A sweet of my own

Summary:

Minho laughs, throwing his head back and then looking at Chan with a teasing smirk on his lips “You know, I find it very interesting that you come by almost every day even if you don’t come up to work on music. I find it really funny that you come by even though you obviously don’t drink coffee.”

Notes:

Work Text:

“Seriously hyung, you’re going to love the place. They have the best coffee and desserts in the entire area.” Jisung says, pulling Chan from his free arm, hurriedly as they walk towards the café he hasn’t shut up about ever since Chan moved in with him.

“You know I don’t like coffee.” He complains, doing his best to keep up with Jisung without tripping on his own feet. How can he walk so fast? “Maybe you should lower your consumption of it as well.”

“I’m sorry hyung but you don’t get to scold me about my health habits.” His friend scoffs, turning back to look at him with a teasing smirk before he stops dead in his tracks and lets go of Chan’s arm. “Ta-da! Pretty close to the apartment as well.”

Chan turns to the side, looking at the small establishment with a skeptical look on his face. The place doesn’t look too small or too big from the outside, the walls are painted off-white and the frames of the door and windows are made out of wood. There are two wood poles on each side of the entrance, both covered in the branches of a beautiful plant with white flowers, and a small folded plate roof.

When his eyes land on the crystal of the closed door, he notices that he’s frowning. He realizes what Jisung meant earlier when he had said that Chan needed to be dragged out of the apartment to do something nice on the weekend or he’d have an aneurysm due to all the built up stress from his shitty work.

Chan sighs, feeling displeased by his own reflection in the mirror. It’s always hard to look at himself when he’s feeling relentless or annoyed.

“You could’ve at least told me we were coming to a café before we left the apartment,” He groans, looking at his outfit in the reflection of the door.

He’s still wearing his pajamas, black sleeveless t-shirt, a pair of black shorts and sandals. God, he didn’t even bother doing his hair since Jisung had told him they were just  taking a walk at the park near their building.

“You look great! Plus, you’re new in the neighborhood, it’s not like we’ll run into someone you know.”

“Way to make a first impression.”

Jisung laughs next to him, nudging him with his elbow. “It’s still early so there might not be people inside. Hurry, I’m hungry.”

Chan sighs again, admitting defeat and taking a few steps to the entrance, holding the door open for Jisung to walk inside, and following him close behind.

The inside of the café is cozy. There are exactly six small tables scattered around the place but the rest of the space is occupied by plants and improvised bookshelves.

Just as Jisung had predicted, the place is empty, which Chan is grateful about. At least he won’t feel out of place by looking at other people dressed up for café dates or study sessions with friends.

“Seungmin-ah!” Jisung shouts as he walks up to the counter where a man taller than the both of them stands behind the cash register.

The man makes a face between annoyed and happy, if that is even possible. And then greets Jisung with half the enthusiasm of the latter.

Chan walks closer to them, standing behind Jisung and resting his chin on the younger’s shoulder, looking up at the menu hanging in front of them.

“I see you brought a date today.” Seungmin says, catching Chan’s attention.

He doesn’t miss the way the man looks at him with a frown on his face, as if Chan had done something to annoy him.

“Oh, he’s not,” Jisung begins, pointing at Chan and laughing mid sentence. “Did you think that we, that he and I,” Jisung is stuttering, letting out nervous giggles.

Chan catches on then, because he has known Jisung for his entire life and because flustered Jisung rarely makes an appearance, unless he’s got a little crush on someone. Now it makes sense that Jisung comes here every weekend at the same time religiously.

Oh Chan is going to tease him so much about it once they’re back home.

“None of my business. Have you decided on what to order?” Seungmin cuts Jisung off and shoots the question at Chan. He is trying to be polite and appear unbothered by Chan’s presence, but he doesn’t do much better than Jisung hiding his crush.

“I’ll have a vanilla milkshake, please.”

