Work Header

Don't ignore me.

Summary:

I had an idea for weeks that wouldn't leave me alone even if I try and push it away. What if an agent that has ADHD and issues with emotions has a crush on someone and how she deals with it? And I didn't want to play the person how I have in the past dealt with my emotions as her disorder and issues with emotions are what I have in real life so I threw that in here as well too.

Work Text:

A woman sat alone at the far end of all the agents that are labeled among some as the A team. She briefly looked up as she heard the elevator open as the other agents started to walk in. ‘Guess Tim is running late.’ She caught the eye of Jessica Knight and she briefly smiled at her. She saw Nick Torres turn and look at her as she quickly looked away from him and went back to her work typing away on her computer screen.

Nick saw the new agent with the strawberry blonde hair look a little like deer in the headlight look before she always looked away from him. He walked up to her desk and looked right at her. “Are you going to speak to me today Agent?”

The woman didn’t look up at him before she spoke. “Doctor Palmer left that rose on your desk, Agent Knight.”

Jessica blinked watching the whole scene in front of her. “Thanks.” She smiled softly at it before she picked it up and sniffed it and smiled softly. “Did he say anything else?”

The woman looked up finally and quickly towards her. “Yes, he will be in court for most of the day so if there is a body he has a medical examiner on stand-by for us to use.”

Jessica nodded her head. “How is it being back in the office again?”

The woman smiled at her. “It's lovely and since everything with my grandmother is fully settled it's nice to get back to business.”

Jessica nodded her head as she looked at an annoyed face of Torres. “Agent Frost here was to be with my team but when her grandmother had to go to the hospital she went and joined her.”

Agent Frost smiled softly. “I heard about the team I’m sorry about them.”

Jessica nodded her head. “I know you used to lay it in deep verbally with a couple of the agents.”

Agent Frost laughed softly. “Yes well, I have my reasons I did what I did back then. But that all doesn’t matter anymore.”

“Frost, Torres, and Knight to MTAC now,” Vance said looking down at the three. He glanced behind them. “McGee you as well too.”

Parker walked up behind Vance and was stoned face. “Let's go.”

Torres sighed softly. “And I was going to go on a date tonight.” He said walking towards the stairs.

Knight sighed softly. “This could be quick anyway.”
Frost stood up and followed behind them not saying anything else as she followed them inside.

Vance turned the screen on just as Agent Tennant came on the screen. “Go a head agent.”

Jane nodded her head. “Three days ago a body washed up on the shores with a tattoo on their back reading Monster of Hawaii come home.” She said simply. “And from what we have learned this Monster of Hawaii as they were called was a fighter.”

Torres laughed at the name. “Who would call themselves that?”

“Sounds like a title others gave them I take it?” Parker said simply.

Jane nodded her head. “Seems Kai used to hear about this person’s fights all the time. Said there was a rumor why this monster left was because of a deal of some kind no one is clear on what it was.”

“The next fight would be a fight to the death if they ever stepped foot back on Hawaii and into the ring as the monster or whatever name they are using now,” Frost said clearly shaken over the whole thing.

Torres watched her. “You know those supposed, monster of Hawaii?”

Vance watched as Frost never said a word even if Torres was looking at her or a word was needed. He also saw the look of anger on Torres’s face the longer she ignored him. “Brook?”

Brook blinked a couple of times before she looked at Director Vance. “Yes?”

Vance sighed softly. “Do you know this Monster?”

Brook sadly nodded her head. “Yes. I know the person really well.”

Torres spoke up. “I will go to Hawaii and pretend to be this monster and catch the killer or killers.”

Vance looked at Brook. “What gender is this monster?”

Brook looked at him. “Clearly female.”

Vance nodded his head. “Torres, Knight, and Frost you three will go to Hawaii after getting the Monster of Hawaii onto a flight to help Tennant with this case.”

Torres nodded his head. “Sure boss.” He happened to look over at Agent Frost then. “Um, why is Frost almost the color of her last name.”

Everyone turned and saw how pale Agent Frost looked. “Agent Frost?”

