A Touch in the Dark

Summary:

Kirishima and Bakugou take a night off from hero duties to celebrate the neighborhood festival. The night of fun takes a bit of a turn when a young omega goes into heat, but a hero's work is never done. Can the loveable idiots turn things around to enjoy the rest of their date, or will the fight that ensues dampen their good time?

Work Text:

Katsuki stood in the kitchen of their two-bedroom apartment making dinner. Eijirou was hovering over his shoulder as he did so, perpetually in the way. He waved the red-headed alpha away, annoyed with the little space he had been provided. He stirred the curry sauce, smelling first his pot of spicy curry and then the pot of sweet for Eijirou and their son Daiki. It astonished him that after all these years, his mate still preferred sweet curry over spicy, like a child.

He nudged Eijirou in the side, shoving him out of his way. “Can you go to the living room or something? You’re seriously in my way.”

Eijirou stepped back, taking a seat at the kitchen table. He sat there with his elbow on the tabletop scrolling mindlessly through his phone as Katsuki checked the rice. “Hey, it says there’s gonna be a festival this weekend. Do you wanna go?”  Eijirou looked up from his phone to meet Katsuki’s gaze. He had a wooden spoon held up to his lips, sauce dripping down his chin.

Katsuki set the spoon down and glanced at the flier on display on Eijirou’s phone. There was a picture of a firework exploding in the sky with details about a festival in white and gold text below it. “Don’t we have patrols?”  They were running a joint agency now, so they usually worked separate shifts. It meant they didn’t get to spend as much time together as a family, but they were still small. They couldn’t afford to hire too many sidekicks just yet.

Eijirou rolled his eyes rather dramatically. He clearly wanted to go. “We can take off for one night. I’ll ask my moms to take Daiki for the evening.  They’ve been wanting to see him anyway. C’mon, it’s been so long since we’ve gone on a date just the two of us. Please?”  Yeah, he really wanted to go.

Katsuki sighed. They really didn’t have the leniency to both take a night off, but it had been a while. He ran his fingers over the red stud in his ear and glanced at the orange and gold firework-themed ear cuff clipped to Eijirou’s. He sighed once again in defeat and smirked at his mate. “I suppose. It has been a while since I’ve been to a festival.”  Most of the neighborhood would be at the festival, so they could keep an eye on things even if they were not in uniform. After all, everyone knew who they were.  Katsuki had been living in the area for years and Eijirou really made an impact on the residents after he moved in.

“Awesome!”  Eijirou jumped to his feet and made his way around the table, back to Katsuki’s side. He cupped Katsuki’s face in his hands, kissing him fully on the mouth. His pale skin flushed red, and he turned back to the curry.

“Okay, okay. Now let me finish the food before it burns. Get Daiki ready for dinner.”  Katsuki wriggled out of Eijirou’s embrace and brushed him off. He waved the alpha off him, but a feint hint of pheromones trailed after him as he left the kitchen. “This apartment is seriously too small for that idiot.”  Katsuki muttered to himself as he started plating the curry for dinner. The kitchen smelled of a mixture of spices and the subtle sent of oak and amber pheromones. Katsuki felt a warmth bubble up from within him and he vigorously scratched at his head, trying to brush off the instinctual desire welling up from within.

Eijirou had insisted on them wearing matching yukatas. Katsuki had vehemently argued about how lame and uncool it was, but there was no stopping the redhead once he got excited about something. If they were going to wear matching yukatas, he was at least going to be the one to pick them out so that they weren’t gaudy. Who knew what kind of fashion monstrosity Eijirou would bring back if left up to his own devices. He went on a solo mission to a kimono shop in the nearby district to find the perfect yukatas for them to wear to the festival. Katsuki entered the store and was greeted by a kimono-clad shopkeeper with a perfect smile.

He browsed through the racks of fabrics, searching for something that would match the both of them well. As Katsuki ran his fingers over the fabrics, inspecting each one, a voice came from behind him. “Are you looking for anything in particular?” asked the shopkeeper.

