Donghyuck planted a bright, pink kiss mark on the note he had written, sparkling eyes staring down at his masterpiece. Perfect! This should be good enough for him, right?
As he heard a knock, he put away the heart-shaped sandwich cutters and swiftly made his way to the door.
“Renjunnie!”
If Donghyuck was the sun in all its blazing glory, Renjun was a bright, twinkling star in the night sky. Both similar yet different. Renjun wasn’t just a guy; he was everything made from Donghyuck’s most fantastical dreams.
Renjun, who knew Donghyuck’s place like the back of his hand, made himself comfortable in the living room. Donghyuck gave Renjun a firm kiss on the cheek as a welcome. Renjun cupped the other boy’s face and took the initiative to kiss him on the lips instead.
They had kissed before, sure. But all those other instances were little, fleeting things. Like a kiss on each other’s fingertips in the winter cold or an indirect kiss whenever they went out for shakes and shared a straw. Nothing too forward as they had only been going out for a few weeks now.
“Oh! That’s new!” Donghyuck’s sweet giggling morphed a smile onto Renjun. “I see you enjoyed it, though,” he quipped.
Donghyuck interlocked fingers with his boyfriend. He felt just so giddy saying that word. “Of course, silly! Anything from you is a gift.” A long stare from Renjun made Donghyuck squirm in his seat.
The older boy let out a breathy laugh, “I can tell that you’re up to something, Hyuckie.”
“Hm.” Donghyuck hid the beaming grin on his face and turned his head toward the television. “C’mooon, spit it out!”
Oh, he’s just so cute, I wanna squeeze him!
“Okay, okay! So,” Renjun twisted his body to give his entire focus to his partner, “I have a whole date planned out. Picnic and all.”
“Oh?” Renjun’s cheeks were warming up, a loving glaze setting in his eyes. He had always been the one to arrange the dates—usually because he insisted on doing them. Renjun was sweet like that, but Donghyuck decided to switch the roles this time around.
Donghyuck held the other’s hands in his, “Yeah. I’ll make sure it’s the best date ever!”
Renjun would say it certainly was the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for him. They arrived at a pretty hill, one with thousands of colors and flowing flowers. As Renjun laid down the blanket on the grass, Donghyuck snuck up behind him and placed a flower crown of daisies on his head. Lovely.
“Aw, Duckie, you shouldn’t have,” said Renjun in a sing-songy voice. A deep, warm feeling settled itself in Donghyuck’s stomach at his boyfriend’s image. A permanent smile was all he wanted on Renjun.
A plethora of snacks were displayed in front of the boys, a mouth-watering aroma hitting the air and their noses. “I brought us desserts, too,” Donghyuck’s voice faded into the background, listing the various treats, as Renjun admired his appearance. All this for him.
And as the sun started to set behind them, they held each other closely and shared soft kisses. On the mouth, this time, because now they were able to express their everlasting passion. Nothing else could compare to this feeling.
