Chapter Text
Really, when Dazai left the Port Mafia a lot had happened.
Chuuyas drinking habits had started to get the better of him.
Often if he wasn't at some meeting or on a mission, he was drunk off his ass. Usually Hirotsu ended up forcing him to get sober when he was needed luckily enough.
Sadly, the Boss seemed to recognize his state.
The Boss was wary.
Chuuya was close to Dazai weather they liked it or not. Clearly, Dazai leaving hurt Chuuya weather the guy wanted to admit it or not either.
That's when others started noticing that, Chuuya was being called in the Boss' office more.
All Chuuya would say, is that he was being given some talks.
What they didn't know, was at first these talks consisted on talking about how Dazai left and Mori enforcing Chuuyas own loyalty.
Was it to the Port Mafia or Dazai?
Chuuya insisted it was to the Port Mafia.
As much as Dazai liked to call Chuuya his dog, he was not.
This led to many other things.
After all, Chuuya was powerful as he was loyal. The Boss wanted to know more.
And as much as Chuuya insisted he didn't need these tests done. He didn't need to be examined.
Mori only reminded him, that he would stay loyal to the Port Mafia.
The Port Mafia needed to know his body, needed to know him.
Despite Chuuya saying there was files he could retrieve of things like that, The Boss said they'd be outdated. Chuuya was stronger now after all.
Then the torture started happening.
It felt familiar to the prisoners they had.
Though Mori insisted it wasn't torture. Just a way of testing his body.
Just training maybe? After all, if anyone caught the Port Mafia Executive, they may want some torture of their own.
Sometimes being shocked.
Sometimes electrocuted.
Sometimes cut all overy his body.
Apparently others found out.
Giving Chuuya a sort of pitied look when he was called to the Boss' office. There was scars left behind and Chuuya tensed everytime.
There was an instance.
Chuuya got called down.
Starting their usual talk and Chuuya was put up to be tortured.
Sadly, Hirotsu didn't seem to get the memo of staying away from the office when it was happening.
Walking in with a wary looking Tachihara.
They both quickly noticed.
Hirotsu seemed more calm, giving Chuuya his pitied look. And quickly trying to get Moris attention away from his... patient.
Tachihara was more cautious. Giving glancing to Chuuya. Slightly horrified. The moment he almost walked over, he was pulled away by Hirotsu as they started to leave.
Tachihara, really didn't want to look back and see Chuuya looking just a bit bloodied up, but compliant and unmoving. Hell, Tachihara thought Chuuya might have been dead then.
When the talks of Arahabaki started happening. Everything else ramped up way more.
Chuuya mentioned having some kinds of auditory delusions of the God's voice.
Mori said he could help fix it.
Little did Chuuya know, fixing meant making it worse. Much worse.
Mori decided to ask Chuuya how the voice sounded like and Mori tried to match it.
Trying imitate it.
Telling Chuuya to do the things he didn't want. Hurt people when it was unnecessary. Just simply let go of his control of the God in him.
Chuuya never liked this.
He doubted this.
He doubted that Mori was trying to do anything more than get Arahabaki to come out.
No matter how much Chuuya said it was dangerous. For him and everyone else around the Port Mafia.
Mori only smirked and asked if he was really doubting him. Or his methods of trying to help Chuuya deal with this.
After all no one else has.
No one who has stayed have they?
Chuuya really couldn't say much when this happened. Only letting it continue on, dealing with it.
Even if Kouyou kept giving him knowing looks as he seemed to start flinching at the mere idea of going to Moris office alone.
Chuuya wouldn't breathe a word of it.
No matter how many people seemed to know. They couldn't stop the Boss after all.
Mori seemed to joke that it was better than him drinking his life away.
Chuuya wasn't as sure.
Maybe drinking would kill him, but it would be a much better death than the slow and painful torture.
It all came ahead when, the Port Mafia was notified of a little party they were invited too. Mainly to bring some kind of peace for now.
It was a typical party, but something told Chuuya he shouldn't be going.
Maybe the odd glint in Moris eyes as it was mentioned.
Maybe the fact that the tortured relatively stopped, but the torture of his hallucinations were only made worse.
That was Moris focus as the part happened.
