Work Text:
Her breath caught in her lungs. Her palms were sweating, skin prickling in alarm. Every hair along her body seemed to stand on end, goosebumps crawling up her arms.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
They weren’t even supposed to be here.
Rey glanced over her shoulder, and her mouth pursed when she saw the smug smile curl his lips. Ben let out a gruff chuckle.
“Scared little sis? I thought you were ‘mature’ now. All grown up and off to college.”
“Shut up Ben,” she hissed. Asshole. But her voice quavered slightly and she hated herself for it. She couldn’t bear to look back at him again. Did he have to be so fucking self-satisfied about it all?
“Who suggested this anyway?” Finn asked from just up ahead. “It’s fucking creepy in here.”
“That’s the whole point, my love,” Poe crowed, of course from the front of the queue. “‘Tis the season of thrills and chills!”
Rose brushed a cobweb aside, looking around at the group with thinly concealed excitement lighting up her face. “The legend around this place is so interesting. Macabre and mysterious. Did you know the director used to lock patients in their rooms during psychotic breaks? One girl actually clawed the door for hours. When they finally opened her room, they found her curled in the corner, every finger bleeding. Her nails were broken and cracked to the nub from clawing at the door.” Rose shivered. “But I still think the rumors around the haunting are bullshit.”
They turned a corner, trekking up another floor along a rickety staircase that had seen better days. Rey eyed the creaking floorboards with distrust. The building had been abandoned for forty years. Who was to say it was structurally stable?
The group continued their ascent. Poe in the front, followed by Rose and Hux. Finn was right in front of her. And of course, her asshole step-brother brought up the rear. Ben knew she hated this shit. Ghost stories and haunted houses. It all seemed so far-fetched and foolish.
And yet. A cold prickling chill shuttered down her spine. She couldn’t quite shake that stubborn fear from gripping her heart. Making her breath stick in her lungs, coming out in desperate puffed pants.
“Could we not have gone to a traditional haunted house? Wasn’t Sigma Pi putting one on?” Hux grumbled.
“We did that last year, Hux. Come on. Where’s your spirit of adventure?”
Ben. Fucking Ben Solo. Pretentious, elitist asshole, determined to shit on everything, and unfortunately, her step-brother as of two years ago. It was very new and very unwelcome.
“This is way better. Something real. Something with history and actual slasher film vibes,” Ben continued. His voice was a low growl and a rosy flush crept up her neck when she realized just how close he was. Breath tickling the hairs at the nape of her neck. “Isn’t that right, Rey?”
She turned and glared, and he—he was so fucking big and imposing. It made her shrink. But fuck it all, she didn’t have it in her to back down from a direct challenge.
“It’s definitely real alright.”
Ben grinned.
One of the stairs groaned loudly under her weight and it echoed throughout the large space. The whole group seemed to collectively flinch at the sound, but they made it to the top which divided into three corridors.
“Rumor has it this asylum is built over a hellmouth.” Poe’s voice broke the tense, fearful silence, and Rose gave him a dubious side-eye.
“What—like Buffy?”
“Precisely. It’s one of the frat’s urban legends that there’s a candle hidden somewhere in the building and whoever lights it will have the power to open the portal.” Poe wiggled his eyebrows. “First team to find the candle gets their bar tab paid by the rest of us for a month!”
Without waiting for any form of response from the others Poe tugged Finn’s hand, pulling him along one of the corridors and out of sight.
“Poe!” Rey yelled after him, but it was no use. Hux and Rose had already continued on down another hall leaving—
“Looks like it’s just me and you, shrimp.”
Rey closed her eyes, sucking in a deep breath as she prayed to whatever deity may be listening to give her strength.
“Just try to keep up and be useful for once in your life,” Ben called over his shoulder, walking away with those long, lengthy strides. Rey glared, hastening to catch up and falling into step beside him.
“Who said you were in charge?” God, even to herself she sounded whiney. He was just such an asshole it’s hard to let anything with him slide.
He just smirked again and Rey’s blood boiled as he continued, “Mom and Lor always leave me in charge.”
