Work Text:

Alban woke up.

His whole body was stiff and was grossly warm. He grunted and whimpered, turning to and fro in the pile of the something he had awoken in.

He also smelled something delicious, hunger roaming in the pit of his stomach wildly.

"Hello?" A voice called, not very far from him.

"Arrghh…?" Alban tried to speak but nothing intelligible came out. "Yessh."

Every syllable was awkward and uncomfortable.

A strong hand pulled him up by his wrist and let him cling to them.

"You al-" The voice stopped cold, body going rigid.

Alban looked behind him.

Corpses.

He had been laying on corpses.

He looked down at himself, finally realizing why the voice had stopped.

Alban was missing a good chunk of his leg, bone showing proudly and dried blood all over him.

Alban gasped.

"Wh-whaaa?" The hand grabbed his chin, forcing Alban to look up at them.

Alban was met with a gorgeous face. Blonde hair, beautiful purple eyes, flawless skin, but a hardened expression.

"What the hell are you?" He said harshly, his eyes sending unspoken threats.

"Ah, ah.. Don't know?" Alban was struggling greatly just to get out something that resembled a sentence. His eyes continued to scan himself. The young man found bruises, bloodied scratches, and other missing chunks of flesh. His gaze shook and tears filled his eyes.

He couldn't feel a thing.

What was wrong with him?

The blond was still holding him, he shook Alban gently.

"You..don't remember? Do you know your name?"

"Ahh..bannn?"

"Aban?" The man asked gently, face softening.

Alban shook his head. "Allll..ban."

"Oh! Alban?" The blonde asked.

Alban nodded his head happily, momentarily forgetting his injuries.

The blonde returned the smile. "I'm Sonny."

"Sunnn…eeee?"

Sonny nodded, eyes darting between Alban and the corpse pile.

He must be a zombie…but.. How? I've never seen one that talks..or doesn't try to kill people on sight. Sonny thought, releasing Alban.

Alban stared up at him, dirty hair matted to his head with sweat. Another sweet smile was sent in Sonny's direction.

A zombie..? No way..

He sighed. "Follow me. You can walk, right?" When Alban nodded joyously, Sonny bit his lip.

"I was collecting supplies for my camp.." Sonny said, deciding that it was best to explain his and Alban's shared situation. "We're in a zombie apocalypse. No one really knows how it happened, one day someone got bit, and bit someone else..and it only continued." Sonny sighed. "Life's hard. Really hard."

He carried a baseball bat and wore torn jeans and a bloodied t-shirt, which was covered by an orange puffy jacket.

A good bit better than Alban's rags.

"Zom?" Alban asked, deciding not to bother trying to pronounce the entire word.

"Yeah. Flesh-eating monsters. Formerly humans."

Alban looked down at himself, eyebrows furrowing. "Zom…?" His voice was faint, gently soaked in dread.

Sonny looked at him. "Maybe. But you're a little different." Sonny said, gently patting his head. "I'm hoping I can take you back to camp with me, but we'll have to see."

Sonny stopped walking, placing his hands on his hips. Their surroundings were bleak.

Dead bodies littered the ground, abandoned vehicles lined the street, the only noise was faint and foreboding.

"Zombies." Sonny sighed, raising his bat. "Stay behind me, Alban."

Alban obliged, a strange feeling rising within his gut. He felt like he should be the one telling Sonny to get behind him.

Alban audibly gasped as weird forms rounded the corner of a beat up building.

Blank faces, torn clothes, the beings looked human, but the noises they made argued otherwise. Pained groans escaped their lips continuously, and their skin took on a sickly tone.

Zombies.

Sonny breathed sharply.

Alban whimpered.

A zombie sped up its limping towards Sonny, who bashed its head in with his bat, not waiting a second. More zombies got smashed before one crawled towards Alban.

Alban hissed and tore into it.

With his teeth.

"Alban!" Sonny cried, smacking another undead.

Alban bonked the zombie with his fist and continued to tear into it, blood splattering onto his face. His eyes were almost crazed and Sonny took a step back.

Alban's gaze snapped to Sonny. His eyes narrowed.

Sonny gasped as Alban lept towards him. The zombie that had been behind him let out a pained cry as its neck was broken savagely. Sonny watched in cold shock as Alban destroyed the zombie with his teeth and hands.

Once the zombie stopped making noise, Alban's eyes widened at what laid before him.

Sonny stood him up by his shoulders and looked him square in the face.

Even if Alban was a zombie, he could manage human interaction, and fought like a beast . Sonny had never witnessed anything of the such, but Ike from camp would probably be over the moon to study such a specimen.

"Sonny?" That was the clearest Alban had spoken since he woke up, surprising even himself. Sonny snapped out of his thoughts and patted Alban on the head.

"We just need some car bits, or anything metal really. Back to camp after that, there are no zombies there."

You'd be the first one. Sonny thought.

Alban grabbed Sonny's hand, poking his orange jacket.

Sonny raised an eyebrow. "Do you like it?"

He removed his jacket promptly and put it on Alban's shoulders.

Sonny gave Alban a dizzying smile. "Cute."

The pair gathered all the necessary supplies, Alban snarling when the sound of the undead grew even slightly louder and Sonny brandishing his bat when Alban made any noise of alarm.