Parker shook her slightly. “Hey?”

Knight waved a hand in front of her face. “Brook?”

Brook blinked a couple of times. “This isn’t going to end well.” She grumbled.

Vance looked at her. “Frost my office you as well Agent Torres and Agent Knight.” He turned and walked out of the room.

Brook mentally groaned. “Great.” She muttered again before she followed him out.

Everyone turned and looked at each other before they left as well too.

Vance didn’t speak until everyone was in his office as he looked right at Agent Frost. “What was that back there?”

Torres chuckled softly. “Clearly nerves she can stay here while we collect this monster.”

Knight and Vance saw the side-eye glare that Agent Frost gave Torres.

Vance sighed softly. “Brook?”

Brook sighed softly. “You don’t have to go far to find her.”

Torres looked at her. “Why is she dead or a ghost?”

Vance glared at Torres this time. “Let her speak Torres or you can walk to Hawaii.”

Brook snickered softly at that before she looked at Vance. “Because I am the Monster or well I was sir. I left that title and life behind with the help of my grandmother.”

Vance nodded his head. “I read your file. Do what you can to not kill anyone or be killed or your grandmother will never let the government hear the end of it.”

Brook laughed softly while Knight and Torres stood confused. “I will do my best sir.” She waved her hand slightly before she turned and smiled brightly.

Vance waved Brook out of his office before he turned and looked at Knight and Torres. “She needs to come back still alive in this whole matter.”

Jessica Knight looked at her. “I guess her grandmother is high-powered?”

Vance nodded his head. “More like her whole family is. There is more to this and it isn’t my place to speak about it either.”

Knight nodded her head. “Understood.”

Torres looked lost in thought. “I just want to know why I get ignored when I speak to her.”

Vance smirked softly as if he knew the answer already to that. “Guess you will have to figure that one out.”

Torres looked annoyed. “Seems you and Parker both know and I don’t.”

Knight looked at Vance. “I’m guessing when she was pulled into your office last week with Parker she told you both?”

Vance nodded his head. “Yes but as we both told her she doesn’t have to really speak at him if she needs to a wall or something else out in the field works so no one gets shot.” He sat down in his chair. “You both can go now.”

Torres didn’t speak until he was outside the office. “Was he smirking about the whole thing?”

Knight nodded her head. “Yeah, I say so. You better go cancel that hot date then.” She walked away.

Torres sighed and headed to his desk and checked his phone. “Hmm?”

Brook was staring at her computer typing away and biting her lip as she worked.

Torres looked up when he heard something slam down on the desk.

Brook sat glaring at her computer screen as she rubbed her hands.

“What’s wrong?” Torres asked looking at her.

Brook still didn’t speak as she wrinkled her nose.

Tim stood up and shook his head at Torres. “Brook?”

Brook blinked a couple of times before she looked up and over at him. “Sorry I asked my grandmother to bring something to the NCIS over in Hawaii for me and she agreed but filled me in on some personal matters.”

Tim nodded his head. “Ex?”

Brook wrinkled her nose. “No far from it.” She shook her head. “I rather not talk about him.” She shook her head again before she grabbed her phone and sent a text message. “Sad part is I was going to finally see a new therapist that the Director and Parker pointed me to.”

Parker looked over at her. “I didn’t know you finally booked it.”

Brook smiled softly. “Yes well, my family has issues as do I.” She stood as she grabbed her go bag. “But my problems are far better than my family’s.” She said walking to the elevator.

Knight didn’t speak until the elevator door closed as she looked at them. “Only family member I know she has her grandmother.”

Parker looked at Torres and Knight. “Sounds like she is walking into a powder keg you both should watch her back but give her some space on some of this.”

Torres grabbed his go bag as he muttered as he followed Knight. “I just like to know why she doesn’t speak to me.”

Hours later on a flight, everyone walked into the NCIS building in Hawaii.