“Only when we first moved in with you guys when I was 16!”
Ben’s brows rose. “Sure, shrimp. Whatever you say.”
Rey clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, but she didn’t argue further. What was the point when he was such a smart-ass, self-important, egotistical—
A loud creak echoed from further down the corridor. The hairs along her arms stood on end. She froze, turning to Ben with wide eyes. In the grips of fear.
But he wasn’t even looking at her. Rather, he was looking past her, to the dark hall before them. The warm weight of his hand encircled her wrist, giving her the smallest of tugs to bring her back toward him.
Even though he was an indisputable ass, she couldn’t help but feel safe in the shelter of his firm hold. Cared for. Protected.
That’s when she saw a large shadow shift in that dark, looming hall before them and Rey screamed. Thunder rumbled just outside and the crack of lightning followed. A streak of light illuminated the now vacant hall before them.
Rey clutched her chest, sucking in deep lungfuls of air. She was shaking. Trembling like a leaf. The precursory winds of a storm rattling the windows as a draft hissed along the hall.
Something pressed into her back. Solid. Sure. Comforting.
“It’s ok. Just the light playing tricks in the storm.”
Rey gulped and nodded, but her heart fluttered when his hand moved to the small of her back, guiding her forward again. Her breath caught. The warmth of that hand seemed to radiate over her. Hot and flushed and… worked up. Maybe it was the fact that it was Halloween. Or because they were on the dumbest mission to investigate a haunted insane asylum.
But there was something about Ben’s hand, resting on her lower back. Something that made her ache. Made her want. She flushed again before pulling sharply out of his grasp.
“Get off me!” She stomped further up the hall and she could practically feel the smugness of his grin.
“Whatever you say, sweetheart.”
Rey slowed, the crushing darkness of the corridor filling her with dread. She pulled out her phone but the thin, blue light couldn’t offer much illumination. At the end of the hall she could barely make out the outline of a door, just slightly ajar.
She wanted to turn. Wanted to run. The thought of an open door at the end of a dark hall felt ominous. But she couldn’t take that smug self-righteous expression on Ben’s arrogant face. It was too much.
Instead, she straightened her spine, clenched her fists and kept moving. Step, step—
Creakkkk.
The door swung open and Rey yelped, turning and flying into Ben. Clutching and clawing at him.
“Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!”
He held her fiercely, crushing her to him. “You’re alright, shrimp. I’ve got you.”
She shuttered in his arms, sucking in shallow gasps of air. It was nothing. Just the fucking wind. God. Why did she have to be like this? React like this? Still acting like such a baby.
Suddenly, Ben’s hands tightened around her waist, fingers digging into the flesh there.
“Ow! Ben! Stop—“
But one of his hands clamped over her mouth. His eyes were wide and dark. He was looking beyond her and the hair stood up on the nape of her neck. The room went quiet and still. She couldn’t even hear the rattle of her own breath nor the thrum of Ben’s heart under her palm. All went still and silent as fear trickled sickly slow down her spine.
It was like missing a step and knowing you’re about to tumble down the stairs head first. Cold, dreadful knowing, made her turn her neck, eyes searching.
Rey caught the flicker of a large shadow. Monstrous. All angles and darkness and—was it breathing? That deep, grating rattle couldn’t be anything else but this creature slowing drawing breath.
Ben grasped her hand tightly, pulling her back down the hall. “Come on! We’ve got to get out of here.”
But her feet were lead. Frozen and rigid, she could not make herself move.
“But what about the others?” Her eyes flew about the space as he attempted to tug her further. “Finn? Rose?” She cried out. Her voice cracked with desperation, and Ben practically snarled as a lightning bolt split across the sky outside, illuminating the room for a brief moment.
She didn’t look back as Ben tugged her mercilessly back down the hall. That’s when she heard it.
Large, horrible steps that made the floorboards creak and groan. The air seemed thick and heavy with hunger.