Katsuki turned to face the woman. Her brown hair was tucked back neatly into a bun, not a single strand out of place. It was annoying how perfect she looked. “Looking for something matching for my mate and I for the festival.”

“Ah, I see.”  She smiled at him some more, eyes gentle. “Male or female mate?”

“Male,” he replied curtly.

The shopkeeper asked him a few more questions, mostly about Eijirou’s appearance, to determine what would suit them best. She pulled out a few different items and set them on a table for Katsuki to examine. His red eyes roamed over the selections and settled on a checkered print. He thumbed at the fabric and glanced up at the shopkeeper. “Would you also happen to have this one in red?”

Her grin grew wide. God, he hated how smiley she was. “I believe we just might.”  She walked away for a moment before coming back with a new yukata in her arms. Before him were a pair of checkered print yukata – one orange and black, the other red and black. They complimented one another well and he felt satisfied with the pattern. The alternating colors suited the two of them. “Are you looking to rent or to buy?”

Katsuki was about to say ‘rent,’ but paused. “I’ll buy them. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time they get worn.”

She nodded and scooped up the other yukata he had picked out off the table, heading to the register.

By the time Katsuki had returned home, Eijirou had already returned from dropping their son off with his moms. He was sitting on the sofa in the living room and looked up at Katsuki as he entered the apartment. Eijirou was smiling and his gaze drifted to the large paper shopping bag tucked in the crook of Katsuki’s arm. “Find something good?” he asked.

Katsuki nodded, making his way into the living room. “Better than anything you would have brought home.”

“Hurtful.”  Eijirou feigned being wounded in the chest. He rose to his feet and crossed the gap between them, wrapping Katsuki into his arms. “I missed you.”

“You’re clingy,” protested Katsuki, wriggling free.

“Only for you.”

Katsuki rolled his eyes. “We should get these on if we’re going to head to the festival soon.”  He pulled the yukatas out of the bag, carefully unwrapping them. Katsuki held them out for the alpha to see and his crimson eyes widened.

“These are awesome!” he praised.

“Obviously,” Katsuki replied. “Now go change. I want to get there before it’s super crowded.”  He shoved Eijirou towards the bedroom, while he made his way to the bathroom for a quick shower.

Katsuki entered the bathroom and turned on the shower tap, letting the water run warm. He stripped out of his clothes and stepped into the tub, shutting the curtain. Eijirou was clumsy when it came to formal attire, so he knew there was enough time to spare for him to wash up before he put on his own yukata. He was glad to see that Eijirou liked the yukatas, but honestly, that man had such terrible taste in fashion that he would have liked anything Katsuki brought home.

He washed quickly and reached for the towel hanging on the bar before stepping out of the tub. Katsuki had left his own yukata folded neatly outside the bathroom door so that it didn’t get damp from the moisture. He wrapped himself in the towel and stepped onto the cold, tile flooring. A shiver ran up his spine and he stood facing the mirror, fogged over from the shower steam. Katsuki reached for a washcloth, wiping away the fog on the glass so that he could see himself.

Next to the sink sat two small containers: one the mousse he usually used to volumize his hair so that it didn’t sit flat on his head, the other being the industrial strength hair gel that Eijirou had been using since high school. He had tried getting rid of it on more than one occasion, but there always seemed to be more. Honestly, Katsuki preferred when Eijirou’s hair was down. It looked nicer, especially now that it was longer, and he could tie back. However, even after all these years, the alpha still wanted to immortalize Crimson Riot. He understood that sentiment, which is why he had never been able to bring himself to outright ask Eijirou to stop wearing his hair in the spikey-horned updo that it was.

He ran his hands through his damp hair, coating his blond locks with just enough of the cream for his hair to stand up, but still be soft. Katsuki washed the excess off and opened the bathroom door to find a poorly dressed alpha waiting on the other side. Eijirou was a sloppy mess. The collar hung loose around his neck, revealing his shoulder and clavicle. Where he had attempted to tie the obi belt, the yukata was bunched up and peaking open. Katsuki shook his head with a sigh. “You look ridiculous.”