Seungmin nods, typing Chan’s order on the small screen next to the register. Then, he looks back at Jisung. “The usual?”

Jisung nods slowly, looking a little sad, just a little though. Chan presumes this is how their interactions go often, and so Jisung is used to it by now.

Chan is impressed though, that he hasn’t given up on Seungmin yet, as he is high maintenance when it comes to love. Not in a bad way or anything, it’s just that he is clingy and needs constant attention, which is fair. Considering how sweet and loyal he can be, Jisung doesn’t deserve any less than the best.

After that, Seungmin asks for payment, Jisung pays, telling Chan that he’ll have to buy next time as punishment for forgetting his wallet at home and making Jisung use his emergency credit card.

Then, Seungmin turns around and starts working on their orders, so Jisung pulls Chan to one of the tables away from the window where the sun is the brightest now.

“So, Seugmin-”

“Please don’t, you saw how that went.”

Chan smiles at him gently, tapping his fingers against Jisung’s forehead. “You could’ve just said that I’m your friend, dumbass.”

“I know! But it’s like my brain stops working when I talk to him. And it sounds so stupid, we’re not in high school anymore, we’re adults for fucks sake. I should be able to ask him out without stammering like an idiot.”

“First of all you’re not an idiot. I think it’s cute that you get all flustered in front of him. And you’re just twenty three, you’re a baby! Not a thirty year old man trying to start a family and share bank accounts.”

Jisung laughs at that. Chan is always happy that Jisung laughs at his terrible jokes, and glad that they are enough to take him out of his overthinking mind.

“Just, maybe practice how to ask him out a couple times? Just so you have a general idea of what you want to say and your mind doesn’t go blank.”

“I don’t know if that’s possible, he’s just so pretty. All that I can think about when I see him is how cute he looks and how much I want to make him smile.”

Chan coos at Jisung, patting his head and going on about how adorable he is and reminiscing of the days he used to be young and in love too, which of course makes Jisung cringe, and Chan laugh.

“Don’t worry, hyung will help you. I’ll teach you how to flirt properly and confidently.”

“Yeah right, you haven’t dated anyone ever since you started working at that company, which was like a year and a half ago.”

“Hey! That doesn’t mean I’ve lost my gam-”

“Han Jisung, can you tell me why Seungmin forced me to deliver your order to you instead of, oh.”

A sweet but loud voice coming from behind Chan interrupts their conversation and before he can turn around to see who it belongs to, he sees a man standing next to him, holding a tray with their drinks and some pastries.

The first thing Chan notices from his line of vision are the thick thighs of the man standing next to him, wrapped in a pair of black casual slacks. Then, he looks up at the man’s slim waist, toned chest and his veiny arms holding the tray.

But the man’s figure doesn’t make Chan’s brain shortcut the way his face does. Beautiful rosy lips, high cheekbones and nose, thin eyebrows and gorgeous cat-like eyes, all framed by his soft-looking, brown hair, parted in the middle.

“I see.”

“This is not what he thinks, he’s just Chan hyung, my friend. The one who recently moved in with me.”

The man takes a moment to look at Jisung and then back at Chan. Then, he smirks and leans down to place their food on the table as he speaks.

“You shouldn’t bring such hot friends with you if you don’t want Seungminie getting the wrong idea.” He teases, scoffing when Jisung complains, and winking at Chan as he stares at him blankly. “I’m Minho, by the way. Jisung has told me a lot about you.”

“Uh, oh, yeah. I, um, my name is Chris, I mean Chan. I mean, my name is Christopher but nobody here really calls me Chris, so, Chan. Yeah, I’m Chan.” Chan can feel his cheeks and ears burning up in embarrassment, he can’t even bring himself to look at Jisung who is surely holding back his laughter right now.

Minho laughs, scrunching up his nose cutely. He has such a unique laugh, and a beautiful smile. All Chan can do is stare at him in awe.