Her brain did what it always did in these flight or fight moments. She tried to make sense of the madness with logic. All Rey could think was that the shadow creature had weight and mass. It was corporeal. Her physics professor would be proud.
“Rey! Snap out of it! We’ve got to go!” Ben didn’t wait further. He hoisted her up over his shoulder in an indelicate fireman’s carry.
“Poe? Hux?” Rey called as Ben jogged down the hall, down the steps, and out the door. “Rose!” She called again.
Droplets of rain seeped through her shirt. The cold night air hit her and before she could even respond, Ben was putting her down, grabbing her hand and forcefully pulling her away. It was rough and painful and she wanted to rip her hand out of his grip. She wanted to be coddled and soothed. She wanted her friends and the warmth of her own bed.
Instead, her asshole pseudo brother stood in front of her. His hair already wet, beads of water clinging to his lashes. He looked her over.
Those broad shoulders hunched as he bent to speak to her, eyes narrowed, voice deadly quiet, “The others are gone. There is something back there, Rey. I don’t know what it is, but you need to stop being a fucking child, pull your head out of your ass, and get a move on!”
Rey’s mouth was already twisting into an indignant sneer as she ripped free from his hold, but something dark and desperate coiled in the pit of her belly at those biting reproofs. Something she couldn’t let herself dwell on for any length of time.
“Jesus Ben! Why are you so awful?” But his words had given her a shock to her system. Now she felt the bitter cold of wind and rain. She jogged away, down the path back toward campus, Ben following closely behind.
They’d come on foot as the asylum lay just on the edge of campus. Really, it wasn’t too far from anything. But now the wind was picking up. The rain was beating down. A deluge with intermittent thunder and lightning that let out booming echoes and blinding flashes of light.
Her steps slapped along the wet pavement until her jog became a run. Rey was soaked through and shivering. And every time she closed her eyes to blink the rain away, she saw that monstrous shadow.
Rey stumbled.
“Shrimp! Over here!” It was Ben. Of course.
He was a little ways off the path in a clump of trees, pushing the door open on a little shack tucked just off the main road. She would have missed it entirely if Ben hadn't been with her.
It was small. A rundown ramshackle little building barely bigger than an ATM vestibule. Rey ran after him, up the steps, and he slammed the door shut behind her.
For a moment, it was only the ragged puffs of their breaths. Her eyes found his. Dark. Almost black. And so earnest. She had to look away. Look down. But that was a mistake.
His shirt clung to every muscle along his abdomen. Every ridge and valley that made up that sculpted chest. God he was fit.
She blushed and turned. But not before she caught a glimpse of that stupid smirk. The one she hates.
Rey cleared her throat, trying valiantly to center herself. Focus. Focus. “What the fuck was that? That thing?”
Her question was met with silence. But finally, Ben shifted, leaning against the wall, voice quiet, “No idea.” A beat. “But it doesn’t matter.”
Doesn’t. Matter?
Rey turned, taking all of one step to reach out and poke him in the chest. “What do you mean it doesn’t matter? There was a thing, Ben! An honest to god, ghost, shadow monster THING! It absolutely matters! Aren’t you even curious what the hell it is? Why it’s there? How it—“
“It doesn’t matter! So stop trying to—“
“You always do this! Shut down when you don’t know the answer. When you don’t know what to say or what to think. Well maybe you should just try living in discomfort sometimes Ben Solo. God. You’re so fucking privileged—“
In a moment he had pressed forward. Instead of casually leaning against the wall furthest from her, now he stood directly before her, bearing down. She backed up, until her back met something solid. She felt the scrape of rough wood through her soaked shirt as his hand came to rest by her head. He leaned further into her space.
“It drives you nuts doesn’t it? That mom married Lor and I joined the family.”
“I—that has nothing to do with—“
“Admit it, Rey.”
She could see the lines and ropes of muscle cording up his forearm that was level with her eye. Just to the left of her head.
She swallowed. “I don’t know what you’re—“
His hand went to her hip as he pressed closer. She shivered. From the cold. She was certain it was from her wet clothes and the cold air and—
“Is it because you want to fuck me?”