“I, uh, could use a hand,” replied Eijirou innocently. He shrugged with a pleading grin on his face, but the act only made the yukata slip further down his shoulder.

“More like a brain,” Katsuki quipped. He stepped closer, still wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, droplets of water trickling down his pale chest. “This is such a mess. It’s going to have to be completely redone.”  Katsuki wrapped his arms around Eijirou’s waist, reaching for the knot at the back of the belt to untie it.

Eijirou sucked in a sharp breath, biting his lip. “Kats,” he squeaked out in a very unmanly way.

Katsuki released his hold on the obi, the belt falling to the floor. He leaned back to see a wide-eyed Eijirou towering over him, the yukata now spilling open to reveal him wearing nothing but a pair of boxer briefs. There was a discernable bulge in the front of his underwear, the tension plain as day. “Really?” Katsuki asked, brow cocked high.

Eijirou gulped. “I can’t help it. Not when you’re standing there in a towel like that.”

Katsuki pressed his lips together and sighed. “I’m not getting dirty and taking another shower.”

“Kats,” Eijirou whined.

Katsuki knelt in front of his mate. “I didn’t say I wouldn’t help you.”  His gaze traveled up the length of Eijirou’s body to see him flushed as he freed the alpha’s semi-erection from the waistband of his underwear. Katsuki hooked his finger into the waistband, pulling it lower, and pushed the alpha down onto the floor. He dug his fingers into Eijirou’s thighs, positioning himself between the redhead’s legs as he leaned forward.

His head tilted downwards, blond bangs cascading into his eyes as he wrapped his hand around the throbbing erection before him. Katsuki parted his lips, brushing them lightly against the tip of Eijirou’s penis. He felt the alpha quiver and Katsuki opened his mouth fully, taking in the length of the erection. His mouth was warm, and he felt Eijirou buck underneath. The alpha let out a small moan and his thumb traced the bitemark at the back of Katsuki’s neck – sending a shiver down his own spine and creating an ache between his legs.

He flicked his tongue over Eijirou’s dorsal vein and hummed around the tip of his cock. “Kats,” the alpha moaned as he wrapped his fingers into a fistful of blond hair.

Katsuki wrapped his free hand around his own erection as Eijirou pushed his head down further. The head of Eijirou’s warm cock rubbed at Katsuki’s pallet. His eyes watered as the shaft was pushed deeper until his lips met the base of Eijirou’s pelvis, bottoming out. Katsuki’s hand on his erection moved in time with the bobbing of his head on Eijirou’s. His ass ached to be filled by his alpha, but he suppressed the urge to plant himself firmly in Eijirou’s lap. They had a festival to attend, and his goal wasn’t to have sex, at least not right now.

Eijirou pulled harder on Katsuki’s hair, thrusting his cock in and out of the omega’s mouth in rapid succession. “God, Kats, yes! So good,” he moaned harder, his breath quickening.

Katsuki could feel the tip hitting the back of his throat repeatedly, leaving him breathless. His right hand fumbled to maintain the grasp on his own cock, as he dug the nails of his left hand deeper into Eijirou’s thigh to brace himself. Eijirou’s abdominal muscles tensed beneath him and Katsuki felt a throbbing in his mouth.

“Katsss,” hissed Eijirou.

Warmth filled Katsuki’s mouth, and he swallowed as he felt his own body seize with pleasure. His legs trembled and the towel that had been clinging to his waist slipped as he collapsed into Eijirou’s lap, cheek resting on the alpha’s thigh. “Better?” he asked, voice raspy.

Eijirou carded his hands through blond hair, brushing his fingers gently against Katsuki’s cheek. “I mean, I could always go for more, but the festival is calling.”

Katsuki nodded, crawling to his knees. “Let’s get you dressed properly then.”