Jane Tennant looked up as the three agents walked in. “Good to see you again Torres and Knight.” She knew what was going on and she mentally rolled her eyes when Parker filled her in on the fact Agent Frost ignores and doesn’t really speak to Torres. She held her hand out to Agent Frost. “Jane Tennant and you are?”

Brook took her hand. “Agent Brook Frost.”

Kai looked around behind the three. “So did you bring her? Sorry I have heard stories about this fighter.”

Knight looked at him. “Like what?”

Kai looked at her. “Oh that she took on multi-female fighters that the leader of the gym got angry at her and threatened her with this death match if she ever returned as it was her last fight here.”

Brook looked away. “Yes well if a prize fighter decides to run away from her family name would make a lot of people cranky I would guess.”

Torres looked at her strangely.

Jesse shrugged his shoulders. “She doesn’t sound all that scary of a fighter.”

Brook winked at Jessica before she held out her hand to Kai. “Other people used to call me the Monster of Hawaii.”

Kai’s eyes grew big.

Jesse backed up slightly. “Never mind I got kids.”

Brook laughed softly. “It's okay.”

Just then Whistler walked in. “That was a strange talk I had with an agent.”

Everyone looked at her.

Jane Tennant sighed. “What?”

Whistler looked at her. “Oh, one of the senior agents wanted me to tell someone named Becky to go back your not getting grandma’s money.”

Brook clenched her fist before she snorted. Tried to sound calm when she spoke. “Did he say anything else?”

Whistler looked at her. “Yeah said if you want your stuff you know the place and location.”

Tennant opened her mouth to speak.

“Seems I am going to have to go settle things with them before we handle this fight.” Brook went to walk away.

“I can’t let you go face them alone whatever this is.” Jane Tennant looking at her.

Brook turned and looked at her. “They are a lot of things but they will not kill me or hurt me or my grandmother will really put them out to drift.”

“I will go with her.” Torres. “She needs backup for whatever this is.”

Tennant nodded her head. “Go.” She didn’t speak again until they left the room. “Is Brook going to kill Torres or this agent?”

Knight smirked softly. “Who knows.”

In the car, Torres looked over at Brook. “Where too?”

Brook didn’t speak she just put the address in the Navi and sat back and looked out the window. “Grandmother should have let me kill him a long time ago.”

Torres looked at her funny and waited to see if she said anything else.

Sometimes later when the car stopped Brook reached over, Torres, and pressed the code in. “James let me in.”

“As you wish miss.” The gate opened shortly after.

Torres looked at her strangely as he drove up. “Around back?”

Brook gave him an evil look as she pointed to the front of the house.

“Okay then.” Torres parked out front of the house.

Brook got out of the car and headed towards the front door.

The door was thrown wide open as a tall man with the same color hair as Brook glared down at her. “Becky? Why are you back so soon?”

Torres was confused. ‘Who’s Becky?’

Brook walked right up to him. “Don’t start with me Noah and get out of my way.”

Noah shook his head. “Go back Becky we won’t let you take grandma’s money from us.”

Brook suddenly punched Noah in his throat as she looked down at him coldly. “Get out of my way Noah.”

Noah held his throat as he glared at her. “Never changed.” He croaked out.

Torres went and check on him. “You okay.” Just as Brook walked right into the house.

Noah nodded. “Seems Becky has never changed just got worse.”

“I thought her name was Brook?” Torres said helping him up off the ground.

Noah snorted. “Her legal name her birth name is Becky McGowan she’s my baby sister. She’s the reason our baby brother is dead.”

Torres walked Noah into the building and they found Brook in a shouting match with the two people on the stairs. “They are?”

Noah looked at him. “Our parents.”

“You bitch you come back here now that your grandmother is on her deathbed.”

“Get out of this house young lady.”

Torres moved to stand beside her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

Brook looked up and finally snapped at the people before her. “No you both get out of my way. Better yet you three can get out of the house unless grandmother wishes for you to be here. Besides Beth and Frank, it's both of your fault that my baby brother Lee is dead not mine. Since neither one of you would accept he was gay. As it's also your fault he took his own life after his first tour in the marines so don’t you dare keep saying it's my fault?”

