Work Text:
Husband and wife.
Inuyasha pinched himself just to make sure it was real, that this wasn’t some nightmare induced by still being pinned to that damned tree, or by being imprisoned in the endless void of the Shikon No Tama.
“Inuyasha?” Kagome tilted her head, trying to puzzle out the jumble of emotions that Inuyasha never was very good at hiding.
“S—sorry.” Inuyasha scratched the back of his head. Kagome was his wife! Yet, somewhere his brain kept telling him that this could not be real. Hanyō did not get ‘happily ever afters.’
“It’ll be easier to just tell me,” Kagome reasoned, taking Inuyasha’s hand in hers. “We’re a team now.”
They always were a team. From the moment that Kagome woke him up, they were a team. She never gave the fact that he was hanyō a second thought. She never doubted his innocence in Kikyō’s demise.
She ran to him for protection and jumped in front of him to protect him in kind. It was easy to pledge to be hers, both back before the final battle with Naraku, and now.
And he would have been there for her, by her side, forever.
He never would have dreamed that he would be by her side as her husband.
“Just…” He couldn’t resist; Inuyasha leaned in and captured Kagome’s mouth, trying to convey to her through a kiss what he had such a hard time ever speaking.
“I love you, too,” Kagome giggled; she did understand.
One kiss was not enough. It never would be enough. Not enough to show Kagome that he loved her more than anything in the world. Not enough, either, of Kagome’s soft lips, or her delicious scent, or the quiet whimpers that she did not even seem to know that she was making.
It was intoxicating. It was addictive. It was…
It was allowed.
He was permitted to touch her now, to kiss her, to nuzzle into her neck and to absorb her scent.
God, he wanted it, and he wanted so much more, but…
But he was a hanyō. And even as Kagome accepted him as her husband, would she really accept him as—as everything?
Inuyasha knew about sex—at least somewhat. Unfortunately, his enhanced demonic senses often made him an unwilling spectator to the sex life of his friends. He did his best to close his ears and ignore Miroku and Sango’s blended scents, but he could never entirely get away from it.
And once—only once—he asked Miroku to explain the logistics of it to him. In case he ever took a wife. In case Kagome ever came back. In case…
In case Kagome wanted to be with him as fully as he wanted to be with her.
But that could wait. Maybe she wasn’t ready. Maybe she would never be ready to lay with a hanyō, and that was okay. Just being in her presence, just kissing her, caressing her, being close enough to her that he knew every layer of her scent, well, that could be enough for him.
When he opened his eyes, Kagome’s face carried one of those looks—the one she sometimes got in the modern world when he did or said something stupid.
“Wh—what?” Inuyasha tried not to panic. Was even kissing her something that she did not want? God, that would be hard… but… Inuyasha could manage. He belonged fully to Kagome, for as much or as little as she desired of him. “It’s—it’s okay if—” Kagome’s eyes darted up to his drooping ears; he knew they were drooping, but he couldn’t help it. “If you don’t want to do anythin—”
But Kagome’s finger came over his mouth before he could finish his sentence. In the depth of her eyes, Inuyasha could see it: grief, noticeable for only a moment before quickly submerging beyond notice, replaced with an overpowering warmth.
“Let’s go to the well.” Kagome didn’t give Inuyasha a chance to protest; she grabbed his hand and she tugged. He was helpless to do anything but follow.
The path to the well was well-traveled, and if one did not know any better, they might even presume it to be a game trail. But the only feet that ever used that path were Inuyasha’s (and occasionally Shippō’s), plodding on toward his vigil. One he vowed to continue on until either the day he died, or the day that Kagome returned to him.
He would thank the kami for the rest of his life for reuniting him with Kagome after only three years.
But… why was she leading him to the well? They had a perfectly serviceable hut, and after the ceremony, he had even offered to take Kagome to a hot spring to bathe. She’d declined both.
What was he trying to rush this for? After three years, had his patience all dried up the second she returned to him? Had he forgotten all of those silent conversations with the kami about what he was willing to sacrifice to see Kagome again?
The thick trunk of the Goshinboku was in view now, and if Inuyasha squinted, he could make out the diamond-shaped scar: the place he slept for fifty years. The place he sometimes touched on his way to the well, because Kagome woke him up from his cursed sleep.
Then, finally, the nondescript weathered frame sheltering a well dry of water. Useless to any passerby, and everything to Inuyasha. Because the Bone Eater’s Well connected him to her, to Kagome. To his wife, who had finally slowed their pace. The evening twilight had waned, so the sky was dark and the forest lit with fireflies.
Kagome turned to him. Her eyes searched his with the intensity of wildfire clearing a meadow.
