school age who’s sitting near the front of the bus and he might recognize them. He’s just giving Hoseok that knowing look every few seconds which he’s starting to get used to. He’s a notable person now. He’s in headlines for dancing, or more commonly, for being in a relationship with Yoongi. Yoongi’s eyes are closed so he doesn’t notice the boy looking at them. Hoseok gives him something of a warning glare, hoping that will send the message. They’re not here to be bothered. They’re here to be together, so no photos, no signatures, no chatting.

“You smell like airplane food,” Yoongi mumbles.

“I can’t say why that might be.”

“Airplane food is bad,” Yoongi says. He always picks up on tiny things whenever he’s sleepy. A sleepy Yoongi has nothing philosophical to say. Sleepy Yoongi only has qualms about the consistencies of certain hand lotions and the rising prices of his favorite brand of rice crackers.

“I’m gonna buy you a mountain of that spinach thing you liked,” Hoseok says.

“Mm, yes. And chicken?”

“And chicken.”

“And that weird leaf thing?”

Hoseok thinks about that one, “I will get you the weird leaf thing if we can figure out what it was.”

“Doesn’t your guidebook tell you?” Yoongi asks with a laugh. He opens one eye to look at Hoseok, thinking that he won’t notice it, but he does of course.

“There isn’t a page for ‘weird leaf thing’ so you’re going to have to narrow down the search.”

Yoongi just shrugs and then wraps his arms around himself to keep warm. Hoseok frowns. He’s got two arms around him already, but Yoongi still isn’t warm enough. He really could find a way to be cold on the sun. Hoseok is going to buy him a cute little quilt from somewhere around here. Not a cheap touristy one, he wants Yoongi to have something handmade that will remind him of their trip here. Maybe without the penis on it like Hoseok’s keychain.

Hoseok cuddles himself against Yoongi’s soft hair. Still soft even after the however many hours flight. And he smells all Yoongi like too. Hoseok strokes his arm softly and he can sense that Yoongi is drifting off. Yoongi is usually pretty quick to sleep, which Hoseok admires. Until Yoongi he had a little bit more trouble, but after Yoongi it’s easier. He just sleeps better when someone cuddles him.

“Don’t you go falling asleep,” Yoongi yawns widely, and then gets even cozier in Hoseok’s neck. “We can’t miss our stop.”

“Okay, baby,” Hoseok smiles. “I’ll just keep you warm.”

“Mph,” Yoongi sighs. “Good.”

Hoseok holds Yoongi even closer to himself and kisses the top of his head. He’s overwhelmed with how much he loves him. It’s impossible that his man is all his. His husband. His Yoongi. But he really is. That makes Hoseok smile fondly as he looks out the windows of the bus as the city passes by around them.