Beth and Frank gapped at her. “How dare you talk to us like this young lady get out.”

Brook turned and looked at James. “Get these three pieces of trash out of my house and tell the lawyer they are cut off permanently.”

James nodded his head. “As you wish my lady.” He snapped his fingers as multi guards showed up and hauled her big brother and parents out of the house.

Brook felt tears fall down her face as she fell to the steps and buried her face into her hands.

Torres knelt down before her. “It's okay.” He pulled back when she started to hit herself in the head with her hands. “What the?”

James walked in with tissues and handed them to Torres. “The young miss suffers from ADHD as well as issues with her human emotions. I’m sure you can figure out how well her parents treated that.”

Torres sighed. “Better or worse than her baby brother?”

James shrugged as he walked away.

Torres knelt down beside Brook. “You should clean up.”

Brook looked up and took the tissues from him. She whipped her eyes and then blew her nose.

“So this whole house is yours?” Torres looked at her.

Brook nodded her head before she stood up and headed upstairs and put the tissues down and threw the dirty ones away. She walked to the one bedroom and quietly slipped in and headed to the closet before she came out and handed it to Torres before she headed further down the hall to a room with the lights on in the one.

Later that night Torres drove Brook back to the office.

Knight looked at them once they walked back in. “You two okay?”

Brook walked off muttering softly. “I’m fine.”

Torres filled her in on what happened at the house. “Seems she changed her name.”

Knight looked shocked. “And who knows what else dam.” She looked at Torres. “That could be why she is like she is towards you.”

“It's annoying that’s what it is,” Torres said simply.

Knight shook her head and walked over to Brook. “Torres filled me in on what happened at the house are you sure you are okay?”

Brook nodded her head. “Yeah. Some things just need someone else to talk it out with.”

Knight looked at her “Like besides all the problems you have with your mom, dad, and big brother. Why you are ignoring Torres so much?”

Torres had walked over and was listening in on the girls talking about him.

Brook nodded her head. “Yeah, my old therapist told me if you have a crush on someone to ignore it.”

Knight stared at her strangely. “It?”

Brook nodded her head. “Yes well after he said that he had to go to the hospital where he did die. So no one really knows what the heck he meant by that.”

Knight nodded her head. “I agree but what have Parker and Vance told you to do?”

Brook smiled softly. “To keep it up.” She pointed to a shoe sticking out. “Even hitting him with a stick hard.”

Knight looked at her strangely and saw what she was pointing out to her. “Yes well hitting him over his head multi times with a stick always works to or elsewhere.”

Brook laughed softly.

Torres poked his head out looking annoyed. “I’m not a running joke.”

Knight smiled. “Sounds like it.”
Brook walked over to her grab-and-go bag and pulled out a phone. “Hey, Janet wants to set up a death match for the Monster?” She mentally sighed softly. “Yeah, I get it, and yeah see you tomorrow night.” She put her phone away. “I set the death match up for tomorrow night.”

Knight looked at her. “What are the rules?”

Brook sighed. “I have to fight men and women their goal is to kill me but I don’t have to kill them I just have to get them out of the ring.”

“How is that fare?” Torres said looking at her.

Tennant looked at her. “Are they really going to try to kill you?”

Brook nodded her head. “Yes so yeah.” She took a chair and sat down. “Tomorrow night I die so yippie.”

Jesse looked at her. “I’m sure we can get a double so you don’t have to.”

Brook shook her head. “They will know sadly.” She said simply. “I will meet you all there tomorrow night.” She grabbed her bags and walked out.

Tennant looked worried. “She’s right we can’t do anything until tomorrow and needs a break from all of this to prep herself.”

The next morning Torres walked into the NCIS office and looked at Tennant. “Yes?”

“Jessica told me you overheard Brook talking about her crush?” Tennant.

Torres nodded his head. “Yeah what about it?”

“What are you going to do about it now you know?” Jane asked as she looked at him.

“Nothing right now I don’t know what I feel about it,” Torres said simply.