The sun was beginning to set, and streetlamps lit the path to the park. The aroma of fried and grilled foods filled the air, wafting beyond the stalls that served them. The streets began to slowly fill with people the closer they got and Katsuki ground his teeth at the flop, flop, flop sound coming from Eijirou’s shoes. He glanced down, seeing the red Crocs peeking out from under Eijirou’s yukata. “Did you really have to wear those?”

“What?” asked Eijirou innocently. He cocked his head to the side, looking confused by his mate’s question.

“Those damn Crocs!” he snapped. “The yukata is meant to be formal and you’re wearing those damn Crocs underneath.”

“I like them,” replied Eijirou. “They’re comfortable. You’re going to regret wearing those geta later.”

Katsuki rolled his eyes. “People wore geta for hundreds of years without complaining. I can handle one evening.”  Plus, even if his feet did hurt later, Eijirou was the type to just pamper him rather than say ‘I told you so.’  They would get home and Eijirou would spend the next hour rubbing his feet, which didn’t sound so bad.

“Something smells delicious,” said Eijirou, changing the subject. He was practically drooling already, and the food stalls were just starting to come into view. The path widened, opening to the center of the neighborhood park – food and game stalls lined up in every direction. Kids ran around playing with prizes they won, and couples clung to one another. Eijirou’s eyes sparkled in the light of the setting sun and Katsuki chuckled.

“Do you want to get something to eat first?” he asked, knowing the answer was obvious.

“Yes Please!” Eijirou replied instantly, grabbing Katsuki by the hand and dragging him to the nearest vendor. They were selling Takoyaki and Eijirou eyed it speculatively. “I wanna pick where we get the Takoyaki at. After all that time training under Fat, I’ve become a bit of a commissioner.”

“You mean connoisseur?” asked Katsuki, correcting him.

“Yeah that.”

Katsuki rolled his eyes but nodded. “Sure, whatever. You pick the Takoyaki. I wanna get some soba.”  He released his mate’s hand and walked to the next stall over, where the distinct aroma of fried noodles was coming from. When it was his turn, he ordered two servings and paid, stepping out of the way for new customers. Katsuki stood a few paces back from the stand as new customers filtered in. While he waited, Eijirou came bounding over with a tray of steaming Takoyaki in tow.

“Did you order?” asked the redhead.

“Yeah. Should be done in a minute,” replied Katsuki.

“Here.”  Eijirou stuck a toothpick into one of the balls of fried octopus and held it up to Katsuki’s face.

“I can feed myself,” he protested.

“Just take a bite.”

Katsuki rolled his eyes and leaned in. Eijirou lifted the Takoyaki closer, but his hand slipped. The Takoyaki grazed Katsuki’s chin and landed on his clavicle, before hitting the ground. He furrowed his brows, glaring at his mate. “I told you I could feed myself.”

“Sorry,” muttered Eijirou. His eyes sparkled and he bit down on his lip, pointed teeth sticking out.

“What?” asked Katsuki skeptically.

“Mm,” hummed Eijirou. He leaned in and trailed his tongue over Katsuki’s cheek, licking up the sauce. Katsuki’s face burned at the contact and then the alpha lowered his head further, licking at sauce on his collar bone.

His skin felt like it was on fire, and he shoved the alpha away. “What do you think you’re doing, you idiot?”  Katsuki punched Eijirou’s shoulder, embarrassed.

“You looked tasty.”

The man at the yakisoba stall shouted for their order to be picked up and Katsuki stomped past the curious eyes of onlookers as he made his way up to the stand for their food. He collected the two containers of fried noodles and returned to Eijirou’s side, glowering. There were more watchful eyes from civilians, and he glared back at the passersby pointedly. They scattered. “Let’s eat,” announced Katsuki gruffly.