“Alright Christopher Chris Chan.” Minho says eventually, putting the tray under his arm. “I’m the owner of this place in case Jisung hasn’t mentioned it. And since you’re new in the neighborhood, you made me laugh and just because you’re handsome, I’ll make Seungmin bring you a piece of chocolate cake, on the house.”

“Oh, I, that’s really not necessary. We’ll pay for it.” Chan hurries out, a little nervously, trying not to dwell on the fact that Minho has complimented him on his looks twice by now. And his voice comes out a little more high pitched than he intended it to.

“We?” Jisung asks, looking at Chan with an eyebrow raised.

“It’s fine, it’s a new recipe I’m trying so you can pay me with your completely honest opinion.” Minho reassures, smiling at Chan before telling both Chan and Jisung to enjoy their drinks, and excusing himself.

After Minho has disappeared into the kitchen, Chan finally looks at Jisung again who is leaned back into his chair, with his arms crossed over his chest and a shit-eating grin on his face.

“So, you are going to teach me how to flirt with confidence, you said?”

“Shut up.” Chan hisses, rolling his eyes and trying not to smack Jisung as he teases him for the following five minutes, until Seungmin brings his slice of cake and a small cheesecake for Jisung, presumably as an apology for the earlier misunderstanding, which makes Jisung blush, and now they’re both even.

The cake is delicious. Unbelievably so.

Chan almost asks Seungmin for another slice to go, but he has a feeling that Minho wouldn’t let him, or rather Jisung, pay for it, so he decides against it.

Once they’re done eating, Seungmin comes to collect the empty dishes, and Minho stands next to the table with him. Now he’s wearing an apron and he is sweating slightly.

He must be baking more stuff, Chan thinks.

“How was it, Chan-ssi?” Minho questions him, smiling at Chan expectantly. Chan wants to tell him that he can speak comfortably and  just call him hyung, but he doesn’t know if that would be too much for the first time they’re meeting. “Please don’t sugar coat it, I need criticism in order to keep this café’s reputation,”

Chan smiles at him sincerely, finding Minho’s seriousness quite cute. “It was delightful. Seriously, the bread was soft and moist, the chocolate coat wasn’t too sweet and the cream inside was just the right amount of sour. What I found really interesting was that I could taste all the flavors, none overshadowed the other.”

Minho blinks at him once, twice, three times without saying anything and Chan is scared that his description was too detailed and now Minho thinks he is lying. But before he has any time to panic, Minho starts laughing, loud and sincerely, throwing his head back slightly.

“You are really interesting Chan-ssi. Come by again soon, I might make you my official dessert tester or perhaps the model for my advertisements, more people might come if they see a handsome man hanging around.”

Chan has to literally fist his hands in order to hold himself from squirming at Minho’s flattering words and the way he smirks at him, playfully.

Without thinking about it twice, Chan promises him that he will be back sometime during next week.

The next time Chan visits Minho’s café is on Friday. One of the meetings at the office gets canceled so everyone is sent home earlier than usual.

Chan, tired and jaded after an entire day of running around, archiving and going through messy paperwork, finds himself craving something sweet and warm. Like Minho, or one of his delicious desserts, or both.

He doesn’t even bother going home and changing his clothes, only taking off his tie and undoing the first two buttons of his white shirt in an attempt to breathe better and not look so up tight.

Once he makes it to the café, Chan decides to take off his blazer too and leave it inside his car. Last time he was here Minho had seen him in his lazy Sunday clothes, and although he had called him handsome, Chan needed to make a point that he didn’t usually look so careless and tousled.

Chan knows he looks good when he enters the café. This time his black curly hair is pushed up, leaving his forehead exposed. His formal attire makes him look somehow mysterious and way more mature than his pajamas, and the white shirt he is wearing is tight enough to show his toned muscles in a modest way.

There are more people at the café at this hour, young men and women mostly. As soon as he walks in, a couple of girls turn their heads to look at him, whispering about how hot he is.