Ben’s fingers traced the edge of her sopping sweater, and the line of skin he traced just under the hem burned. Even freezing cold from the wind and rain, her chest burned. Her face burned. She pressed her legs together. Everything was on fire.
“Jesus Ben! You’re my brother! We’ve lived together! We—our parents—“
“That’s why it tears you up so much. Because it’s wrong.” His hand roamed further. Up, up, up her sweater until his thumb caressed the underside of her bralette. Thin and sheer.
She gasped. “Ben. Don’t.” But she felt her hammering heart in her ribs. The pumping of blood in her veins. The pulse thrumming in her clit.
And she knew he could see it too.
He pushed her bralette up and his thumb flicked across the bud of her nipple, already a hard, aching peak. She gasped, arching into his touch. She felt his smug smile as he dipped down, face hovering just over the pulse point at her neck.
“Say it, shrimp. Say you want to get fucked by your big brother. Right here. Right now.”
Her face pinched, desire and determination warring across her features. But while her thoughts churned, trying to figure out how to eviscerate him with a look or a word, his other hand slid between them, unbuttoning her jeans and pressing those obscenely large fingers into her pants. Crooking them just so to brush along her clit through the thin fabric of her thong. She keened and flushed, embarrassed by how quickly he worked her up.
Rey crossed her legs, pushing his hand away. “We can’t.” But she realized her mistake before he even pressed her back further into the wall.
“Can’t? Or won’t?”
Her eyes flickered to his before they dropped to his lips. Those plush, pink lips she can’t think about. This is madness. This is so depraved. This is—
“We shouldn’t.” The tremor of uncertainty undeniable in her tone. Ben didn’t hesitate.
He pushed her jeans and panties down her hips, cupping her cunt in one thick large hand. Mouth closing over the juncture where her shoulder and neck met.
“Fuck,” he hissed.
Her hands threaded through his long waves of ebony and she couldn't resist. Her nails dug into his scalp and in that moment the fight in her died. Rey tugged that infuriating face up to hers, crushing her lips to his. Devouring. Engulfing. Relishing the taste of him on her tongue. The bitter hops of the IPA he’d had earlier with the faintest hint of peppermint.
They were messy with tongue and teeth. Rey pushed his shirt up over his stomach, pulling back to growl, “Take it off.”
The smugness of his expression resulted in Rey biting into his collarbone perhaps a bit harder than necessary and Ben cried out, hands roughly ripping her sweater over her head and shoving her bralette down. Her tits popped free of the scrap of fabric and Ben knelt to take one in his mouth, sucking and laving at the tender pink bud. His thumb still circled her clit before pressing two fingers into her tight heat.
“Fuck, Rey, you’re so tight. And so wet. Oh fuck, are you a virgin?”
Thinking was difficult, especially with each thrusting pump of his hand. She rolled her hips into his waiting palm without thought. It just felt so good. But finally the words he spoke caught up to her lust addled brain.
“What? No!” It was true. She wasn’t a virgin. Although…
“Oh god. Was it Snap?”
Rey’s cheeks flamed. “It doesn’t matter who it was. Just shut up and fuck me!”
A smile curved his lips. His hand paused, sliding free of her. Rey let out a shameless whine, only to find him sinking to his knees before her.
Oh.
Oh.
One hand held her open, the other stroking while he pillaged her with his tongue and those perfect pouty lips. He suckled her clit, he lapped at her like she was the most sumptuous dessert until she was a panting, writhing mess.
“You like to be a little slut don’t you? Begging to be fucked.”
She bristled but something in her couldn’t help but perk up and preen. “You’re the one, kneeling before me.”
His eyes went wide. And then, he clamped his lips around her clit and sucked. Ruthless and demanding. Tongue flicking that swollen bud again and again until Rey’s knees start to shake.
“Oh my—Ben!”
She tried not to buck her hips into his face. Tried to be still but her whole body was winding tighter and tighter with each flick of his tongue or press of his fingers. He pushed her back against a shelf, ass perched precariously on the edge as he pushed her knees wider. Opening her further as he tore her jeans and panties free from her ankles.