They took a seat at a nearby bench and Katsuki handed Eijirou one of the containers of food. The yakisoba was steaming and Katsuki split apart a pair of disposable chopsticks. “I’ll take one of those Takoyaki now – preferably in my mouth this time.”  He narrowed his gaze at Eijirou who moved quickly to properly feed him one of the balls of fried octopus. The sauce was tangy, and he chewed slowly, watching Eijirou’s eyes watch him. “It’s good,” complimented Katsuki after he swallowed down the food.

Eijirou grinned wide before busting open his own container of yakisoba. “I told you I had become a commisoneur.”

“Connoisseur,” Katsuki corrected for the second time.

“Right. That thing.”

As they ate, they watched families walk by, talking and laughing. Katsuki leaned into Eijirou’s side, showing just the smallest amount of PDA. The alpha smirked at nipped at his ear when no one was looking. Katsuki felt warmth radiate from his ear all the way down to his toes. He glowered at his mate, scarlet eyes smoldering in the evening light.

“Wanna play some games?” asked Eijirou, ignoring Katsuki’s harsh glare.

Always changing the subject when he’s up to no good. Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Sure,” he replied. He rose to his feet, depositing the empty food containers into a nearby trash can. “There’s a shooting game right there.”

“You’re on!” Eijirou challenged.

They made their way to the shooting game and Katsuki handed over a few hundred-yen coins for the two of them to play. They were each given flimsy rifles with a handful of cork bullets and directed to knock down the targets before them. “Wanna see who’s better?”

“Definitely!” cheered Eijirou.

The answer was neither of them. They both failed tremendously at the game – not one of them knocking down a single target. Katsuki argued that the game was rigged and would have blown up the stand if Eijirou hadn’t stopped them. The man working the stall offered a keychain consolation prize, clearly taking pity on the pro-heroes. Katsuki grumbled but took the keychain anyway. Daiki would appreciate it.

“How about we try the fishing game?”  Eijirou pointed to a nearby booth where kids were attempting to scoop goldfish.

“What are we going to do with a goldfish?” asked Katsuki.

“That’s if we can even catch one. We’re not doing so hot right now.”  Eijirou laughed.

He had a point. They made their way over to the goldfish scooping game and this time Eijirou paid. They were each given a paper net and granted three tries to catch a fish. Eijirou’s brows knit together as he focused with all his might in an attempt to catch a fish. The net broke on the first try.

“Pfft,” Katsuki snickered. Watching him try so hard only to fail so royally was hilarious.

“Let me see you do better.” Demanded Eijirou.

Katsuki pursed his lips and watched as the fish swam back and forth. There was a small child next to him attempting very poorly to catch one as well. Katsuki missed on the first scoop, but his net was still intact. When he swung it into the water on the second try, a fish came up, but flopped out of the net before it could be stopped. On his third try, he caught the fish with ease, holding it up for the man working the booth to bag it. “See,” he said smugly, grinning at his mate.

When the worker handed it back to him, he turned to the boy at his side. “Here, kid.”  Katsuki handed the boy the goldfish. It had flecks of white amidst the yellow-orange color of its scales and the boy’s eyes lit up.

“Really?” he asked.

“Yeah. Take it. We don’t need it.” Katsuki told him.

“Thank you, Mr. Dynamight!” exclaimed enthusiastically. He jumped to his feet and ran to his mom who was standing a few meters back. The boy pointed to them and Katsuki gave a small wave to the mother.

“That was really nice of you,” Eijirou complimented as they walked away.

“Shut up. Fish are just a pain to take care of and goldfish don’t live long. I don’t want to bring one home just for Daiki to be sad that it’s dead in a couple of months.”  Katsuki folded his arms across his chest, looking indignant.

“Such a good dad,” praised Eijirou.

“Shut up you idiot.”

The familiar sounds of shouting began to gradually fill the air and the two of them stopped their bickering. Two pairs of red eyes turned in the direction of a forming crowd and hero instincts began to kick in. They glanced at each other, as if reading the other’s thought. There was trouble and they would have to put their festival date on hold to see what was going on.