It makes Chan feel shy, mainly because he never knows how to react to people complimenting him, especially strangers. But he tells himself to ignore it and go straight to the counter where there is a new barista, Seungmin nowhere in sight.

“Hi, I’m Felix. What can I get for you?” The barista says smiling brightly at Chan. He is around Chan’s height but he’s thinner, with blonde hair and freckles sparkled all over his face.

He starts, looking up at the menu once again, finding just a couple things that aren’t coffee. “Oh, um. A cup of hot chocolate please.”

“Anything else?”

“Yeah, I-I was wondering if Minho was here?”

Felix looks up from the screen and at Chan with a confused look. Fair enough, Chan and him haven’t met before and he’s probably wondering why this random dude is asking about his boss.

“What’s your name?”

“Chan, I’m friends with Jisung.”

Felix seems to recognize Jisung’s name, thankfully. He nods and looks behind Chan, there are two other people waiting in line.

“I’ll start with your chocolate, take their order and then tell Minho hyung you’re here. Are you okay with waiting for a bit?” He asks with a kind smile.

“Yeah, no problem. Thank you. I’ll pay with cash.”

“Perfect!”

Chan chooses the table in the back, furthest from the other people in the café where it seems that he won’t get as much attention in case it gets more crowded.

Felix brings his chocolate fairly quickly and lets him know that he’ll go talk to Minho now.

Chan feels nervous all of a sudden, now that he realizes he came by without a plan, like he had told Jisung he should’ve had.

The only reason he came to the café was because he wanted something sweet and he kind of wanted to see Minho again, but he didn’t really think about what he would say once he was with Minho.

Chan doesn’t even know why he asked Felix about Minho in the first place, it was kind of an impulse. Now, when Minho comes out of the kitchen looking for Chan he will probably ask why Chan came looking for him, and Chan won’t have an answer and-

“Hi again, Chan-ssi.” Minho’s voice reaches him and when Chan lifts his gaze from his cup of hot chocolate, Minho is already sitting on the empty chair across from him. “I was starting to think that you wouldn’t come again and that all that talk about the cake being good was just out of kindness.”

“No, no. I swear it was delicious, I would never lie to you about that.” Chan fusses, scratching the back of his head awkwardly right after as Minho looks at him, slightly taken aback.

“I was just joking, don’t worry. I could tell you were sincere.” He says, sounding more serious now. Chan hopes he hasn’t made things awkward.

“Oh, right. Sorry.” Why is he apologizing?

Minho scoffs. “How is the chocolate? You had a milkshake last time, right?”

“Oh, yeah. I kind of have a sweet tooth. And it’s really nice, just what I was craving.”

“Really? I’m glad then.” Minho taps his fingers against the table gently, looking at Chan, scanning him discreetly as possible with Chan being in front of him. “Did you come straight from work?”

“Is it obvious?”

“I imagined, on the day we met, that those weren’t your usual clothes. But I don’t think these are either.” Minho says, leaning in to straighten the slightly crooked neck of Chan’s white shirt. “Which kind of work requires you to look this hot in a suit?”

Chan can feel his face and the tip of his ears getting hot. He wonders if Minho is usually like this or he's being flirty because he's actually interested in him, and takes a mental note to ask Jisung. “I-um,” He stammers, clearing his throat before speaking again. “Nothing fancy really, I'm a company worker. A CEO's secretary.”

Minho hums and nods. “Is that what you always wanted to do?”

“Not at all.” Chan answers with a scoff, painfully quickly. “But it's a really good paying job, and it's stable.”

“What is your dream then? The risky, crazy and honest one.”

“Making music, I guess.” He replies shyly. Chan isn't one to talk about his music with strangers, hell, he even doesn't talk about it to the majority of his friends. But there's something about Minho that makes Chan feel like he can trust him.