“I have a question for you,” she started, her eye contact unwavering. “Do you want to be with me?”
Inuyasha probably made some inhuman sound when she asked. Hell, he was probably turning some particularly saturated shade of red, but… but… there was still something so vulnerable about being honest right now, about giving in to saying out loud exactly and all that he wanted.
A family. With Kagome.
That’s what he wanted.
And boy, did he want all the parts that led up to creating a family.
“Is that okay?” Inuyasha hadn’t realized that the words came out of his mouth until he heard Kagome skip a breath. “I mean! Well… I just—sometimes. I—when you got back and we got married I just—I… I can wait. For as long as you need. Forever, really.”
But the next sound was not Kagome tsk-tsking him. It was the ethereal jingle of Kagome’s windchime laughter. Small and breathy, not meant to tease, meant to warm. She stepped closer to him, and placed her hand onto his chest. Something in her scent changed, and the intensity behind her eyes returned.
“Inuyasha.” She was breathing heavily, and her face had started to flush. “We waited for three years. I don’t want to wait anymore.”
“Ka—Kagome.” Inuyasha covered her hand on his chest with his own, and he leaned down for another kiss, his other hand raking through Kagome’s hair. It was going to happen! It was going to happen! Inuyasha was going to make love to his wife.
…Inuyasha was going to make love to his wife.
Inuyasha did not know how to make love to his wife.
Miroku said, “Your body will know what to do;” what the fuck was that supposed to mean? He was a hanyō. He had faith in his ability to be gentle, but he did not have faith that he could just… figure out how to make Kagome feel good
It was only when Kagome asked what was wrong that Inuyasha realized that he’d frozen from his thoughts.
“I—I…” God why was this so hard? He needed to just say it. “I want to be with you, but—but… I don’t exactly know how.” This was humiliating. His ears were drooping again, he knew it, and he had killed the romance of their moment.
But Kagome was smiling. And the gentle warmth of her eyes had spread into her expression, even into the way she caressed his face.
“Good thing for you that you married a modern girl,” she sang, windchimes on the wind. “Would it be alright if…” Kagome took his hand in hers and she guided it toward her heart—no. Kagome was guiding him somewhere else. To—to her breast. “If I took the lead?” She giggled nervously, pink blush dusting her cheeks. “It’s just that… in my world we—we learn about things. Like sex.” She took a deep breath. “I want to make love to you so much, Inuyasha. And I think I know how to make it feel good. Even now, even the first time.”
Oh god. Inuyasha definitely whimpered when she asked. He tried to hold it in, but there was no chance of that happening. Not when his wife was so utterly perfect. Not when she always found a way to say the right thing. To smooth over his shame with her warmth. To…
Once in a while, late at night when the full moon was high, Inuyasha would sneak into camp and rifle through Kagome’s backpack. His mother had taught him to read, and the books she brought back from her world had such clear writing and beautiful pictures that… that he couldn’t help himself. Her world had knowledge of the inside of bodies, it had knowledge of what powered the stars, of strange and exotic lands far beyond Japan.
He always marveled at how much knowledge Kagome’s world held. At Kagome’s easy explanations of things that he thought to be magic, but were actually ‘science.’
In one of those modern books, Kagome had learned about sex.
Inuyasha already thought of himself as the luckiest man in the world. To have a wife like Kagome, he was beginning to believe he might have to expand that to being the luckiest man in the entire universe.
“Okay,” Inuyasha rasped, and before the joyful squeal broke from Kagome’s lips, Inuyasha continued. “But I want you to tell me stuff. Like what feels good. If I could do something better. If—if you want something I’m not doing—”
Another windchime giggle tickled his ears.
“Oh, anata,” Kagome beamed. “Yes. And—and… I’d like you to do the same.”
Kagome stood up on her tiptoes, and she kissed Inuyasha more hungrily than before, her tongue lapping at his, her hand on the back of his neck, steadying her as she explored his mouth. Her hand trailed up further, into his hair, ruffling his bangs, to his…
Inuyasha’s knees nearly buckled. Had touching his ears always felt like this? Because the moment Kagome’s delicate fingers applied pressure to the tip, a tense warmth sloshed through his body, thrumming at his nerves and pooling in his groin.
“You like when I touch your ears like that, huh?” Kagome whispered. The heady undertone in her voice, the one that complemented the intoxicating shift in her scent, only served to pool more tension between his legs.
“Yeah,” Inuyasha confirmed; he really really liked it when Kagome touched his ears like that. And whispered like that. And smelled like that. And… “Fuck, Kagome. Did you really learn that from your books?”
The windchime giggle was back.
