Chapter 1: 1

Summary:

Where Min Yoongi is tired of waiting for his soulmate.

Chapter Text

Min Yoongi was sick and tired of this. He sighed, dumping the rose into the trash can next to him. Why didn't people understand that he was just not interested?

The girl in front of him stood speechless at the blatant rejection. She huffed and stomped away, earning gazes of pity from the onlookers.

"That's harsh, hyung," Taehyung said from beside Yoongi.

"It has to be done, Tae. I just don't understand why people even try after this. They should know better." Yoongi started walking and the younger fell into step beside him.

"It's not their fault for wanting to find out if they're your soulmate. I mean, being the soulmate of the most popular boy on campus is a huge deal," Taehyung shrugged.

"Popular, my foot. I hate this so much, you know?" Yoongi groaned.

"I wouldn't know that if you didn't keep mentioning it every second of the day." Taehyung pitied his hyung for whatever he was facing, but many people thought Yoongi was lucky to have so many boys and girls falling at his feet. "But cheer up, hyung! I'm sure you'll find your soulmate. You'll just have to keep looking."

"Oh, I'm done looking for them. I don't care anymore. I mean, I've been to almost every part of Daegu since birth and have been to Seoul every summer. I don't think there are any more chances of me finding my soulmate."

It's not that Yoongi didn't want to find his soulmate. But he's been actively searching for the past 22 years and it's only fair that his soulmate searched for him too. It felt like he was the only one doing all the work.

Taehyung knew how excited his hyung was to meet his soulmate, he's also seen how much he tried finding them too. But it wasn't easy, especially when the only way to figure out his soulmate was by physical touch. Especially since the older didn't like physical touch.

He always said that he'd know when he found his soulmate without even having to touch them. Taehyung disagreed with that, but didn't voice out his opinion, not wanting to discourage his favourite hyung further.

Physical touch was another reason why Yoongi hated that so many people wanted to figure out if they were Yoongi's soulmates. Cause they got a chance to touch his pretty hands when he didn't want them to. He always complained that he should sue everyone for physical abuse.

But in their world, touching a person was only considered an act of affection and eagerness to find their 'the one'. It also sucked that people didn't understand that they weren't his soulmate. They just wanted to be with him for some reason.

"Okay. I've got to go now. Namjoon hyung must be waiting for me to cook him some ramen," Taehyung said, hitching his backpack further up his shoulder.

"I swear to God, if your soulmates don't know how to cook, I don't know how you're gonna survive for the rest of your lives." Yoongi said, scared for the lives of both his friends. He hoped at least Namjoon's soulmate knew how to cook as that boy was hopeless in the kitchen.

Taehyung just laughed, "I hope so too." He hugged his hyung before bidding goodbye. As he was walking away, he tried to suppress the guilt he felt, building up in his chest.

When he entered his house, Namjoon took one look at his face and sighed. "He doesn't know yet?"

Taehyung shook his head. "I don't know how to tell him. I mean, he's been searching for his soulmate his whole life and it doesn't seem right to tell him that I found mine when I wasn't even searching."

His brother sighed before coming to rub his back. "Don't worry, Tae. I'm sure he won't hold it against you. He's an understanding guy. Sure, he might feel a little bad, but don't you think he'd feel a lot hurt if he gets to know this on his own?"

Taehyung nodded before mentally deciding to let his best friend know that he found his soulmate
Of course, his hyung didn't have to know that he found him a week ago.

He pulled out his phone, wanting to distract himself before the guilt ate him up alive.

Taetae: Hey, Jungkookie!

Yoongi wanted to explode at what he found in his locker at work. He grabbed the box of chocolate-covered strawberries and stormed to the serving counter.

His co-worker, who was making a drink, saw him and hurried to fix his hair. "Hey, Yoongi. I hope you liked my gift." He said, nervously.

"Mingyu, how many times do I have to tell you to stop giving me gifts? You are not my soulmate. Get that through your thick skull!" Yoongi burst out.

This was the sixth gift Mingyu got him this week and it was only Wednesday. Yoongi didn't understand why he was so persistent, but he couldn't say anything hurtful because the boy was his co-worker. However, he was in a bad mood today and he used that as an excuse to yell at him.

"I-I'm sorry. I just really like you, Yoongi," Mingyu's voice wavered.

Yoongi felt bad for yelling and scaring the poor boy. He was only 17 and was eager to get into a relationship, soulmate or not. "Just… wait for your soulmate, okay? I'm sure he's also waiting for you."

The boy nodded before going back to making the drink. Yoongi wanted to say something else to reassure the boy, but he left it at that. It was better he didn't give him false hope.

"Wonwoo" Yoongi heard Mingyu yell out the name of the customer and turned away to go to his locker room. But before he could do that, he heard gasps.

He turned back to see that Mingyu's fingers were touching the customer's fingers and there was a sparkle before everyone cheered.

Yep, Yoongi was definitely in a bad mood today.

"Don't forget to pay your rent, Mr. Min," Yoongi's landlady cheerfully reminded him when he was walking to his room, as if that would lessen (is this even right) the panic he felt when he remembered that he was late for the third month in a row.

"I won't, Mrs. Jung," he politely bowed to her before heading upstairs. When he was finally in his room, he breathed out a sigh of relief, happy to be in his comfort zone after such a stressful day.

With one hand holding a bottle of soju and the other holding some fried chicken, he opened his window, climbed out and sat on the roof, looking at the stars. "Whoever you are, please find me soon. I'm waiting for you."

Meanwhile, in another part of the country, definitely closer than Yoongi expected, loud music filled the room and every person was either dancing or drinking, or both.

"Hey, Seokjin! Where is your best friend today? Is he still a loser?" Two drunk guys laughed and high-fived each other.

"Hey! He's a loser, but only I can call him that!"

Within the next two seconds, the two guys were standing outside, confused as to why the party host pushed them out.

"Serves them right!" Jin muttered under his breath before going upstairs. He went straight for the locked room and heard muffled noises.

"Of course, what else would I expect on party day?" Jin smiled, a little endeared by his best friend and left to greet his guests.

Inside the room was a single person sitting in front of his laptop screen, crying at what was playing.

"Nooo! Why is this happening to poor Noah? Ellie is his soulmate. Their fingers shot out sparkles! Why is she marrying this guy?" He sobbed for what must have been the millionth time.

'He has a name, you know?' His brain provided.

Yeah, but I don't want to say his name and make him relevant.

'He's the second lead. He's already relevant.' The voice in his brain sounded a lot like his best friend.

I don't want to talk to you right now. Shut up!

By the end of the movie, he had made a decision. He wiped his tears away, closed his laptop and fell onto the bed. His eyes moved to the open window above him. He saw the stars shining brightly and felt his heart stutter with excitement.

"I'm ready. Just wait for me, dear soulmate. Park Jimin is coming for you."