Minho's eyes seem to light up at that and he smiles. “That's a great dream!” He's about to say something else when Felix shoots his name from the kitchen. “Sounds like an emergency. Come back soon Chan-ssi. And bring your music with you.”

Then, Minho gets up and speed walks into the kitchen. He looks cute, and Chan can't help but giggle to himself.

Once Minho's out of sight, the conversation they just had sinks in. Chan told Minho about wanting to make music, and Minho had told him to bring one of his tracks, Minho wants to hear Chan's songs, Minho wants to-

Oh shit.

“Relax, alright? It's going to be fine! Hyung might look intimidating but he's too kind to ever say something actually mean to someone. Especially about something they love.” Jisung says next to him as they approach the Café's door. “Plus, I've told you a thousand times that your tracks are fucking awesome, why don't you believe me? Maybe Minho hyung will actually convince you.”

Chan groans, hiding his face in his hands. He mutters something that gets muffled enough to be incomprehensible for Jisung.

“I understood literally none of what you just said. Stop being a baby, he'll like them, he already likes you.”

That makes Chan's head snap back up to look at his friend. “You said he was-”

“Chronically flirty, yes. But also, have you seen how he looks at you? He obviously thinks you're hot hyung.”

“I-”

“Hi Seungie, hi Chan-ssi! Would you mind getting the door for me?” Minho's voice reaches them from behind. When they turn around, there he is, standing with two big bags of groceries in his hands.

Chan instinctively reaches for one of the bags, taking it from Minho's small hands and receiving a 'thank you' in return.

Jisung takes a step forward and opens the door, letting Minho and Chan come in first.

The café is rather empty today. Maybe it's because it's Sunday and a lot of people prefer to stay home, lazing around.

Chan says hi to Seungmin behind the counter, who greets him rather cheerfully this time and rolls his eyes at Jisung yet again.

He walks side by side with Minho until they reach the kitchen and he leaves the bags on top of a long metallic table.

“Thank you for helping me Chan-ssi.”

“It's nothing, good thing we were outside. This one was quite heavy.” Chan says, pointing at the bag he had previously been carrying.

Minho giggles. “You're right. My hands were starting to cramp. C'mon, let's go outside.” He says, wrapping his fingers around Chan's wrist and pulling him out of the kitchen.

“Seungmin-ah, I'll be on the roof, if you need me just text.”  Minho calls Seungmin as he keeps pulling Chan by his wrist. The latter doesn't miss the way Seungmin stares at their hands and smirks. “And you, keep him company. But try not to break him, he still needs to work and you're just as chronically flirty as me.”

Chan's heart stops in his chest, if Minho heard that it means that he also heard-

“I do think you're hot, by the way.” He turns around to tell Chan with a wink.

Chan blushes all the way from his chest to his cheeks and tries to come up with something to reply with. But before he can get his brain to function again, they reach a small door at the very back of the café and stop abruptly.

“No customers are allowed back here, but if you get a pass because I’m really curious about your music.”

Chan smiles, his heart flutters in his chest and all he can think about is how nice Minho is.

The younger opens the door then and they step out into a small backyard. On the right side of the door, there is a wooden staircase with a white railing.

They go up the stairs and are greeted by a small terrace covered in pots and plants. There is also a spot on one of the extremes, covered by a wooden roof and curtains. There is a large couch under the cool shadow the roof provides, a coffee table and a couple chairs.

“Welcome to my oasis! This is where I come when things get hectic and I need a breather.” Minho explains, smiling at Chan as he prompts him to take a seat on the couch and start taking out his stuff from his backpack.

Chan obliges, placing his laptop on the table and taking two pairs of headphones and an adapter so that they can listen to it at the same time.

The track Chan decides to show Minho is a ballad, which is risky, considering he doesn’t know if Minho is even into ballads. He probably should’ve asked beforehand, just to be sure and choose something that suited Minho’s preferences. But he didn’t, so here he is now, about to play a song which is perhaps way too personal and deep to show someone who you barely even know.

