Chapter Text
Team wasn't moping. Just because he had been sighing over his lunch and wishing he had a bag of Lays instead.
"You're moping," Manaow said. "It's okay, so is Pharm."
"Manaow, you just spent ten minutes talking about how you felt like you were forgetting the colour of P'Pruk's eyes because you hadn't seen him for so long," Pharm said.
"They're brown," Team pointed out.
"I know that!" Manaow rolled her eyes. It looked like she had given extra time to her make-up today but she still looked paler than normal. Team knew better than to point it out, he didn't want to have to deal with Manaow fretting over her appearance in the mirror for the rest of lunch. "But I haven't seen him for longer than a cup of coffee in two weeks now. I know they're in the middle of exams but I don't think the teachers know how important our relationship is." That made Pharm and Team laugh.
"It doesn't help that the three of them have the competition right at the end of exam time," Pharm said. "P'Dean normally handles it well but I think having the exams with the competition is making him stressed. He hasn't come over for nearly a week."
"What about you, Team? P'Win lives near you and you're on the team together. Have you been seeing him more often?"
Team was sure Manaow didn't mean it like that but he felt his shoulders hunch up a little. Win should be able to see him more often than Dean and Pruk, but now he heard the other two, he realised that Win had actually seen him less.
"Not really," he admitted. "Hia Win has exams and the swimming team but he also does tutoring and is doing some work for his family business as well. We see each other at practice and he sleeps over but he has to leave early from practice and he's coming home late all the time. I don't like waking him up in the morning even when I do leave earlier than him because he looks so exhausted. I don't think we've said more than two words to each other that isn't about my time and the swimming competition."
Pharm's hand on his shoulder told him that his friends had seen his feelings maybe too well. Team wondered if they could see how little sleep he had gotten over the last week. His nightmares had returned and Win being there had helped him to settle but he hadn't wanted to wake him up so he would lie awake and listen to Win's breathing in the dark.
Manaow suddenly clapped her hands. Pharm and Team jumped. "Okay, we're all sad and missing our boyfriends. We can't be all demanding because we want them to be brilliant and do their very best." Team and Pharm both nodded, though it wasn't really a question. "So, we have to support them and try to keep ourselves occupied so they're not distracted by feeling guilty."
Team nodded again. He hadn't thought about that but Win would feel guilty if he knew how much Team missed him and how it was starting to affect his sleep.
"I could do some cooking for the swim team," Pharm said. "If P'Dean thinks I'm doing this just for him, he would feel like he should be making time for me. But if I do it for the team, P'Win and P'Pruk can get something as well."
Manaow pointed at him. "Food is good. I like that idea. I'll be in charge of presentation so we can add our personal touches to the boxes."
Team worried about that because he wasn't romantic or creative but it was a good idea and Win deserved it. "We can't help with the work," Team said. Even if they were in the same year, he didn't think he would ever reach Win's level of brilliance.
"I know P'Win tutors you, Team," Pharm said. "How are you coping with it at the moment?"
Team felt the back of his neck grow warm and he ducked his head. He knew he struggled more with schoolwork than Pharm and Manaow but it was still really embarrassing to be reminded of it. Especially since without Win's help with getting through his homework, he was falling behind with his own assignments.
"I told Hia I was fine without him during exam time," Team replied. These were his friends. It had taken them a year but Team had started to realise that what he couldn't tell Win, because he didn't want to worry his boyfriend or he thought it was too stupid to bother him with, he could tell his friends. "I think I'm struggling though. One of my teachers hates me and he gave me another essay to do after he said I wasn't paying attention in his lecture." Team scowled at the memory. He had panicked a little at the essay, knowing that without Win he was starting to struggle to keep on top of everything.
"And you were already finding it hard before that," Pharm said shrewdly. Team made a face but didn't disagree.
"Hia helped me stay on top of everything. He's good at tutoring, he manages to explain things in a way that make sense." It was why everyone wanted Win to tutor them now. And Win was far too nice, if someone was desperate enough he would say yes even if he didn't have the time or energy. When Team had saw Win was struggling to manage, he had told Win that he could manage without his tutoring during the exam time. Never mind that Team lost out on that time with Win that he desperately wanted, it had meant Win was able to get more sleep.
"P'Win is very good at that," Pharm said. He had accompanied Team to one of the tutoring sessions and he had been full of praise for Win afterwards.