Once they all got there, with Chuuya practically being dragged to the place by Kouyou, Hirostu and a bit by Kajii at the moment.
He didn't want to be there.
Maybe it's the way he could feel several pairs of eyes on him, but especially the Mackerels and the Boss'.
Sadly, that means Kouyou quickly dragged him to go talk to others.
~
Now Dazai was very focused on Chuuya, both because he was currently ignoring the fact that Akutagawa was practically rambling to him.
Dazai ignored the boy of course.
He could feel the eyes of Mori on him every so often.
Yosano asked if he had wanted to leave the place or get drunk so they didn't have to deal with it.
Sadly, that wasn't an option.
See, Dazai wasn't completely oblivious. He knew something was wrong with this party.
There was tension.
And not just because the Port Mafia and Agency were together.
There was tension IN the Port Mafia.
Dazai noticed it with that odd stray dog looking guy first, Tachihara. The guy seemed so tense around the people.
Dazai noticed him glancing at Chuuya and whispering to Hirotsu.
Clearly something was wrong.
Mainly because it didn't look like the usual gossip either, it seemed urgent.
Hirotsu seemed to glance as well, but didn't let any sort of emotion show.
Then it happened within the Port Mafia.
Kouyou and Chuuya traveling. Talking with others. It seemed Tanzaki got trapped in talking with them.
Yet he noticed it, when Mori seemed to walk over.
Chuuya tensed. A bit more than usual.
He didn't move his eyes either.
Staying completely still for a moment.
Until they all started talking again.
Chuuya didn't look calm, but he seemed to at least not to be completely still. Leaning more into Kouyou as the conversation.
Something was going on between Chuuya and Mori.
Really he should've expected that.
During his time in the mafia, Dazai had been trying to distract Mori from Chuuya ever since the whole Verlaine incident.
Though Dazai knew he couldn't do it forever.
Especially as their partnership was established more and they were considered a powerhouse by Mori.
Of course he'd start getting more interested in the more new members of the Port Mafia. Especially if they were as strong as Chuuya was.
The other issue with Chuuya right now, was the fact that he had barely reacted to Dazais presence.
Usually the moment they even saw each other, Chuuya would be seething. Saying they should leave.
He could blame the fact that Chuuya wasn't yelling at his face right now to the fact that most likely Chuuya knew he'd be here.
That, didn't sound really believable though.
~
It all happened at once, Chuuya felt the small touch on his shoulder. He tensed and then he could see Mori from the corners of his eyes looking at him. Then he heard that voice. It felt in sinc with the other voice in his mind. Chuuya shook.
This is when he felt a different touch and heard a softer sweeter voice by him,
"Chuuya, are you okay?"
The voice of Kouyou no doubt. She seemed more worried.
Tachihara seemed to give her a look, tried to signal something it seemed.
Sadly, this wasn't recognized by Kouyou.
Chuuya was out of it.
Suddenly going still and completely unresponsive as it seemed Mori glanced at him again. Humming a tune.
That voice, his mind felt clouded because he could feel Kouyou leaning to him and trying to talk and yet he heard nothing, but the voices of Arahabaki around him.
Suddenly there was two new faces.
~
Dazai had walked over to the little group, followed by Yosano.
Dazai asked if she could come and see if she could figure out what was happening with Chuuya, despite her seeming to not want to even go near that area.
She said she would though.
They had both stayed more near Kouyous side of things than anything else.
Dazai had simply observed the people around.
Not many others seem to have noticed.
Well, more like they had, but it seemed the odd behavior was dismissed.
Dazai watched Chuuya.
Chuuya had been stilled, beside his eyes that seemed to be shaking and panicked.
Yosano leaned over to him,
"He's about to snap. I don't think he can really hear anyone. He doesn't seem angry though.."
Dazai nodded.
Knowing what was wrong, Dazai sighed dramatically.
And with eyes on him, only smirked a bit.
"I'm going to steal my dog for now okay? Bye bye~!"
And Dazai suddenly grabbed Chuuya who seemed very panicked at being moved. Dazai gave a small look to Fukuzawa, who seemed to catch onto this.
Something was wrong with Chuuya.