“You’re an overthinker, aren’t you Chan-ssi?” Minho asks next to him, moving his hand to rest on Chan’s knee. “I’m sure whatever you’re going to show me is good. So don’t worry too much, hm?”

“What if it’s awful?”

“It won’t.”

“How do you know though?”

Minho rolls his eyes playfully. “I don’t think that anything you put your heart into can be awful. And you seem like the type of guy that puts his heart into everything he does.”

“That’s kind of cheesy.” Chan says, crooking an eyebrow at Minho and laughing when the younger hits his arm, looking a little embarrassed. “Thank you.”

“Hm, no more talking. Play it now.” Minho says, wearing his set of headphones and waiting patiently for Chan to press play. Once the song starts, Minho closes his eyes and leans back into the couch.

Chan looks at him, looking for any reaction, a hum, a smile, a word, but nothing comes until the song ends. Then, Minho opens his eyes and stares at Chan blankly, which makes him feel slightly nervous.

“What do you think?”

“I think that you’re crazy.”

“Huh?”

“I think that you’re crazy for working at a stupid company when you can compose, write and sing like this .” Minho elaborates, sounding kind of exasperated and sad.

“Uh, thanks?” Chan really doesn’t know how to reply. He doesn’t know if he’s being complimented or scolded, but then Minho laughs, and it’s kind of nice.

“That song is beautiful, I’m serious. Do you have any other songs I can listen to?”

Warmth spreads inside Chan’s chest. Minho sounds so genuinely interested and amazed that Chan can’t help but feel proud and happy. “How much time do you have?”

After that day Minho tells Chan that he can come by to the café and work on his songs on the rooftop as long as he shows Minho what he’s created, which Chan does.

Hours turn into days and days into weeks, and things change drastically during that time. He learns that Minho has three cats and that he loves them more than anything in the world. He also learns that Minho didn’t go to college because he simply never felt that school was for him and decided to open a café instead. Minho tells Chan that his grandma was the one that taught him to bake, during the summers he spent with her in his childhood.

In return, Chan talks to Minho about his family back in Australia and his early years living there. He rants to Minho about music, getting too caught up sometimes and only realizing that Minho doesn’t really know anything about producing when the younger asks what a word or term means. He still listens attentively though, which makes Chan feel mushy inside.

They exchange phone numbers and text regularly. Chan sends Minho cat memes or videos and Minho recipes with pictures of Soonie, Doongie and Dori. And other times, Minho will just ask about Chan’s day, then talk about his own.

Ever since the first time he showed Minho his songs, Chan hasn’t stopped thinking about what the younger had said about his job. It’s not that now someone has so bluntly pointed it out, Chan has changed his vision on it. He has hated his job since the first day he got it, but spending more time with Minho, at the café, actively making music, has made Chan realize that he is the happiest in those times. Which is why he has been considering quitting and finding another job for some days now.

Today, he is seeing Minho and telling him about it, asking for advice, in a way.

He parks outside the café and checks the time on his phone. It won’t be long until they have to close and so the place should be empty.

Chan steps out of his car and walks towards the entrance of the café. Once he walks inside his suspicions are confirmed, the place is completely empty except for Felix who stands behind the counter at his usual spot.

“Oh, Minho hyung said you’d come. He’s waiting for you on the roof.”

“Thank you.” Chan replies, politely bowing as he makes his way to the back of the café.

He walks the now familiar path and goes up the stairs that he seems to have memorized by now, there are sixteen of them. Once he reaches the terrace, he notices Minho lying on the large couch with his eyes closed. Chan approaches him and kneels down, he seems to be asleep.

As he debates on whether or not he should wake Minho up, he takes a moment to appreciate Minho’s sharp and elegant facial features. His high nose and cheekbones, his beautiful lips and cute eyelashes. And the small mole on his nose.