"He is and everyone knows that," Team moaned.
"You know, if your boyfriend wasn't so nice and approachable, people wouldn't go to him for tutoring so much," Manaow teased. Team shook his head but he felt a little lighter at being able to talk about this with his friends.
"But I can't tell Win anything about it because he'll try to fit everything in and probably lose sleep because of it."
Pharm sighed. "I normally would suggest that you talk to P'Win, but I think you're right. Waiting until after the exams are done is the only way."
"So, Pharm will do some food for the team. We'll all meet up to get some of our own work done and that will make sure when they're done, we're free to help them enjoy the rest." Manaow wiggled her eyebrows so neither of them could mistake what she meant.
"Manaow!" Pharm said as he laughed and Team groaned, but he couldn't help smiling. He was right, telling his friends had helped.
That night, Team woke up from a dream he didn't remember. The sense of dread and panic that followed him out of the dream, making his heart pound and his palms sweat, didn't disappear. Win was asleep next to him. Normally Win slept lightly enough that when Team moved, he would wake and either pull Team closer or start a conversation. But, thanks to everything that was going on, Win had been so exhausted that he slept deeply through Team's nightmares and even him getting up in the morning.
Team turned on his side and looked at the silhouette of Win in the room. He hadn't moved throughout Team shuffling around and his breathing stayed deep and even. He listened to Win's breathing as his heart settled down, but he remained wide awake.
"Hia." The word slipped out before he could stop it and he froze in place. Win carried on sleeping, his breathing not changing at all. Team wanted to bite his tongue. Manaow, Pharm and him just had a conversation about not distracting the seniors during the stressful time and there was Team going ahead and trying to wake his boyfriend up.
He slipped out of bed as gently as possible, slipping one of his pillows next to Win so he didn't notice the cold bed. He grabbed his phone, shoes and a jacket before heading out of the room. Win was staying in Team's room and going into Win's room when he wasn't there still felt a little weird to Team, so he headed downstairs instead. It had started to rain, the water creating a white noise effect, and Team tucked himself into a corner of the lobby as he stared at the water coming down outside. He had been planning on going for a walk so the rain, while soothing, stopped his plans in their tracks.
Team clutched his phone and stared at the front door. He should return upstairs. If Win woke up, he would be worried if Team wasn't there. But the thought of lying next to Win and knowing he was right there, but feeling like he was miles away, was not something that would help. Win would fix it if he told him, Team knew that, but that would only make Win feel guilty and stressed as he tried to fit everything in. Team loved Win, he didn't want to make things harder. It was only two weeks, Team could last until then.
He looked at his phone and then sent a message to the group chat. To his surprise, Pharm was awake and suffering under the same problem as he was. Namely, he had a nightmare which he would normally call Dean for but he didn't want to stress his boyfriend out or disturb his precious sleep.
I feel selfish, despite knowing he would want me to call him if I was having trouble, Pharm admitted. If it were any other time but right now, I would.
But you don't want to add to their stress, Team added. I know the feeling. Hia is so tired, he needs sleep.
Two weeks, Team. We can do it!
Team smiled at his phone. He didn't feel like he could get to sleep, but he felt like he could go upstairs and lie next to Win without having the irresistible urge to wake him up.
I'm going to try and sleep again. Meet up for lunch tomorrow?
Definitely. Bring your English homework, we'll try to get some of it done.
Team groaned but he knew Pharm was right. English was Team's worst subject, one which Win was very good at, and the homework was starting to pile up. It wasn't helped by how the more stressed Team got, the more he had a block on the actual language.
Maybe some Thai desserts will help my brain.
Pharm sent him a laughing sticker but Team knew Pharm well enough that he knew what that meant. He grinned and slipped back into the lift. When he got back to the room, Win was still fast asleep and Team felt a little better. He would feel a lot better when Win's exams was all over.
The next day, Team joined Pharm for lunch. He had a splitting headache after not getting back to sleep the night before. To make matters worse, his time had been bad in practice and Win got that worried crease in his forehead and Dean had looked stressed. Team felt almost sick with guilt and when Pharm asked how he was, it all came out.
Pharm listened patiently and without judgement because that was what he did.