“I smell omega pheromones,” announced Eijirou as they approached the crowd.

Katsuki glanced up at the alpha. His gaze was sharp. “Move out of the way!” he shouted at the crowd, breaking through the accumulating mass of people that were gathering. At the center of the crowd was a young omega girl, clearly in heat, and being harassed by a couple of alphas. The crowd whispered and watched, some with phones out recording, but none did anything to stop the scene from further unfolding. “Move!” he shouted again.

The crowd parted and Katsuki ran to the omega’s side, taking the girl into his arms. Small explosions popped off his hands as he squatted defensively, protecting the girl. Eijirou hardened his fists and swung at the two alphas looming over the girl. He hit one, then the other, knocking them off their feet. “It’s an alpha’s duty to protect omegas, not attack them!” he seethed. His crimson eyes were dilated, and he was breathing heavy, towering in front of the two men. Even without fully hardening his body, Eijirou was a brick wall.

“She’s the one in heat out in public!” One of the alphas protested. “You can’t expect us to control ourselves when there’s pheromones everywhere.”

Eijirou stepped closer to them, knuckles cracking.

“Yes, this is Dynamight. We’re at the festival and there’s a couple of idiot alphas attacking a young omega girl that appears to have gone into heat.”  Katsuki had pulled his phone out to call the police while the guy argued with Eijirou. “Yeah. We’ve got the situation handled.  Get here as soon as you can.”  Katsuki hung his phone up and shoved it inside the yukata. “Riot, restrain those two while we wait for the police.”

Eijirou nodded. His breathing was labored as he grabbed each of the men with a hardened hand, holding them in place. The crowd cheered and thanked them for their work, but Katsuki could not help the resentment he felt boiling beneath the surface. There were plenty of people gathered there. They could have easily stopped a couple of bone-head alphas from attacking some young omega girl but chose to stand by. As much has he wanted to believe the world was changing, some things just stayed the same.

“I need you to try and calm down,” Katsuki told the girl. She was flushed and her eyes were hazy. “Did you come here with friends or family?”

“I lost my friends earlier,” she told him in a daze.

“Okay. Well, the police will help get you home soon. Just try to relax.”  Katsuki stroked her head, trying to ease her so that the pheromones would dissipate.

“Police coming through. Move along.”  The neighborhood officers broke through the crowd of people.

Katsuki rose to his feet and escorted the girl to one of the officers. “Those are the men that were causing the commotion, and someone needs to take this girl home quickly,” he told them. The police nodded. One took the girl and the other two went to claim the men Eijirou had been restraining. More civilians cheered and the crowd began to disperse once it seemed like the show was finally over.

Katsuki looked around to see that his mate had also disappeared with the crowd. Where did that big oaf go? He made his way through the throngs of people gathered at the festival searching for a familiar head of red hair. “Ei!” he called out. “Where did you go?”  Katsuki wandered around the park aimlessly. “Eijirou! Seriously, where are you?”  He caught a whiff of something familiar and his eyes widened. Pheromones? Katsuki followed the scent, leading to an alleyway near the park.

Crouched down in the dark of the alley, Eijirou was clutching at his chest. Katsuki stepped closer, breathing in the husky scent of oak and amber. Eijirou’s pheromones were heavy in the alley and Katsuki knelt beside him. “Did that omega in heat get to you?” he asked, voice cool.

Eijirou nodded. His fists were clenched into tight balls, knuckles turning white. “I just — I just need a minute,” he choked out.

Katsuki leaned in closer, pressing the alpha against the building wall in the alley. “We’ll just have to do something about this before anything else. Can’t have you wafting alpha pheromones all over the place.”  He pushed Eijirou down and took a seat on his lap, loosening the belts on both of their yukatas. “Eiji,” he whispered into the alpha’s ear, feeling Eijirou shudder beneath him. The alpha pheromones were beginning to make him hot as well. Katsuki nibbled at Eijirou’s throat and slipped his hand beneath the alpha’s yukata.