Suddenly Lucy ran into the room. “Jesse and Kai decided to help Brook out with her training and they are getting ready to fight her. And before you say anything Tennant I did try and get them to stop.”

Tennant groaned. “Come on.” She said running out of the office knowing at least Lucy would follow after her.

Torres blinked when they walked into the gym and they found Jesse and Kai on the ground with Brook standing over them. “Either she kicked your butts or you guys suck.”

Jesse groaned when he tried to move. “You fight her and see how long you last man.”

Kai sat up groaning. “Yeah.” Right before he fell backward.

Brook snickered softly. “Lucy?”

Lucy shook her head. “I will pass.”

Tennant shook her head. “I do agree the guys need more training but once you get back you should take on Torres. I’m sure your whole team would love to watch that.”

Brook laughed at the whole idea.

Torres glared.

Brook slipped out of the ring and walked up to her. “And that was without my mask on.” She said with a smile. “Besides Torres will not last as long as those two.” She glanced at the clock. “I better go get cleaned up and grab some lunch.” She slipped away.

Torres sighed before he went and tried to help Jesse and Kai out of the ring.

Later that night they met up outside the gym.

Tennant looked around. “Agent Frost?”

Knight looked around before she looked at her phone. “She says she is inside getting ready. Since they don’t know her face.”

Tennant nodded her head. “Okay fine. Watch your backs and more so hers.”

Everyone agreed though Jesse and Kai winced when they did.

People had gathered around the ring either to take part or to watch.

A guy stepped into the center of the ring. “Tonight only we have a death match. Everyone’s goal if you step into the ring is to kill your target she will not kill you though.” He looked around. “Who wants to see who your target is?”

Everyone roared.

The guy chuckled softly. “I bring you The Monster of Hawaii.”

Brook walked out wearing a monster mask that has fangs as she walked past them she could hear booing as she slipped onto the ring and removed her jacket and tossed it out of the ring knowing the tattoo on her upper back could be clearly seen. ‘Protector.’ She stood there as she growled at the guy speaking.

The guy chuckled softly. “This will be fun.” He muttered before he looked at everyone. “Line up and start the fight.”

One by one they stepped into the ring. And one by one Brook took them out one by one.

Torres watched her whittle them down. ‘Note to self never get into a fight with her.’

“This is the fight I have been waiting for.’ Came one of the last guys to fight her. He rears back and punches Brook in the face.

Brook gets sent flying backward and lands hard on her back. She rolled over and tried to catch her breath.

“Weak little girl shouldn’t be in a death match she should be on her back under a man.” The man sneered at her. “Too bad you are going to die now.”

Brook removed the mask as she got up and did a spinning roundhouse kick to the side of his head. She whipped the blood from her face as she glared at him. “Guess you're the bitch now.”

The guy growled as he got up and went to attack her.

Brook turned quickly and threw him out of the ring. “That’s where you belong.” She looked around. “Anyone else?”

Everyone else shook their heads backing away.

“Good answer now everyone here is going to answer one for me who killed this guy and placed this tattoo about the monster coming back?” Brook asked as she commanded the whole room.

The guy who was the last she fought spoke up. “He came into my tattoo shop after you left but I didn’t kill him I didn’t even know he was dead.”

Others spoke up talking about things being close to what she needed and were right.

Everyone cleared out of the area and headed back to the NCIS offices.

“Well, we cleared out that lead,” Tennant said simply.

Brook looked at her. “If I had to lead you to a new unsub I would check my big brother. He didn’t know I was the Monster but he could have figured it out over the years.”

Tennant nodded her head. “True. Do you want to stay and find out?”

Brook shook her head. “No, what he did or didn’t do was totally onto him anyway.”

Tennant nodded her head. “I get it. Well, good flight and safe travel.” She turned and got to work with her other agents.

Knight looked at her. “Ready?”

Brook nodded her head as she grabbed her bags and followed Knight out of the building.

Torres still didn’t know what to do but it's been a long time yet to decide something. He followed after the girls as well.

THE END!