"...and I know P'Dean and Hia won't like me feeling guilty about it, so don't even bother telling me that. I just - Manaow was right. They all have a lot going on and I feel like the more I try not to make things worse, the more I fail."
"Team, you're not making things worse," Pharm said. "P'Win is probably missing you and that's why he looked like that. And P'Dean picks up on P'Win's moods very easily, while also missing me." Pharm shrugged a little but Team could see how he was holding himself carefully.
"I hate this," Team said, dropping his gaze to his textbook. The English words swam in front of his eyes and Team shook his head in order to clear his gaze. He was used to running on very little sleep, he had problems with insomnia for years, but the exhaustion was combining with the stress and making everything seem ten times worse. Not to mention, his usual ways of stress relief all involved Win and he couldn't have him. It showed that Team was far too dependent on Win. "I feel so clingy. He misses me, yeah, but he's handling it fine. And I just fall apart." Team rubbed his head again.
"You're not falling apart," Pharm said firmly. "And P'Win is very good at hiding what he actually feels. You've barely seen him so how do you know he's handling it well?"
Team really was a horrible person when that thought actually made him feel better. "Even so, we can't do anything about it until the exams are over." He flipped a page of his textbook. "Come on, we had better try and get some of this done."
Pharm let the subject drop. Maybe he was as fed up of the whole situation as Team was. They struggled through the rest of the chapter of the book, bolstered by Pharm's desserts. At the end of the lunch hour, Team had his English homework cut down from breakdown-inducing amounts to merely stressful amounts. He also felt faintly sick from eating nothing but sweets and his headache was so bad that he was starting to see spots in front of his eyes.
He wished he could go back to his room and nap but he had the teacher who hated him next and Team really didn't want to add to his workload. He said goodbye to Pharm and headed over to the right classroom.
An hour later, Team was waiting for Pharm and wishing he had just skipped the entire lesson. He stood up when he noticed Pharm's car, only for Manaow to come bounding out of the passenger side door.
"Team! What happened? I thought you had your lesson for another hour."
"I'll explain in the car," Team said. His head still hurt and Manaow's voice wasn't helping. He got into the back of the car, hoping to be able to lie down, and was immediately greeted by the worried faces of Manaow and Pharm looking at him from the front.
"You smell of puke," Manaow stated.
Team grimaced and looked down at himself. He thought he didn't get any on him. Manaow offered him a packet of mints and instead of taking one, he took four and crunched them all in his mouth at the same time. It got rid of the taste.
"I threw up on the teacher," Team said.
"No!" Manaow's eyes had gone as round as coins. She looked a little awed and gleefully horrified. "That teacher who doesn't like you?"
"Oh no! I hope it wasn't the desserts," Pharm fretted.
"It wasn't the desserts," Team said because that was important enough to address first. "This happens sometimes when I haven't slept for a while." Then he turned to look at Manaow. "Yeah, the teacher who hates me."
"Well, that's something at least," Manaow said. Team cracked a smile, though it felt stiff on his face.
"I don't think he's going to like me much more after today," he said and both he and Manaow laughed. Pharm even smiled a little and shook his head at the both of them. He finally turned away and started the car.
"So I'm guessing we're not telling P'Win," Manaow said as Pharm started to drive.
"Definitely not," Team said firmly. "He'll ask me why and I would tell him that it's because I haven't slept enough. Then he'll start worrying about why that is since normally I can sleep enough when we share a bed. And then I'll have to tell him that he's been sleeping so deeply that he hasn't woken up whenever I've woken up and I didn't want to wake him up. Then he'll feel guilty and stressed enough that he won't be able to sleep at all because he'll worry about not waking up. And that is exactly what I'm trying to avoid." Team took a breath. There was a stunned silence in the car when he finished.
"Wow," Manaow said. "So you and P'Win normally share a bed?"
"Manaow!" Team and Pharm both shouted.
"Right, right, not the point. But after things are back to normal, we shall be revisiting that." She took out a pen and paper from her bag. "Would it be easier if you and P'Win don't share a bed?" Manaow asked. "I'm sure making sure he gets good sleep is making your own sleep worse."
Team thought so too but he was very reluctant to give up his nights with Win. It was the only time he saw him at the moment and Team missed him a ridiculous amount.
"I can't," Team said, his voice breaking in a really embarrassing way. Thankfully, both his friends didn't comment on it at all.