“No, my books didn’t teach me that,” she teased, her hands still rubbing the shells of his ears; he leaned into her touch. “But they did teach me that… that trying things and communicating were the two most important things.” She stretched and kissed Inuyasha’s cheek. “I already love you so much that I feel like I’m going to burst. And I know that we have a wonderful life together ahead of us. Tonight, I just want you to make me yours. And if we also find out things that feel amazing, too? Well… then I am just the luckiest woman in the world.”
When Kagome tugged at Inuyasha’s suikan, dropping it to the ground next to the well, he didn’t stop her. When her hands teased the hem of his hadagi, he lifted his arms to allow her to tug it over his head, trying not to breathe as she considered him, as her scent grew sharper, more heady, more delicious.
When she followed him, tugging off her miko’s hakui and tossing it atop his suikan, Inuyasha had to suppress the tremble that threatened him.
His wife was a sight. Her skin was smooth and soft, and seemed to glow even under the light of fireflies. Inuyasha swallowed and permitted himself to drink in Kagome’s breasts: round and firm peaks adorning her chest, yet satiny smooth. Inuyasha wanted to touch them. He wanted to taste them. He wanted to—
Kagome’s hand clutched his wrist, jerking his gaze upward, back to her face, to her eyes, to her smile.
“Do you want to touch me, Inuyasha?” Kagome asked, every word met with a new spike in scent.
“Y—yes.” He breathed out; Kagome’s smile grew wider.
“I want you to touch me too,” she admitted. “So… please please, tell me what you want. Don’t hold back.”
Inuyasha could always tell when his ears started to wiggle. Not because he felt their vibration, but because Kagome’s eyes always darted up, then nearly immediately gained a twinkle. That, the way she relished in his hanyō characteristics, was what made Kagome so special.
“As long as you do the same. If you want to touch, then just… ask me too,” Inuyasha declared. He was not expecting the spike in her scent for saying that.
“May I… touch your abs?” Kagome asked, her lower lip pinched by her tooth.
“Yes,” Inuyasha purred. He barely had enough time to prepare before her hands were raking the washboard of his belly, her thumb dragging through the valley between them. And every touch crackled inside of him, sending current after current of electric bliss straight toward his groin, straight to—
His fundoshi had gotten extremely constricting.
“Hmm.” Kagome’s eyes had trailed down to exactly the area of concern. “What do you say to… removing the rest of our clothes first?”
Inuyasha probably should have been embarrassed at the demon speed with which he obliged her request. Until he looked up to see that Kagome—his wife—had matched his speed.
He had been taught that women were not interested in sex (although Miroku and Sango had put that cliché to bed, so to speak). He had heard that he was unnatural, unworthy of love. That all who would gaze upon him would view him as a grotesque curiosity at best, and a disgusting beast at worst.
Yet, here Kagome stood, the model of feminine sensuality incarnate, gaping at Inuyasha’s naked skin, face flushed with desire, eyes wide with wonder, breasts heaving up and down, up and down, as she took him in.
“Wow, just wow.” The words barely made it out between Kagome’s breaths; Inuyasha never felt so cherished.
She leaned forward, and she took his hand, guiding it toward her chest. Inuyasha let himself go limp, so that his hand would follow, unresisting wherever Kagome’s led. Soon, he could feel the soft give of her breast under his palm. He let the pads of his fingers drag against the silken skin, ears perked to the soft whimpers that Kagome was releasing at his touch. He let his thumb spiral inward, toward the pebbled flesh of her nipple, trying not to meet her whimper-for-whimper as she began to tremble from his touch.
“Does it feel good?” Inuyasha asked, pausing his advance to wait for her answer.
“Yes,” Kagome murmured, wobbling against his grip. “It feels amazing.”
She tucked her head against his shoulder, and let her tongue find the sensitive skin where his jawline met his neck. Inuyasha’s knees definitely buckled after that one, sending them both tumbling to the ground, onto the clothes they had piled there.
“I don’t even need to ask if you liked that!” Kagome beamed, her teasing laughter coaxing out Inuyasha’s own.
There they were, resting on the forest floor in sight of the well which brought Kagome to Inuyasha, and of the tree where they met, touching each other for the first time, a human and a hanyō, man and wife.
Kagome sat on top of him; her legs draping on either side of him. Inuyasha could feel the soft curls of her groin teasing his own, could sense the slight wet that tickled from directly between her legs: manifestations of her want for him.
His wife. His wife! Desired him! She looked at his ears and smiled as they wiggled. She trembled and sighed at the scratch of his claws. She gazed upon the part of him that his fundoshi hid and licked her lips at his nakedness.
“Inuyasha?” Kagome asked, adjusting herself over top of him. “Can—can you touch me… between my legs?” She swallowed. “I—I want to be ready for you. And that will help.”
