Day 6 - Dance

Ladies and Gentlemen, I did it. I wrote a happy fic for Miphlink week! I hope you enjoy :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Link and I stroll under the shining stars, illuminating our body with a pristine white light. It’s silent, apart from the soft wind in our ears and our footsteps crunching on the grass as we go up the steep hill.

A walk to just be the two of us, to forget the politics and troubles of life and be comforted by each others presence. It’s nice to take a break sometimes, with the one I love.

Reaching the top, we arrive at a small pond, surrounded by small hills on each side. It’s a secluded area to be alone with him, spend some time together before we need to head back to the real world.

“Come, lets sit by the water” I carefully say, breaking the silence. “It may be too cold for you to swim though.”

I can see him nod as he takes my hand and leads me to the pond. It is sort of shaped like a heart, built straight from nature. A place built for us, a sanctuary for love.

Sitting down, I rest my head on his shoulder, curling up the rest of my body to rest in his lap, with my feet submerged in the surprising warm water. Curled up in his body heat I slowly feel the icicles in my fingers recede, leaving a warm fuzziness in it’s place.

Link softly strokes my head tail “I love you” he whispers in my ear, sending a soft shiver down my spine.

I snuggle closer to him. “I love you too” I respond with my heart screaming with happiness, fulfilled with my life at this moment in time. This is the peak of living, to spend time with people you love, be so close and inseparable.

Turning my head upwards, I put my hands around his neck and push his lips to mine. Our kiss is soft, patient. We have all the time in the world, no rush to get anything done. Putting my left hand under his shirt, I pull him even closer, desire for him growing, wanting to be with him, wanting to never break apart.

Before we could go any further, he put a hand on my chest and pushed me away, stopping me. “I’ve been wanting to ask you Mipha” he murmured, “Do you know how to dance?”

Suprised at the suddenness of the question, I cock my head to the side. “Yes, I’ve taken some lessons with Muzu for court balls and such. Why do you ask?”

“Would you like to dance with me?” Standing up away from my grasp, me holds his hand out.

“We have no music” I say as I take his hands and pull myself to my feet, putting one arm around his waist and the other in his hand.

“I’ve… been practicing a song actually” he blushes as we start to move, back and forth beside the heart shaped pond. He sets the tempo and I follow his feet, moving together in the moonlight, buried in each other’s eyes.

Taking a deep breath, he begins to hum his melody. I immediately recognize it. It’s the beginning traditional Zora lullaby, sung to mothers to sooth their children to sleep.

Rest now, for the sun is gone

However, after the head of the song he changes the notes. I’ve never heard it before, yet I feel like I’ve grown up with it. It was a slower song then the original
lullaby, yet still had a similar style. After finishing humming the melody once, he began to sing.

Mipha, the kindhearted Zora princess
She has a heart of gold
A healer, who always loves all
More beautiful then ever told.

One day Zelda, came to call
To ask for aid, in the looming fight,
No hesitation, she said yes,
To protect the futures light.

‘Cause she is…

Mipha, the kindhearted Zora princess
She has a heart of gold
A healer, who always loves all
More beautiful then ever told.

Humming the melody once more, he finished by slowly growing quieter and quieter, until the final note faded into the silence of the night.

A single tear fell from my eye as I listened to him breathe after he was done, waiting for my reaction. “It’s… it’s beautiful Link. Thank you.”

Smiling, he murmured “I’m glad you liked it.” Pulling my left hand above my head, he slowly twirls me around, still keeping the rhythm of his song. Back and forth, keep on moving to the silent melody.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t prepare anything for you tonight.” I sigh, disappointed in myself. He does so much for me, yet I didn’t think about doing something for him. Although… I’m making his armor, but it’s not complete yet. Then I could finally pay him back for everything he’s given me. But for now… maybe I’ll have some fun with him.

“Don’t be sorry” he reassures me, “Just being here with me right now is a gift in itself.”

Hatching a plan, I pull closer to his face. “There’s other ways I could gift you right now.” I seductively whisper. I see his eyes darken as he realize what I’m implying. Although his grip on my hand tightens, he does not stop moving.

“Oh?” He questions as we keep on dancing around the pond.

I move my hand from around his waist to his front, resting it right below his navel, slowly inching in lower. He looks down and watches my hand with wide eyes, transfixed with my small red hand. Almost there…

“And how do you plan on doing that?” he growls, still distracted my hand.

“How about, getting a little… WET!” After waiting for his back to be facing pond, I quickly push him backwards, falling into the shallow water behind.

I giggle as I see him come up for air, gasping like a fish out of water. “Mipha!” he chides, wiping his eyes.

“I’m sorry, I saw the opportunity and I had to do it” I laugh, grinning as he rolled his eyes.

“Help me out of here, I’m all wet now”

Still giggling, I come to the waters edge and held out a hand. Firmly grasping it, Link grinned.

“I’ve heard Zoras like water too” he laughed as he pulled me in with him, falling into the surprising warm water beside him.

“Link!” I exclaim as I come up for air, “I was helping you!”

“And I was singing to you, so now we’re even.”

Sighing, I backed into one of the walls, resting my weary limbs. “The water feels nice anyway” I sigh. “Thank you for the song, and for coming with me tonight.”

Swimming to me, Link trapped me between his arms. “Anytime Mipha.
I will always cherish the time we spend together.”

I blush, pulling him closer to me, letting my hands drift around his body, feeling with warm skin beneath my fingertips, knowing he is mine. “I love you Link”.

“I love you too” he whispered as he claimed my mouth, leaning into my touch.

That night we made love under the stars, illuminating us in an unearthly light. A night where two merged into one, fused together by the love that hung thick in the chilly air.

That night, our two souls danced with each other, best parts of each merging into one to spawn a new dancer. A new being that could be taught how to dance in this world, how to flourish and become the best version of themselves.

A child.

Notes:

Thank you for reading!

I wasn’t originally planning on making Mipha pregnant at the end, but I decided that after all the sadness they finally need a happy ending together.