"Right," Manaow said, moving on. "So Del and I were figuring out ways of managing the situation. Well, first she laughed at us for missing our boyfriends so much that we couldn't manage a few weeks without them. But her boyfriend is P'Alex, so enough said."
Manaow's low-key hatred for Alex made Team smile. She said she supported Del and her relationship because it was what Del wanted, but that didn't mean she automatically liked Alex. Team could only agree.
"Manaow," Pharm protested but it was half-hearted at best. He obviously knew Dean was better than Alex, otherwise he wouldn't have picked Dean.
"With P'Pruk, I'm going to set up a coffee slash study date. That way I get to see him and he can get some studying done without feeling guilty about not giving me attention. With P'Dean, we're doing food and maybe a cute little love note with his box." Manaow leaned over and pinched Pharm's cheek lightly. "With P'Win, we were thinking that we could find out who he was tutoring and see if we can redirect them. Just for exam time! We can remind them that P'Win has his own studying to do and maybe they could get their tutoring as a group, rather than one at a time."
For a few moments, Team let himself imagine it. Being able to see Win awake for once, tell him about his day. Maybe watch a film together and talk shit about Dean's face when he saw Pharm's lunchbox.
"No, we can't do that," Team heard himself say.
"What? Why not?" Manaow asked.
"Hia's my boyfriend. Me going behind his back to warn people off from spending time with him will get back to him eventually and definitely isn't going to help lower his stress levels." Team would prefer to talk to Win directly, and that was the last thing he wanted to do.
There was a few moments of quiet.
"He has a point," Pharm said reluctantly and Manaow let out a grumble.
"But Team, it's making you ill. Not sleeping I mean. And if P'Win is so stressed that he's sleeping so deeply that he doesn't wake up even when you keep getting in and out of bed, then this can only makes things better."
Team was tempted but the thought of having to explain this to Win made his tongue start to curl. "No, Manaow. We'll think of something else." He wasn't going to risk his relationship with Win for anything.
He should have explained himself more, should have made Manaow and Pharm see that he was okay. That day was just a bad day and they didn't need to worry about his health like that. When he saw Win was sitting in his room when he came in that evening, Team felt a giant leap of hope. He shrugged off his shoes and dumped his backpack on top of them.
"Hia, you're finished early." Team felt happier than he had in weeks. He had missed Win so much but more than he missed the physical stuff, the comfort after waking up from a nightmare, he missed the talking. The conversations they would have and the way Win would laugh when Team said something sarcastic.
"Yeah, funny how that happens." Win stood up, his face set in an expression Team had never seen directed at him before. Hurt, confusion, and an awful lot of anger.
"Hia?" he asked. The happiness was draining out of him. It felt like his limbs were growing heavier as something cold settled inside his stomach.
"What right did you have to try and organise my life like that?" Win asked. His voice was no longer level and cool, rather wild and uncontrolled. "Behind my back?"
"W-What?" Team asked.
"You don't get to tell me who I can and cannot tutor. And you definitely can't go behind my back and try to warn them off. What the fuck, Team?"
Oh no. Team opened his mouth but the words got caught up in his throat. The only ones that came to his mind were ones that sounded like an attack, like he was laying blame at Win's feet for being busy. Better to have Win be angry at him for this than to hurt him like that.
"Tell me something, Team," Win said desperately. "Come on, I've barely seen you for the past three weeks and then one of my classmates comes to tell me that my boyfriend is warning people away from me. For fuck's sake, the stuff you were telling people made it sound like I was on the verge of a breakdown."
"Hia," Team said. He was sure that whatever Manaow and Pharm had been trying to accomplish, he was certain they would never imply anything like that about Win.
"I'm doing fine, Team," Win said, confirming all of Team's suspicions that he needed Win a lot more than Win needed him. "But having you going around and trying to sabotage me behind my back isn't helping anything. I'm working so hard, Team, and I just need some support."
That was so unfair that Team's mouth kicked into gear.
"I am, Hia!"
"No, Team. What you did wasn't helping anything." Win didn't seem angry now, just tired. "I'm going to sleep in my room for now. I can't deal with this right now. After next weekend, then we'll talk."
And Win left the room. Team stared at the door for thirty seconds before walking over to the bed and sitting down. Every movement was mechanical, Team barely noticed his own body. He didn't know what he was supposed to feel. Had Win just broken up with him? What was Team supposed to do now?