He wrapped his hand around the alpha’s cock, throbbing between his fingers. His thumb rubbed at Eijirou’s tip, feeling precum dribble from the head. “Someone’s excited,” he purred.

“Kats,” Eijirou whined. “Please.

“Cute.”  Katsuki rubbed more vigorously, feeling Eijirou buck underneath him. The alpha pulled him closer, reaching behind Katsuki to slide his own hands up Katsuki’s yukata. Eijirou slowly pressed a finger inside Katsuki’s hole, causing him to let out a gasp. He arched his back, feeling Eijirou press deeper inside of him. Katsuki hissed feeling a second finger push in and Eijirou scissored them back and forth, brushing against his prostate.

He pumped Eijirou’s cock, hips thrusting upwards as he felt Eijirou play with his insides. “Ei,” he cried out. Now Katsuki was the one left begging for more. “Put it in.”  He was already dripping wet, slick making its way down his thighs. “Hurry.”

Eijirou lifted him up, positioning Katsuki directly over his throbbing erection, and plunged himself inside the omega. Katsuki felt him hit deep as he pushed down until Eijirou bottomed out. “You’re – ungh – so deep,” he moaned. Eijirou thrusted upwards, rocking Katsuki on his hips.

“So hot,” Eijirou hummed. “You feel so good inside.”  Katsuki tensed around him as Eijirou repeatedly thrusted into him, hitting his sweet spot.

“Ei – c-coming,” he stammered, as the alpha trailed his pointed teeth along the curvature of Katsuki’s throat. His abdomen tightened as Katsuki was overcome by his orgasm, dampening the inside of his yukata.

Eijirou dug his fingers into Katsuki’s hips, bracing himself as the omega came. The tension was overwhelming, and he felt himself on the cusp of climaxing as well. “Katsss,” he hissed, filling the omega fully.

They sat in the alley, a hot sweaty mess. Katsuki panted, curled into Eijirou’s chest. The redhead stroked his back and carded his hand through blond hair. There was a warmth to it that always made Katsuki feel comforted. Eijirou inhaled deeply, calming himself with Katsuki’s scent. The effect of the omega from earlier seemed to have finally worn off thanks to their back-alley romp.

“Marry me,” Eijirou whispered softly out of nowhere.

Katsuki shot up, hands on Eijirou’s shoulders, putting distance between them.  He was certain he had misheard the alpha. “What? What do you mean marry you?”

Eijirou blushed. He ran his fingers through his hair, looking embarrassed. “I didn’t plan to ask like this, all dirty and sweaty in a dark alley. I was gonna ask once we were settled in for the fireworks,” he admitted. He shifted his gaze toward the street, avoiding eye contact. “I thought tonight would be a good night to finally ask. We’re already mates and hero partners, but I want to get married too.”  Eijirou fidgeted underneath Katsuki, reaching within his disheveled yukata to pull out his wallet.

Katsuki watched as if in slow motion as the alpha freed a small round object from his wallet. His eyes widened at the ring and Eijirou took him by the hand, sliding it carefully onto his finger. “Marry me,” the alpha repeated.

Katsuki shook his head chuckling, then cupped his hands around Eijirou’s face, pulling him in for kiss. “I guess we should probably get home to finish what we started. Can’t exactly celebrate being engaged like this.”

“You mean it?” asked Eijirou, eyes hopeful.

“Yeah, idiot. We’ve been through a lot together over the years and there isn’t anyone else I would rather spend the rest of my life with.  After all, we’ve already bonded.”  Katsuki caressed Eijirou’s cheek, looking down at him fondly. “Let’s go home.”

Notes:

Thank you so much for reading! I've had a festival date rolling around in my head for the better part of a year and I was so excited to finally have a chance to use it for something. I love these dumb idiots so much and one of my favorite things is Kiri using/making up words he thinks are other words. How great was the art for the takoyaki scene?? I love it so much. This was such a fun project.
