Work Text:

It was a Thursday evening and you were sitting on the couch watching TV. Nothing like a good baking show to occupy your time. You heard a tap at your balcony door and instantly lit up. You get up and head to the door, ready to greet your visitor.

“Hey Keigo, how was-” your question was cut short by the feeling of your boyfriend slumping over on you. He lets out a sigh as he rests his head on your shoulder. You start to rub his back with slight concern on your face.

“Is everything alright Keigo?”

He nods his head against your shoulder and wraps his arms around you. You could tell something was off but didn’t want to pry unless he was willing to share. You knew just the thing to help. Grabbing his hand, you guide him over to the couch where you sit first and he lies down with his head on your lap. You run your fingers through his hair while you both silently watch TV. When the episode ends, you look down and notice Keigo fell asleep. You carefully get up to go grab him a blanket. Once you returned, you removed his goggles and slid his jacket off before placing the blanket over him and returning to your seat.

Keigo wakes up around two hours later to his head no longer in your lap. He hears noises coming from the kitchen and follows them to you. You’re preparing two bowls of Japanese Curry when you feel Keigo wrap his arms around you and kiss your cheek.

“Oh you’re awake,” you say, giving him a sweet smile. He returns you a softer one. “Yeah I’m awake.”

“Well you’re just in time for dinner,” you say while passing him a bowl. You grab your bowl and you both head back to the living room, sitting close to each other on the couch while you eat and continue the baking show. Keigo is the first one to break the silence.

“Thanks for the meal Y/N, and for earlier too,” Keigo says with a slight blush on his cheeks. “Of course! You looked like you could use some comfort. You wanna talk about what was bugging you?”

Keigo sighs and leans back into the couch. He ponders for a moment before starting. “Most days are the same for me: patrolling, checking in at the agency, training with Tokoyami, news interviews. And when each day is over, I go home, eat, sleep, and do it all again. But today was off. I woke up this morning from a dream about my childhood.” You look over at Keigo with a concerned expression. He had mentioned his childhood before but never gave too many details. You were aware of his rough upbringing before he was recruited by the Hero Public Safety Commission.

“I hadn’t really thought about my old life in a while but that dream really threw me off my game.” Keigo leans over and rests his head on your shoulder and you rest your head on top of his. “Y’know I don’t tell you too many details about my childhood and not because I don’t trust you, I just know you’ll be safer if you didn’t know too much.” You nod and grab his hand. “I just couldn’t think straight today and when I didn’t know what to do, my instincts told me to come here.”

You smiled at his words and turned to kiss him on the forehead. You loved that Keigo felt comfortable enough to be himself and pour out his troubles in front of you. “I’ll always be here for you whenever you need me,” you tell him. He grips your hand tighter after hearing that. “Thank you.”

Keigo turns towards you, caresses your cheek, and goes in for a kiss. The kiss was warm and full of his love and appreciation for you (it also kinda tasted like curry). When you pull apart and see his enamored expression, you couldn’t help but giggle. Keigo smirks and raises an eyebrow. “What, am I too much for you to handle,” he asks in a playful tone.

You scoff and playfully push him away. “Yeah right, I’d never be so easily flustered,” you say, matching his playful energy. “Oh really now,” Keigo says as he leans in closer. “Not even if I did something like this!” Keigo pins you to the couch and starts tickling you.

You’ve been thrown into an uncontrollable fit of screams and laughter. “Keigo! Please, I can’t - AH, I can’t take it!” Keigo laughs at you while he watches your face turn red. Once he figures you had enough, he eases up to let you breathe. You’re out of breath as you look up at him. “I hate you sometimes.”

“Aww, no you don’t,” he says as he helps you sit up and you slide into his lap. You get comfortable and snuggle into his hold. “I’m gonna get you back for that.”

Keigo kisses your forehead. “I know you will.”

After your shenanigans cool down, you two spend the rest of the night wrapped in each other’s arms, watching more baking shows, and loving every second of each other’s company. You were the one to fall asleep this time. Keigo looked down at you, completely in love with how peaceful you looked. He was ready to join you in sleep but his phone rang.

“Hawks, important message for you regarding the mission. We need you at Headquarters in 20 minutes.”

Keigo sighs knowing his peaceful moment with you was being cut short. “Duty calls Y/N,” he whispers as he carefully gets up without disturbing you. He grabs the blanket you gave him earlier and tucks you in before placing one more kiss on your forehead. Keigo puts on his goggles and jacket while heading to the balcony door. He turns to you one last time. “Good night my love, and thank you again.” He smiles softly and exits your apartment.