Fukuzawa simply nodded and went on with the conversation, trying to distract everyone else. Though Tachihara seemed to give Dazai a knowing look.
Dazai nodded this time in return and took Chuuya away from everyone else.
Chuuya seemed to simply comply with this.
Dazai sighed at this, Chuuyas in deep.
Snapping his fingers in front of Chuuyas face and seemed to get some attention to him.
"Chuuya, what's going on in that little dog brain in there?"
Chuuya stayed completely silent for a moment. Seeming to try his best to focus.
"I can't fucking.. the voices..."
Dazai nodded slowly.
"Are they loud today?"
Chuuya nodded a bit.
Dazai glanced away to Mori for a moment. Catching Mori's eye.
And he looked away.
"Dazai."
"Yes?"
"It's so loud. They won't shut up."
Dazai never liked these hallucinations. Mainly because of the part where Chuuya tended to freak out by them.
"You want me to try and silence them?"
Chuuya already looked defeated, but nodded anyway. Just for the small chance the voices would stop.
Dazai nodded a bit as well, before taking Chuuyas head and bringing the gingers head to his. Covering one of his ears and letting Chuuya listen to his heartbeat.
It was odd, but Dazai figured out that it somehow seemed to calm Chuuya down.
They stayed like that for awhile. Or at least a moment. Before suddenly it seemed Chuuya entirely freaked out.
Pushing Dazai away and immediately his ability activated and seemed to try and protect him, though only succeeded in starting to float the things around him.
This only succeeded in getting the attention of Fukuzawa and Mori and just about anyone else noticing the gravity in the room was much lighter.
Mori seemed more interested in seeing what was happening with Chuuya, not fix it. Just be there to witness this panic.
While Fukuzawa went immediately to Dazai.
"What happened?"
"Freak out, usually these aren't that bad, but I they seem to have gotten worse."
"Do we know how to control it?"
"Not entirely,"
Dazai glanced back at Fukuzawa.
"Can we get people away from this area for a bit?"
Fukuzawa gave a small nod. And went to move people nearby. Letting Dazai handle Chuuya for the moment.
Dazai held onto Chuuya, activating his own ability to try and stop the redhead from causing anymore damage around the area. Though as soon as this happened, Mori came closer. Looking over the two. Watching his own work unravel of course. Dazai tried to ignore the cold feeling of Mori watching.
"Chuuya, have the voices gone down yet?"
"A bit..."
"Good."
It was a whisper of a conversation.
Then, Mori finally decided now would be his time to strike.
Moving closer, Dazai could see the hand placed on Chuuya.
"Let me."
Luckily enough, Fukuzawa came back. Placing his sword right near the mans neck.
"Step away from them."
Mori glanced to Fukuzawa. A moment. A certain look before he did in fact back away seeming to decide that there was to be no fighting at the moment.
"Is he getting better?"
Chuuya gave a small nod.
Fukuzawa looked to him now.
"Do you know what set off... the voices?"
Fukuzawa almost sounded confused about it, but gave a small nod trying to keep this professional.
Chuuya moved.
Fukuzawa tensed.
Dazai immediately caught onto what he was doing.
Chuuya leaned onto Dazai, covering his own eyes. Getting Dazais ability closer to where it needed to be.
The shorter man breathed trying to calm, to think without the voices.
"The Boss."
Chuuya would never call him Mori. Especially with the man here.
Even if right now, Mori was moved away far enough so he wouldn't be heard.
"What did he do?"
This time it was Dazai.
Of course, he knew Mori did something. Chuuya acted differently, especially with Mori around him. Dazai always knew that Chuuya seemed somewhat tense around him, but he usually calmed down at some point.
"Theres a specific voice he learned. A tone? I don't know, but when he does it..."
"It makes the voices worse."
Dazai sighed as Chuuya only nodded.
Fukuzawa looked between them for a moment.
"Nakahara, would you like to rest at the Agency?"
Chuuya moved to look at him, seeming to try and figure out if he was being serious. Before slowly nodding.
Dazai nodded, and slowly got up. Picking up Chuuya and carrying him away.
Fukuzawa glanced at Mori for a moment again. Before slowly moving to Yosano, explaining the situation in which she left to follow after the pair.