“Yes,” Inuyasha breathed. “But… c-can you show me… how?”
Kagome shuddered, then nodded. She took Inuyasha’s hand, and positioned it between her legs. He could feel the heat radiating from her core, waiting to be ready to open for the whole of him. One last adjustment, and Inuyasha’s fingers met the slick of Kagome’s pussy.
“Just… there. Where you feel that—yes.” Inuyasha’s finger found its way to a bud, slippery with arousal that made Kagome’s muscles limp. He feathered his finger against it, encouraged on by the way Kagome moaned. He changed the pattern—spiraling, hooking, sliding—until he reached the apex of Kagome’s moans. “Just like that, Inuyasha, yes.”
He wanted to slide Kagome’s naked body up, so that his tongue could taste what his fingers were teasing. He wanted to snuffle in the earthy scent of her arousal, to know fully what he could do to her but… but he couldn’t bring himself to stop this moment, Kagome’s back arched against his finger, her head lolling from side to side as she whimpered, her hips keeping rhythm with his hand. Maybe he could lick his fingers, taste every note of her arousal, and commit it to memory for any night that he could not be with her.
His own erection was now swelled painfully against his flesh, aching for the claim it seemed to know was coming. Aching to join Kagome’s body. Aching to…
“I—I think I’m… ready.” Kagome stopped Inuyasha’s ministrations, withdrawing his hand, now wet with her want. “Do you still want to—to make love to me tonight?”
“More than anything,” Inuyasha blurted, before he could stop himself. Her windchime giggle once again was the balm against his embarrassment.
“Then lay back. It might take me a second to—to… get comfortable,” Kagome instructed; Inuyasha obeyed immediately. “But—but please look at me. I—I love the way you look at me.”
“I won’t ever stop looking at you, anata,” Inuyasha answered, his own heart now as bared and naked as his body. “I love you, Kagome.”
“I love you too, Inuyasha.” Kagome sniffled as she said it, and for only a moment, the scent of salt mixed with the scent of desire.
And then, the rest of the world melted away. Kagome sat up, and brought herself down directly on Inuyasha’s dick, lowering so quickly that he nearly yelped at the abrupt sensation. She was warm—hot—surrounding him, accommodating his girth yet squeezing against it.
Then, she started to move, her hips undulating in fits and starts, until she found a rhythm.
“Do you feel good?” Kagome asked, her breaths deliberate and forceful, in time with every motion.
Inuyasha could do no more than grunt. It was taking all his concentration to hold back, to fight the building orgasm that threatened to abruptly end this bliss.
Could Kagome possibly understand what this moment felt like? Yes, the physical sensations that coursed through him were a pleasure that his hand would never be able to emulate, and feeling the weight of his woman pressing him into his suikan was a hallowed experience.
But those were not what unraveled him.
It was the way her eyes roved him, somehow making him feel like the most desired and most precious man to walk the Earth all at the same time.
It was the little trembles, the little whimpers that she made without realizing, because laying with him made Kagome feel good.
It was the way her mouth hung agape, as if she was astounded as he was that they were there. Together. Making love by the well with the fireflies lighting their revelry.
Inuyasha couldn’t tell if he would cum or cry first, but it was a certainty that he would do both that night. Kagome, his wife, had gifted him something loftier than any wish he made to the kami.
She was his home. She was his pleasure. She was his acceptance. She was his soul. She was his love.
“K—Kagome—“ Inuyasha didn’t have long now. He was close to bursting; his mounting orgasm constricting tighter in his groin, his mounting tears pooling behind his eyes. “Kagome… Kagome…”
“Inuyasha.”
That was what did him in. Her soft coo of his name, spoken like a prayer to the stars. A reminder to him that Kagome knew exactly who was fucking her. Exactly who she married. Exactly whose children she would carry.
He couldn’t hold off the tidal wave any longer. He thrust into her with abandon, spilling his seed deep inside of her, before burying his face in his hands and allowing himself to weep.
She didn’t separate from him when she draped herself over him, nuzzling into his neck and running her fingers through his hair. Inuyasha forced his eyes open, unashamed of the tears that still freely streamed from them, and he wrapped his arms around her, before peppering her eyelids with kisses.
“I love you, Kagome,” he sniffled. “I love you so so much.”
“I love you too, Inuyasha,” she replied, and when she met his eyes, he saw that her eyes, too, were streaming with tears. “I love you so so much.”
Their first time wasn’t best sex they would ever have, and it wasn’t the night that they would conceive their first child. But for Inuyasha, laying there naked holding his wife, watching the fireflies dance and listening to the wind sing in the branches of the Goshinboku and the depths of the Bone-Eater’s well, it was perfect.
