The Vampire Dilemma

Summary:

Asking your boyfriend if they would still love you if you were a worm is basic. Boring, predictable.

Asking them if they would still love you if you were a vampire is fresh. Unexpected.

Sexy or terrifying.

Depending on who said boyfriend is.

(Guess which category Sunwoo falls into.)

Work Text:

There’s nothing Sunwoo loves more than a lazy, chill evening spent with his boyfriend. Especially if the said boyfriend agrees to make them hot choco. It’s perfect, it’s peaceful.

There’s nothing Changmin loves more than disturbing peaceful moments.

Oh, and horror.

“Would you still love me if I was a vampire?”

“Um,” Sunwoo throws Changmin a look over the brim of his cup of hot chocolate. “Don't people usually ask this about being a worm?”

Changmin rolls his eyes and waves his hand dismissively.

I wouldn't love you if I was a worm. And besides, I’d only live for like, a day,” Changmin puts his chocolate down and leans into Sunwoo's personal space. “A vampire on the other hand…”

Sunwoo feels a shiver run down his spine and it has nothing to do with the cold air nor with the way he can feel Changmin's breath against his cheek.

No, it probably has more to do with the fact that his imagination is currently conjuring images of his boyfriend with sharp fangs. And bloodthirst.

“If you were a vampire you’d probably love the taste of my blood more than my personality.”

Changmin raises his eyebrows but doesn't argue.

The question is so absurd that Sunwoo can’t take it seriously. He watches his boyfriend’s expression as he wonders where did it even come from.

“Did you rewatch 'Interview with the Vampire’ hyung?” the two of them were supposed to spend Halloween evening cuddled up watching the movie for the nth time before Chanhee and Jaehyun came and ruined their plans. Well, to be fair, Sunwoo still isn't sure if they ruined the day or made it better just yet. He’ll have to judge after the party.

Either way, maybe Changmin felt sad about missing out on some good old-quality gay vampire drama and decided to rewatch the movie by himself?

That certainly would answer where he got the idea from.

“Without you, sunflower? Wouldn't dream of it.”

Changmin sounds sincere. Sunwoo can usually tell when the older one is lying.

Well then, this makes this whole thing weirder.

Sunwoo has to applaud Changmin for possessing the skill to make anyone feel like they’re in a horror movie and using it awfully often this particular October.

And it’s not just Sunwoo, Chanhee has noticed it too.

“Would you bite me hyung?” Sunwoo asks, again earning him an eyebrow rise and a snort.

“Depends,” Changmin answers, clearly amused.

“Depends on what?”

“Would you want me to bite you?”

Sunwoo ponders on it. He knows it likely isn't that deep of a question, just something Changmin asked for the fun of observing the horror anti Sunwoo say yes because, of course, he will say it eventually and they both know it. Still, he likes those out-of-the-blue conversations with his boyfriend and so he tries to drag it out for as long as he can.

“I wouldn't mind becoming a vampire too, especially if it meant I could spend an eternity with you hyung.”

At that Changmin's gaze softens and he leans impossibly close, his breath ghosting over Sunwoo's cheek.

“That doesn't sound half bad,” he admits. “So you would love me if I was a vampire?” It still sounds like a question even though Sunwoo has made it crystal clear time and time again that he would love Changmin even if the older has somehow magically turned into that toothbrush he’s going as for Halloween.

“Of course. With your bloodsucking and all,” he runs his fingers down Changmin's throat to where the movies usually show the vampires biting humans. Changmin swallows, hard. “Would you love me if I was a vampire?”

Changmin has the audacity to pretend to think the question over before deciding his answer. He even fake hesitates for a moment before Sunwoo slaps him on the shoulder lightly.

“Hyung…”

Changmin ignores him.

“Of course, I would,” the older says, voice soft but steady. “I would love you if you were a vampire. A worm too. I would still love you if one day you turned into a were-raccoon for no reason.”

Oh God why did Sunwoo even ask.

“You’re so red Sunflower.”

This time it's not only Sunwoo's neck that burns, it’s his whole face. Hell, it’s probably his whole body but he doesn't dare to check.

“Hyung… shut up,” he mumbles, face hidden in the crook of Changmin's neck. He can feel the older laughing under him.

“You asked.”

Sunwoo groans. He did ask, didn't he?

And Changmin always knows what to say to make him incredibly flustered.

“…Shut up.”

Changmin murmurs his agreement and then sighs in disappointment.

“I should have recorded this,” his fingers draw slow circles on Sunwoo's back. “It would have been a perfect little video.”

Sunwoo huffs. It’s not that he disagrees or minds other people seeing him stumble over his words because of his boyfriend, no that happens all the time.

It's just that he likes to have those little moments just for the two of them. No cameras, no friends around.

Well, apart from Chucky, of course, who is currently sitting on the table, looking at them as always.

“…On second thought, I think I prefer to have you like this all to myself,” Changmin’s whisper tickles Sunwoo's ear and a shiver runs down his spine.

He nods weakly.

Honestly, Sunwoo couldn't agree more.