“Are you going to kiss me or not?” Minho mutters with his eyes still closed.

Chan gasps in surprise and falls into the ground, losing his balance. “You scared me!”

“Bohoo, I thought you were going to finally do it.” Minho complains, opening his eyes and shifting his position so he is now sitting up. “I’m getting impatient Chan-ssi.”

Chan gets up as well, dusting off his pants and taking a seat next to Minho on the couch. “You say that every time we’re together but why don’t you kiss me?” He questions, leaning in, closer to Minho.

Over the past few weeks Chan has noticed that Minho gets easily flustered if Chan reciprocates his flirting, which is absolutely adorable. So he plays into Minho’s teasing every now and then, just to see him blush.

“B-because, I have already admitted that I think you’re attractive. But you, you haven’t admitted that you like me too.” Minho says, regaining his composure fairly quickly after the first stutter. “And don’t even try to deny it, because I know you do like me.”

“Oh, really? How?”

Minho laughs, throwing his head back and then looking at Chan with a teasing smirk on his lips. “You know, I find it very interesting that you come by almost every day even if you don’t come up to work on music. I find it really funny that you come by even though you obviously don’t drink coffee.”

“I-”

“Aha! So, you don’t come here for the coffee or because the rooftop is the best place to produce music. It’s because you enjoy my company, because you like me.” Minho announces proudly as he tugs Chan’s tie and pulls him closer. “Check mate.”

Chan can feel Minho’s breath against his lips, his heart is beating fast and loud against his ribcage and he’s frozen. Teasing Minho seems to have backfired because now he’s sure that he’s blushing furiously and looking like a complete fool.

Then, Minho’s eyes land on Chan’s lips and he starts leaning in slowly.

Okay, so this is happening, Minho is going to kiss Chan, they’re actually going to kiss.

Chan instinctively closes his eyes and waits for Minho to connect their lips, but it doesn’t happen. Instead, he feels Minho huff and push him away gently.

“See? I can’t always be the one making the first move. You haven’t even asked me to call you Chan or hyung, I mean, we’ve been seeing each other almost every day for a couple of weeks now and you still call me Minho-ssi.” Minho rants, pouting and crossing his arms over his chest. Although he is supposed to look offended, Chan just finds him cute.

“What should I call you then?” Chan takes the opportunity to get back at Minho, wrapping his arm around the younger’s waist and pulling him closer again. “Mino-yah? Or perhaps, mine?”

Minho rolls his eyes then and pushes away again. “Forget it, you ruined the moment.”

Chan laughs lightheartedly, messing Minho’s hair up with his hand. “Great! Now we can concentrate on what’s important.”

“More important than us kissing? I highly doubt it.”

“I finished a song recently and I think I want to publish it on soundcloud, y’know, just to see how it does.” Chan says nervously as he scratches the back of his head.

“Really?” Minho beams at him, clapping his hands excitedly.

“Really, and I came here because I wanted you to do the honors.” Chan explains as he pulls his laptop from his backpack, sets everything up and places it on Minho’s legs. “One you press enter my music will be in the internet forever and how people react to it could determ-”

“Done!” Minho shouts, smiling widely at Chan as he shows him the screen.

Chan has a mini heart attack because it is real now, one of his songs is public and free for people to listen to. People will be listening to it and giving him feedback, judging his work, loving it or hating it.

“I assure you that people are going to love it.”

Chan lets out a nervous laugh. “I hope at least someone does.”

“Someone already does, dummy.”

“Thank you.” Chan replies sincerely, feeling his heart melt at Minho’s sweet words. He kind of really likes him. “You can call me hyung, by the way.”

Minho smiles at him kindly and reaches for his hand, intertwining their fingers. “Now we wait, Channie hyung.”

Chan goes into full shut down mode after posting his song on soundcloud. He turns off the notifications for both his e-mail and soundcloud app. He asks Jisung to lock his laptop away from him so he isn’t tempted to check how the song is doing.