He probably should summon up some anger for Manaow and Pharm, good intentions or not, but all he could feel was a sense of bewilderment. The end of Win's exams had turned into a deadline on their relationship, rather than a welcome relief, and it had happened within about ten minutes.
Team shivered and realised he was crying. That made sense, except for the fact he still felt cut off as to why. The anger, the sadness, the hurt, it was all staring at him from a distance waiting for him to break.
I can't deal with this.
Team sobbed and clamped a hand over his mouth. Win was only one floor up, right above Team. Team had to be quiet, Win couldn't deal with him right now. Win had to concentrate on his exams, he didn't have time for Team until after next weekend. When he would break up with Team.
He stood up and walked to the bathroom. A shower was a good idea. He had to remember that a shower wasn't as loud as he thought so any noises he might make could be heard by Win upstairs. But the sound of a shower by itself was normal. Maybe afterwards he could go for a walk and talk with Pharm and Manaow -- no. He didn't want to cry in front of people. He would send them a message and make sure they knew not to ask him what was going on.
Win would be terribly nice when he broke up with Team. He would tell Team that it wasn't all his fault, it's just that they were incompatible as a couple. He would say that he hoped they could remain friends. Team would agree because it would hurt, but as he had seen in the last few weeks, he wasn't very good at being without Win. Then he would get to see Win fall in love with someone bright and beautiful, someone just like him.
Team plunged himself into the shower before it warmed up properly, the cold hitting him like a wall and draining all other thoughts out of his head. He gasped and then went further under the spray, seeking the blankness that came with physical discomfort. He went through the motions of a normal shower, focusing hard on the next step of the routine rather than anything that had happened beforehand. This method carried him through the shower and afterwards, until Team was left with clean hair and clean clothes, sitting on the edge of the bed again.
Out of lack of any ideas, he checked his phone. Apparently he had sent the group he had with Pharm and Manaow a message before he went into the shower.
Win found out about you guys persuading people to stop asking for tutoring. He's angry and upset and gone back to his room. Team admired his past self for the ability to give all the facts without clouding it with emotions. Pharm and Manaow had sent back apologies and protests, saying that they would talk to Win and say it was all their fault. Team hastened to reply.
NO. Hia doesn't want any more stress until after his exams are done. He said he would talk about it after next weekend so I'm not going to bother him until then. And I don't want you guys bothering him either. So no going to P'Dean or P'Pruk about this.
There were a few moments as Pharm and Manaow read and absorbed this.
We're sorry, Team. We meant to make things better not worse. Pharm's sincerity bled through the text.
I know, he replied. It'll get sorted out in a few days. Don't worry.
Do you want us to come over? Manaow asked.
No, it's fine. I think I'm going to to go to bed early.
Meet for breakfast tomorrow? Team could almost hear the tone of voice Manaow would use in real life. His lips quirked but he didn't have it in him for a smile. He sent back an agreement and plugged his phone into his charger. It had only just gone dark but Team went over to his cupboard, pulled out the bag he used when he was travelling home for a while, and fished out a pill bottle. He hadn't had to use his prescription when he was at uni since the odd bad night of sleep here and there didn't warrant the pills and dealing with the side effects. But he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if he didn't take them and his lessons didn't start until the afternoon.
He could handle it.
The next day, Team was lying on the floor of his shower after having stumbled over the edge and cursing his past self. He always forgot just how crap the side effects of his meds were.
Team pulled himself up, using the shower wall to keep himself steady. He felt almost continuously dizzy, even over twelve hours after taking the pills. They had done their job, he had slept from about seven last night to when his alarm woke him up this morning. Of course, Team didn't feel rested or well in himself, but his head was a little clearer and he felt a little less on the verge of tears the whole time. Which was good because he had to go to swimming practice tonight and see Win and it would be great if he could manage not to embarrass himself in front of him.
"What happened to you?" Manaow asked when he turned up at the cafe for breakfast.
"What do you mean? I slept great, everything's fine." Team shoved his hands in his pockets. Manaow's eyebrows raised and Pharm gestured to Team's temple.
"You have a mark," he said quietly.
"What?" Team accepted the hand mirror Manaow handed to him. Across his right temple, there was a red mark stretching from his eyebrow to his hairline. It was bound to turn into one of those ugly purple bruises that people couldn't help but look at. "Shit."
