Chapter 1: Flirty Banter - Sera x Taliesen

Summary:

Some really bad romance novel reading.
Plus “whimsical somethings of whatevers”

Chapter Text

“She is a mortal danger to all men. She is beautiful without knowing it, and possesses charms that she’s not even aware of.”

Sera spoke slowly, making sure to annunciate her words for proper effect.

“You’re dead set on doing this for me?” Tali sits on top of her bed, a breakfast platter next to her. Possibly cooked by Cabot at the tavern.

“Shush. Don’t ruin the show,” Sera rasps before returning to her lines and her pacing in front of the bed.

“She is like a trap set by nature - a sweet perfumed rose in whose petals Cupid lurks in ambush! Anyone who has seen her smile has known perfection. She instills grace in every common thing and divinity in every careless gesture.”

Sera had a boastful voice, one to match the dialogue she was repeating. She lifts her lover’s hand off the bed and presses a soft kiss on top. “That’s from one of Cassandra’s novels.”

“I never figured you to be the romantic type,” Taliesen remarks, she watched as Sera danced loops around her, the only response was a finger over her lips to signal silence. Crossing her arms, she had a joyful smirk as she leaned closer, “and those words. I never expected something so eloquent coming from a mouth like yours.”

“Who thought the elfy elf would know things?” Sera raised a brow, “did those trees suddenly speak when you walk on them without shoes?”

“Just that you’re not the type to read them,” Tali boops Sera’s nose, a grin on her. “Too patchwork of a person to care for them.”

Sera was tinglish as she got on one knee, she regrets not having a rose prepared for such an act. Her expression was holding back a giggle nonetheless as she pressed her journal to her heart.

She attempts a husky voice, “but my dear Inquisitor Herald. It’s improper to judge a lady’s character based on their lot in life.”

There was but a single blink exchanged from Tali to Sera before the two elves could no longer hold in their laughter. The laughter felt like it went on for minutes.

“Blech,” Sera slam closed her journal, “words was whimsical withitness of whatevers. There. Got your w’s. It’s a poem now.”

“Really,” Tali learned even closer, “and those words make sense to you? To anyone?” Fanning her hands in sync with the syllables, “whimsical somethings of whatevers?”

“Well. It’s not going to sound right if you’re going to say it wrong,” Sera hums. She shivers, finally able to shake off the embarrassment of performing the whole act.

“I’ll take your word on that,” she pursed her lips and wiggle up her brows. “Still not sure why you did it,” crossing her arms, “neither of us read any of those things…”

“Plenty of embarrassment to be had at other times. That wasn’t it,” the need for laughter had dissipated from Sera. She rushes to wrap her lover in a tight hug, inches from her face.

“Told you before, I wanted to make you the happiest woman ever. Fought hard enough as is to deserve that, now it’s put into words.”

The hug was a surprise to Tali but she embraced all of it. Never after everything she fought had she expected something so warm and welcoming, the world had taken so much from her and yet finally she had unconditional comfort in her partner.

With a smile, “you still didn’t need to go through all that trouble but it’s appreciated.”