Instead of worrying about the song flopping, he concentrates fully in his work, he even stops visiting Minho’s café for the whole week, not wanting to be tempted to check soundcloud by Minho.

It isn’t easy, of course it isn’t. Chan constantly thinks about the song, plays it in his brain over and over again, wondering if he could’ve made it better, if there’s anything he could’ve changed, but he tries, really hard, to stop those thoughts as soon as they surface in his mind.

Finally, the weekend comes and Chan drives straight home from work. He takes an express shower, changes into comfortable clothes -a sleeveless black shirt and black shorts-, asks Jisung for his laptop and rushes to Minho’s café.

Once he gets there, he repeats the same routine from the past weeks. He greets Felix and heads to the rooftop where Minho is already waiting for him, scrolling through twitter on his phone.

“Hey you.”

“Hyung, what took you so long?” Minho whines, making room for Chan to sit next to him but scooting closer to him as soon as Chan has made himself comfortable.

“I had to go home first, Jisung had my laptop locked up in his room.”

Minho scoffs and then waits patiently for Chan to open the soundcloud site. All the while, he’s holding Chan’s hand in support, drawing circles on the back of his hand softly.

Minho’s body is warm against Chan’s own, which is nice considering that the night is getting chilly and he didn’t bring a hoodie with himself.

“Alright, ready?”

“Are you ready?”

Chan shakes his head no and frowns. Minho is quick to move his free hand to caress Chan’s cheek.

“It will be great, I’m sure.”

“And if isn’t?”

“Then you try again.” Minho answers simply, honestly. “You can always start a new song, there’s plenty of inspiration right here.” He says, pointing at his own face and smiling when Chan laughs at his antics.

Chan nods then, feeling a little less nervous. Minho is right, even if this song is not a success, he can always make another, and a song about Minho doesn’t sound half bad. He can already think of a couple things he could write about.

With his free hand, Chan clicks on his notifications and the number is overwhelming. There are hundreds of likes, new followers and many comments of people ranting about how great the song is and asking when Chan will upload new music.

It takes Chan about a few moments to take it all in, the fact that his first published song is such a success. And when he finally snaps out of it, he turns to look at Minho who is already looking back at him, big beautiful smile on his lips, pride and adoration in his eyes.

“I told you that it’d be fine! You really should start list-”

Chan interrupts Minho’s words by finally kissing him. Minho makes a surprised little noise but is quick to melt into Chan’s arms and kiss back.

Chan can feel Minho’s arms wrapped around his neck now, and he gently pushes him down so he’s laying on the couch with Chan on top of him.

They kiss for as long as they can go without breathing properly, Chan’s hands start roaming Minho’s body as the kiss gets more heated up and Minho slides his hands under Chan’s shirt, until Minho pulls away, although reluctantly, gasping for air.

“So you do like me!” He grins.

“I do. I really, really like you.” Chan admits, finally. Blushing slightly as he looks at Minho.

“We just made out and you’ve got me caged against the couch, with your knee literally centimeters away from my crotch, but saying that you like me has you blushing?” Minho teases. “You’re weird hyung.”

“Shut up, it’s because you’re looking at me while I say it.” Chan mutters, still blushing. He begins to pull away when Minho wraps his arms around Chan’s neck again.

“No! Don’t move, kiss me again.” Chan looks to the side, eyeing his laptop. “We can read those later, let’s celebrate our first kiss and day of dating.”

“When did we-”

“So we’re not?” Minho pouts and then starts kissing Chan’s jaw and neck. “Too bad, hot friends don’t get to see me naked and fuck me under the moonlight to celebrate but boyfriends do.”

“I’m so happy to be your boyfriend.” Chan says, leaning in to mouth at Minho’s neck as the younger giggles.

“Mhm, you're very lucky, Chan-ssi.” Minho smirks, holding Chan's face in his hands and pulling him up to kiss him again.
