Chapter Text
Ok, how do I start this? Why not introductions? I hate them, but for some awful reason others seem to find the bloody things necessary.
My name is Jordan Thomas, though I prefer to go by Aspen Thomas. My father was Wyatt Thomas, my mother died when I was 5, she was Jocelynn Thomas. My father was adopted but never talks about his family. My mother has family in Florda, USA, I've met them once, I was 5, you can guess the conditions.
I live in York, though I've recently saved up enough bloody money to get a train ticket to London (read: I finally saved up enough money from pickpocketing and donations that I can finally actually get to London.) I may be homeless, my father may have abandoned me when I was 11, back in 2012. But that’s up to you to guess.
Anyway, I'm in the Avengers base in London, they have small bases all over the world. In case you’re wondering, I was not invited. I kind of. . . broke in? I believe that’s how normal people would put it.
I have a 5-step plan, very loose, unbelievably bad. But hey, it’s a legit plan! Trust me, that’s a first for me.
1 find a way into the Avengers building, 2 try to avoid detection as I make my way to a computer, 3 download knowledge about magic and powers, 4 get my arse out of there hopefully unnoticed, 5 get as far away from London as possible so I can hopefully not get hunted down by the Avengers.
In case you cannot tell, I am likely going to get caught. It's not like I have anything to lose so. . . it doesn’t even matter that much to me.
Finally, let’s get to the damned story.
I've basically finished step 3. I just found the computer room and I plugged my hard drive into it.
“So, daughter of Loki, how are you doing?” a voice asked behind me
In case you’re wondering, I am not a child of Loki. Also, I'm fluid.
“I’m bloody fluid” I told the person behind me as I spun around “Which means, my gender is not fixed. Anyway, I'm currently agender, pronouns they and them. Thank you very much”
Ok, Tony Stark was there. Not good. Not good at all. If Iron Man was here... I was becoming more scared by the second.
“Also Stark, I am not a child of Loki.” I told him, trying to keep my voice steady “Wyatt Thomas is my father, not Loki Laufeyson or Odinson or whatever Loki’s last name happens to be”
“Loki could be your mother” Stark suggested and took a bite of bagel “He’s fluid too”
“Loki’s not my mother either” I offered no explanation for this to Stark, there were many painful memories that I didn’t want to relive
My flight-or –fight instinct was starting to kick in and my brain was yelling at me NOT PART OF THE BLOODY PLAN ASPEN! GET YOUR ARSE OUT OF THERE EARLY! But I couldn’t, my USB stick was still downloading info, and if I pulled it now without ejecting it, all the info that was currently on there would, likely, be lost. I could not afford that waste.
“Anyway Jordan, none of this is really the point right now, so if you’ll kindly get out of this damn building and never trespass in here again, it’ll be fine, and I will erase you from the records. If you don’t, I'll have to detain you, and Vision’s here too, so you won’t get away.” Stark politely told me between bites of bagel
“1 how do you know my name which also brings me to 2, how do you know so much about me, and 3 why in Helheim would you think that Loki is my mother/father?” I demanded “oh, and 4, you expect me to believe you’ll just. . . let me go? Nothing's that easy. Plus, 6, don’t call me Jordan, I hate the name”
Stark cocked his head “clearly you need more experience in this world, Jor-sorry, kid. And the answer to pretty much all of those questions is. . . genetic testing. Except for 4, which the answer is yes, I'll let you go. Also, you missed 5”
I frowned, I had? I didn’t realize that. There were more important things to think about than if I'd missed a bloody step.
“And how’d you get my DNA” I demanded “You couldn’t have matched my face since I've been wearing a mask this entire time. . . I was sure of that. . .” oh great, now I was thinking aloud “and I made sure to wear shoes and gloves. . .”
I glanced at him, Stark seemed unarmed (of course, he’s Iron Man and probably either had a gun on him or knew martial arts, or both) maybe I could eject my chip and get past him?
“Kid, you aren’t exactly in a place to be demanding answers right now. But anyway, dead skin cells fall to the floor. And the Avengers have amazing tech, mostly thanks to none but I" Stark motioned to himself “Last chance kid, and no taking the chip with you”
I'd taken the chip out of the computer already. It was in my fist.
I narrowed my eyes and shifted into a Lynx. Or I tried to at least... I ended up shifting into a sparrow.
By the way, my mind was screaming at me: WHY THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU FLYING?! YOU CANNOT FLY! As I tried to fly up above Stark’s head.
It did not work.
Stark chuckled to himself and said something about foolish teenagers, then he turned his wrist and pressed a button on his watch. The room filled quickly with gas.
I swore very badly as a sparrow, if Stark understood me then he probably would’ve fainted from horror as his ears bled out painfully. It was a nice image in mind as I fainted and fell to the floor, changing to a human.