Those at the camp weren't quite accepting of Alban at first.

"Bitch, do you plan on him infecting all of us in our sleep?" Uki hissed at him.

"It's not very safe to get so attached so soon, Sonny." Shu cautioned gently.

Sonny defended Alban, making sure to show off that he understood human speech and not to attack humans.

"Come on guys! Please!" Sonny begged. "He's so cute and well-behaved!" Sonny poked Alban's cheeks affectionately, receiving a heart-shatteringly adorable smile.

Uki rolled his eyes, but Fulgur placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Babe, he looks harmless! If he acts up, he's harshly outnumbered. Come on? For Sonny?"

Everyone else around muttered among themselves.

"Fine. Ike'll probably wanna check him out anyway." Uki sighed.

In a couple of days, all of the camp had successfully fallen head over heels for Alban. No serious testing had even been done on him. They helped him practise his speech and cleaned up his wounds, even though they wouldn't have gotten infected anyway.

Most importantly, Alban had grown attached to everyone else.

The brunette had no memories of who he was before he was turned, but meeting Sonny that fateful day had changed his newfound life completely.

What could have been loneliness…

And desperation…

Even death.. (again)

Was nothing but happiness with the people he now considered family.

Alban could easily say that he loved Sonny with all of his heart. He would face several hordes of zombies if it meant reaching Sonny. Even if he lost a leg, an arm, an eye.

He would lose anything if he would gain Sonny, the man that never failed to make him feel a strange and new type of hunger.

Everyone at camp seemed to know that, except Sonny himself.

Alban wasn't even sure how Sonny would feel. How was a human supposed to feel after being confessed to by someone who could barely be considered living?

Did the fact that Sonny was a human and Alban was a zombie mean that they couldn't be together?

"Alban!" Sonny's warm voice wrapped over him almost like a blanket, scaring all of his negative thoughts away.

Sonny stood beside him, leaning against a randomly placed railing in the dirt near the gates of the camp.

"Shu wants us to get this plant." Sonny began. "No picture, though. Only a really vague description. Wouldn't mind a walk though?" Sonny chuckled to himself.

Beautiful.

The two of them left camp without a word to anyone else, shoulders brushing up against each other comfortably.

"Sonny."

"Alban?" Sonny wore a pleasant smile.

Alban drew Sonny into a tight hug, appreciating his warmth.

He's always been so warm.. Alban thought.

"A-alban?" Sonny asked, his voice shook just a touch. Alban whispered something that went unheard before bringing his lips up to Sonny's neck.

Sonny squeaked, but didn't shake Alban off of him.

"Thank you, Sonny."

"Huh?"

"I love you, Sonny"

"H-huh??" Sonny breathed, mind running wild. "Alban?"

Alban kissed his neck gently, teeth grazing against Sonny's skin. Sonny drew in a sharp breath, shoulders going slack. Alban went in more aggressively, arms tightening around Sonny. He was still mindful to make sure his biting didn't break any skin, but he was sure he would leave a bruise.

"Sonny, do you like me?" Alban gave Sonny a moment to breathe easily. "Even if just a little bit?"

Sonny's eyes shone with hot passion, he grabbed Alban's face and dove into a deep kiss.

Tongue met tongue and teeth met teeth, drool running down Alban's chin. It was a messy, slobbery kiss, but Sonny wouldn't have it any other way.

The way Sonny had attached himself to Alban within the first minutes of their initial meeting hadn't struck him as normal, but he had never been against shoving those strange feelings down if it kept Alban comfortable around him.

Sonny would say that he loved Alban without any questions asked. They hadn't known each other for more than a week, but it didn't matter.

Sonny loved Alban.

Loved him to death (hehe).

Sonny cradled the back of Alban's neck as the kiss deepened, a strong blush creeping up his neck. Alban's hands explored Sonny's body as Sonny's tongue explored Alban's mouth.

Alban suddenly paused and shoved Sonny away from him, eyes wide in realization.

"Sonny!" He cried. "What if you turn?!"

Sonny's entire face paused.

Forgot about that . He thought, dread tip-toeing up his spine.

But only for a moment.

Sonny pressed Alban's face against his own. "I don't care."

It was a bad idea, but this moment of lust wouldn't end because of some stupid cockblocking thought.

"I only want you, Alban."

"Sonny.."

Alban couldn't help himself.

He bit into Sonny's neck roughly, earning himself a low, sensual groan. He hadn't drawn any blood, so he went on to nibble on the spot, gasps from Sonny only encouraging his pursuit.

"Alban." Sonny moaned his name, snapping Alban's self control into two.

The shorter man went on to tug on Sonny's t-shirt, resulting in a shocked squeak from Sonny.

Alban hadn't even known that Sonny was a squeaker. Sonny's cuteness only added on to Alban's list of reasons why he loved the man.

"Alban!" Sonny gasped. "M-maybe you should slow down?" Sonny's voice was dripping in anticipation, to Alban's sheer delight.

"We can do this at camp? I really don't wanna be interrupted by a horde." Sonny pleaded halfheartedly.

"Beats Uki." Alban said slowly, eyeing Sonny's now bare chest.

Sonny whimpered under his intense gaze.

Alban leaned over Sonny who was now fully laying down on the ground.

"Don't worry, I'll be gentle."
