Work Text:
“Jason,” Tim said, lying on his back on the floor. “Jason please take you firey-ness too somewhere else.”
“I don’t see why you all have a problem,” Jason responded. “It’s not that hot.”
“Tell me that again after you go look in the freezer and see your daughter is fast asleep in there,” Dick told him, his voice was weary and he was also on the floor. He was face down and as he spoke he had lifted a hand, waving it weakly in the direction of the kitchen.
“Dani has an ice core she’s allowed to sleep in there,” was all Jason said, crossing his arms.
“Jaybird it is like 3000 degrees right now. The fact you aren’t melting is honestly terrifying.”
“Dick that is an exaggeration.”
“It is 100 degrees Jason,” Tim said, sitting up and staring his brother in the eyes. “It is so hot that Dani is in the freezer. And don’t say she’s allowed to be in there. She was actually melting before she went in there. You might want to think about why you are not feeling this.”
“Please leave,” Dick said. “I love you, Little Bird. But you are increasing the temperature in here and I am dying.”
“Fine,” Jason said, rolling his eyes as he left the room. He decided to go and check on Dani, who was apparently in the freezer. In the kitchen he found a pile of snow covering what used to be in the freezer, there was a small puddle collecting around it. When he cracked the freezer door open he heard a growl from inside.
“You best shut that door now before I freeze your-” Dani started. “Oh hi Jason,” She said, cutting herself off. “How’s the heat treating you?”
“It’s not bothering me,” Jason replied, stepping away from the freezer but making sure the door didn’t open any further.
“That’s good, can you please shut the door before I defrost,” She said, blowing cold air onto her hands. “Your fire core is making it way too warm in here.”
“I have a fire core?”
“Er, yeah, wasn’t that obvious from the fact you aren’t melting right now?” Dani leant out of the freezer and tapped his chest. “There’s a little ball of fire burning in there. Now please close the door and let me sleep.” Jason was too confused to really do anything but shut the door. There was a muffled “Thanks!” from inside the freezer.
“Does everyone else know?” he whispered to himself as he walked out of the kitchen.