“You like this, shrimp? Getting finger fucked in a shed? Desperate for it?”
She shook, nodding, delirious with want and desire. God why did she like it when he decimated her? When he was mean?
“God you’re such an insufferable—“
“Careful there, shrimp. Only good girls get to come.”
And that asshole took his hands away. Carefully tracing the lips of her pussy. Too soft. Too gentle. He pressed a kiss to her inner thigh but he wouldn’t move his mouth back to her center and she sobbed. She was so close.
“Ben!”
“You know what I wanna hear, sweetheart.”
Shaking, she tried to form thoughts but the words tumbled from her lips, ill-formed and from a dormant place of lust and desire and need.
“Please Ben. I want you. Fuck me with your hands. With your mouth. With your cock. I want to come. Please let me come.”
His eyes had gone so dark. Almost swallowed by black. He bit his lip and his hands slid up her thighs again until he came to the apex, brushing the little hood of her clit. But she couldn’t help herself. Her hand reached out to cradle his cheek.
“Show me. Show me how to take it, big brother.”
He hissed, not even pausing before his fingers pushed into her, tongue lapping at her, relentless. His tongue flicked over the bud, once, twice, three times before he latched his lips over her and sucked. He curled his fingers deep within her, into that spot she could never quite reach on her own.
And just like that she fell over the edge, a broken cry tumbling from her lips as she canted her hips into his face.
Her legs trembled as he stood, cunt still fluttering and pulsing. But he didn’t give her a second to recover. His mouth covered hers swallowing her groans and cries as her legs wrap around his waist, pulling him close. She felt the hot hard length of him through his jeans pressed to her bare core. She growled, frustrated.
Rey’s hands scrambled between them. “Why are these still on?”
Nimble fingers worked hastily to unbuckle his belt, but she fumbled with the fastening and snarled. Finally, working the button and zipper properly she yanked his pants down, using her feet to push them the rest of the way.
His hand reached up, a gentle hand cupping her throat, pulling her close, so he could growl in her ear, “Slow down, little sis. Such a thirsty little whore. Can’t wait to be fucked by me, can you.” His hand tightened around her wrist, stilling her movements. “You ever hear that patience is a virtue?”
Ben took his cock in hand and Rey let out a strangled whimper. It was the first time she’d seen him on full display. She may have caught a peak a year ago when she walked in on him changing when he was home for holiday break, but… Oh dear lord. That was supposed to fit inside her?
He traced the rim of her pussy’s lips with the flared head of his cock. She let out a hiss, eyes rolling back in her head as he barely nudged into her entrance. God he was thick and he pressed in just so, stretching her out, and—
He stopped. Stopped moving entirely. He wasn’t even all the way in! She shimmied her hips and his hands clamped down.
“Patience, sweetheart. We need to stretch you out.”
A strangled little whine caught in the back of her throat.
“Whine again and I’ll pull out.”
She fell silent, glaring at him fiercely, thighs trembling with the effort of not rolling her hips into his.
“Good girl. Now tell me, have you ever masterbated thinking of me?”
Rey wanted to strangle him. Her nails dug into the rounds of his shoulders as she inhaled through her nose. Patience.
“Yes,” she ground out. He tipped his pelvis and slid in another inch. She sucked in a breath. So that’s how it’s going to be?
“More than once?” He inquired with all the laissez faire ambivalence of someone asking about the fucking weather. It. Was. I n f u r i a t i n g.
Rey rolled her eyes but a bead of sweat rolled down her cheek from the effort of not fucking herself along his length. “Yes.”
Another inch. She wanted to sob in relief.
“When did you know?”
Her brow scrunched. She was trying to hold still and think, and thinking was so hard right now. “Know what?” She managed to gasp.
Those dark eyes met hers again. Deep. Dark. Burning. “When did you know you wanted me?”
His hands slid down the curves of her body, tracing the curve of her hip, the slope of her sternum. Lazy, caressing touches that undid her.
