Noodle Kiss

Summary:

"A spaghetti and meatballs dinner? Kagami-kun is quite the romantic."

"Shut up! I-It's not like that!"

(But indeed it was very much "like that").

---

a romantic(ally clichéd) spaghetti dinner featuring KagaKuro

Notes:

Based off wildflowertips's response to one of my tweets, I came up with this. It was originally a thread of tweets (link in end notes), but it's been on my mind to make it into an actual fic. I'm no stranger to KagaKuro, but this is my first time posting a fic for them, so I hope you do enjoy it. You can either view them as being in an established relationship or just starting to date.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Kuroko! Dinner ‘s ready!” the ace of Seirin’s basketball team calls as he sets a second plate of spaghetti down on the table. He looks over to the living room to see no sign of his partner with the pastel blue hair. ‘Strange. He was just sitting on the couch not too long ago…’ Kagami ponders. Then comes a soft-spoken voice off to his left.

“Yes, Kagami-kun, I’m here.” The tall red-head tenses, trying to hold back a startled yelp. His so-called “shadow” never fails to surprise him.

“Jesus, Kuroko, stop doing that!” Kuroko simply blinks at him and tilts his head.

“Doing what? I was already here before you said anything.” Kagami wants to retort, but rubs a hand over his face and huffs instead. He knows Kuroko is trying to feign being clueless.

“Of course you were…” he mumbles. Kuroko then looks down at the spread on the table: two plates of spaghetti with meatballs, a large salad bowl, a few slices of garlic bread, and two glasses of water. He then looks back up at his partner.

“A spaghetti and meatballs dinner? Kagami-kun is quite the romantic,” Kuroko says as he daintily places a hand to his mouth to cover a smirk.

“Shut up! I-It’s not like that!” Kagami replies, flustered. “Now, sit down and eat!”

---

A little while into their meal, Kagami notices a bit of resistance from the spaghetti noodle in his mouth. Not thinking much of it, he continues to slurp and slurp until large blue eyes come into view. Kagami freezes, cheeks full of spaghetti, as Kurko blinks at him.

They've been munching on the same noodle!

Kagami begins to sweat a little as he and Kuroko just stare at each other in anticipation. And just as he decides he'll just bite off the noodle between them, Kuroko resumes slurping—calm blue eyes never leaving nervous red ones. Kagami’s heart beats faster in his chest the closer Kuroko gets. And when the phantom is just a few centimeters away, he tightly shuts his eyes—not really sure what else to do. Then he feels it—

—the slight tug on the noodle in his mouth.

Kagami's eyes fly open to see Kuroko sit back while chewing and swallowing the noodle that was connected between them.

‘Ah...Kuroko must've bit off at the last second,’ Kagami concludes. He swallows the remaining spaghetti in his mouth and looks down, a touch of disappointment on his face.

Kuroko takes notice of the red-head's appearance and leans forward once again. “Kagami-kun, you have a little sauce here,” Kuroko states.

“Ah, real—” he looks up and manages to say before the faintest touch of lips against his own causes his brain to short-circuit.

Kuroko sits back again with a small grin on his face. Kagami's own turns a bright red. “Thank you for the meal, Kagami-kun. It was very delicious," Kuroko says as he gets up from the table and clears his dishes. The other says nothing—still too stunned from the sudden kiss.

Kuroko finds his light at the dinner table five minutes later still staring at his spaghetti and still sporting a bright red face.

Notes:

If you're wondering how they were able to share a noodle while sitting across from each other, my answer is ridiculously long spaghetti noodles...

Here is the original thread of tweets. This fic is a little different from it, but just as sweet.
