The five times you see Matt Murdock shirtless

Summary:

A recount of the five times you saw Matt Murdock shirtless that impacted your relationship with him.

Notes:

Honestly, this was supposed to be one part only, but since each time is kinda long, I decided to split them up.

Chapter 1: The first time you saw Matt Murdock shirtless was an accident.

Chapter Text

You were determined to change your life and the first step was hitting the gym first thing in the morning, and since you were taking it really seriously, you were there at 5 am sharp. Fogwell’s was on your way to work, cheap, and thankfully empty. Or so you thought.

Apparently, some other person decided to make their New Year’s resolution to go there at the same exact hour as you, or probably earlier, because judging by the sounds inside, you were sure that person was in the middle of a clearly invigorating session.

5 am seemed like a good time to go because no one would be there—you hated gyms, and strangers only made you more self-conscious, even though you knew they were probably doing their own thing, and little to not worried about what you were doing anyway. You hated it, and you were about to quit the whole idea, but as you walked in, you saw him sparring alone shirtless. You sighed deeply and walked towards the changing room, and if he hadn’t heard you before, he had now.

“Hey,” he said, turning his trained body to you. His naked chest heaved with each intake of air, making you even more uncomfortably for staring. He seemed fit, but you weren’t sure if it was gym-fit or bad-ass-fit; either way, he was quite the sight for sore eyes, especially at that time of the day.

“Hey,” you sheepishly replied, stopping right in the middle of the gym. “Early bird?” You asked back, after a sudden burst of confidence that you soon regretted. You didn’t want to make small talk, or any kind of talk whatsoever, you just wanted to get your hours in and that’s it.

“Yeah,” the stranger, whose name you’d soon find out, chuckled softly and nodded his head. He walked towards the ropes and rested his arms there, leaning his body weight on them. “You too, I suppose.”

“I guess so,” you shrugged as you walked towards him. “I thought this was a good time to find no one here, but… I guess I’ll come back later,” you were just about to turn on your heels when you heard shuffling coming from the ring and ropes, and some steps on the cold floor. “Looking good, by the way.”

“You don’t have to go,” he chuckled and grabbed your hand to make you turn around. “I’m Matt, by the way. Matt Murdock.”

“(Y/N)… uhm (Y/L/N).”

“I mean it, you don’t have to go—, these don’t work,” he pointed at his eyes, but by the way he moved a few minutes ago, you were sure he was lying. There was a cane resting on a bench to make his story plausible, but you still had a couple questions before totally buying his story.

You looked at him suspiciously, but it was too early to fight or argue with a guy that you just met. “Nice to meet you, Matt,” you sighed and started walked again towards the changing room.

He seemed nice, nice enough to help you spar once you were into your gym clothes.

He was good. Way too good.

After a while, and when you were decidedly sweaty and exhausted, you asked Matt to take a break. He obliged, feeling tired himself. He said goodbye claiming he had to go to work, but promising to help you whenever he was around, and to make his promise stronger, you two exchanged numbers, which you thanked later because you had no idea how to start training. He left with his cane, and he either was a good actor, or truly blind. You’d find that out soon too.

And that was the first time you saw Matt Murdock shirtless, it was nice, but nothing compared to what you’d see later.