“I—well—“ she couldn’t do this. Couldn’t think. Couldn’t allow this to happen. Couldn’t walk away from it. It was all too much.
“Spit it out, shrimp.”
“Prom night. My prom night. Last year.”
His brow quirked up and he sank in another inch. She pressed her heels into his back, willing him to go deeper, but he didn’t budge. Instead, a thumb came up to trace her lower lip, pulling it down to part her lips. Gentle and lascivious all at once.
“I know it was you,” she breathed as one of his large hands closed over her breast. Soft, lingering touches. Gentle squeezes. Not nearly enough. “I came home. Crying to mom about Cal. How he left with some other girl. How he said those horrible things.” Rey doesn’t even know what she’s saying anymore. Fully babbling while he explores every line of her body. “I didn’t even know you were home until the door slammed shut. And I didn’t realize you’d heard me until the next day. I ran into Cal at the shake place. He had a black eye and a bruised jaw.”
“He was a dipshit who didn’t deserve you.”
“Why’d you do it Ben? Why?” The question had been eating away at her since she realized what must have happened a year ago. She knew big brothers were sometimes protective. But they weren’t even blood related. He seemed annoyed with her all the time. It made no sense why he would resort to such drastic means to stand up for her.
Both hands came back down to settle at her waist, pulling her forward until his breath mingled with her own. Until he thrust himself to the hilt within her. Until he pressed his forehead to hers as she gasped, shifting to accommodate this new earth-shattering stretch.
“Because I’ve wanted you since you called me a selfish prick the first night you moved in. I wanted you then. I want you now. And I’m going to make the fucking most of it. Even if it’s just for tonight.”
Ben dug his hands into the globes of her ass until he was shifting her to the very edge of the shelf, pushing into her on hard, deep thrusts. Every ridge of muscle stood out in stark contrast, the shadows sharpening each angle and line of his body.
Rey’s arms looped around his neck, holding him tight, pressing his head into the hollow of her throat as he pistoned into her, fucking her so hard the shelf rattled and her toes curled.
He was so deep within her, the drag of his cock along her inner walls had her bearing down. Clenching him. Wringing him dry as he grunted into her neck.
He fucked like an animal, rutting into her with passionate reckless abandon. All pretense and self-restraint gone. His biceps flexed as he held her up and bore down, thumb moving to her clit again.
“Come on then, sweetheart. Come for me.”
“I—fuck—oh my god! Ben!”
Her orgasm crashed over her as he pressed the little bud at the apex of her thighs again and again. She was a writhing, quivering mess. Her pussy fluttered around him, sucking him in even deeper.
Ben lost all semblance of control. Fucking hard and fast. She was limp and loose in his arms now. Boneless and satiated. But she couldn’t help rocking her hips into his. Matching his pace and fervor. Crying out again as Ben bellowed, firmly gripping the base of his shaft and pulling out just as he came, painting her tits and stomach in sticky ropes of white.
Their frenzied breaths broke the silence in the shack. Rey’s heartbeat thundered in her ears. Ben stared at her, mouth slightly open as his eyes raked down her body. He reached out a hand to smear a pearlescent line of cum as he licked his lips.
“Come on,” Rey said, hopping down from the shelf and scooping up their clothes. “We need to go track down the others.”
They dressed in silence.
Ben pulled his shirt over his head, still damp from their run through the rain. He leaned in the doorway, watching her dress before he held out his hand. Tentative. Uncertain.
“Ready?”
He suddenly looked very much like the eighteen year old boy she met when their families joined. All bravado and gravitas shed as he stared at her with those soulful eyes. It broke something in her. That look.
Rey stepped up to him, taking his hand and pulling him into her, greedy and rough. Chasing his mouth with her lips, teeth, and tongue. God, would she ever get enough of him? His fingers dug into the small of her back, crushing her to him. Warm and solid. For perhaps the first time in her life, she felt like she belonged.
She pulled away, pushing the door open, before threading her fingers through his.
Demons and devils be damned.
“Let’s go.”