"So what happened?" Manaow asked. She pulled out a make up brush and a compact, this one of powder, before starting to brush it over Team's head.
"I'm going swimming later so you might as well not bother." Team closed the little mirror with a snap, annoyed with himself. "The meds make me dizzy. I slipped in the shower and hit my head on the edge."
"Should you be going swimming with a head injury?" Pharm asked in a worried tone.
"What meds?" Manaow asked. She was one of the nosiest people Team had ever met in his life and he told her so. She made an offended noise.
"It's not a head injury," he said to Pharm. "I'm fine, I just bruise easily."
"But you've been really shaky since you came in," Pharm said.
"It's the meds," he said again. "Sleeping meds. I don't like taking them because I have side effects the next day."
Manaow snapped her fingers. "That's why you didn't reply to the photo of you I photoshopped."
"What photo?" Team scrambled for his phone.
"Should you be swimming if you're still having side effects to do with these meds?" Pharm asked, getting Team's attention by pushing his phone down.
"Yeah, practice isn't until the afternoon. It's why I took the pills so early last night." Team lifted his phone again, only to see there was no photo. "Manaow!" he whined.
Team had breakfast with his friends where neither of them asked about what happened with Win. Maybe they were feeling guilty, maybe they knew there was no amount of sleep in the world that would make Team happy to talk about what happened last night, or maybe they knew that Team just needed a distraction. Just once.
He stumbled on the steps to the library and rolled his eyes at himself. He was still feeling dizzy and unsteady, but it was getting better by the minute. The actual effects of the pills lasted him a full twenty-four hours, thanks to the strong dose he had. Without that strong dose though, Team didn't sleep but would just feel extremely tired all the next day.
He wandered through the library, looking for the Economics book Pharm had recommended. He would blame it on the tiredness as to why, when he heard Win's voice, he walked towards it rather than away. Then he heard his name and froze.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Win said with a laugh. "Team was just worrying over nothing."
"I don't know, Ai'Win. A boyfriend sends his friends around to tell people to stay away from you, are you sure he wasn't just jealous?" The female voice was slippery, there was no other word for it, and Team instantly disliked the owner.
"No," Win said firmly. "Team was worried and he misunderstood the best way to help. That's all."
"If you say so. Though this is why I don't date anyone so inexperienced. If you're someone's first relationship, then they get all clingy and possessive. So unattractive," the voice said again.
Team took a step back, his whole body shaking. Please, tell her she's wrong. Hia, tell her that isn't true.
"Get back to studying," Win said, his voice cold. "If you don't need tutoring, then stop wasting my time."
Team turned on his heel and left, careful to slip through the stacks so he couldn't be seen by Win at all. He bumped into at least two people when he left the library and shouted apologies over his shoulder as he did so. It felt like his vision had turned inwards.
Win hadn't disagreed. He had gotten annoyed at the gossiping but he hadn't said Team wasn't clingy and possessive. He hadn't said experience didn't matter, not really, and it was up to the people involved to make it work. He had defended Team the first time when they were saying he was jealous, but he hadn't defended Team the second time. Did that mean he thought the accusation was true? Or maybe he was beginning to think it was true after everything that had happened this week.
Team stumbled back after almost tripping over a small child. He bowed an apology to the mother, who waved him off. As he raised his head, her expression turned from polite forgiveness to utmost horror.
"Look out!" Team turned to look. There was a flash of black and then everything was spinning and painful.
Team was on the floor and wasn't quite sure how he got there. A child was screaming and people were chattering all around him. His leg really hurt and his whole body ached. He wanted to sleep and he wanted Win. Nothingness was calling to him and it was easier to give in rather than fight. People kept trying to pull him back, asking him his name and how old he was, but Team fought to go back to sleep. There was a sharp prick to his arm and Team tried to pull away from it. A kind voice soothed him but it still wasn't the voice he wanted to hear, so he drifted away.
Everything was a mess of pain and exhaustion at the hospital. Team remembered Pharm being there and telling him not to call Win, but otherwise it was all just a blur of faces and names. Then Pharm was putting him into a wheelchair and pushing him out of the hospital doors.
"What just happened?" Team asked.
"You got hit by a bike," Pharm replied, his tone calm. "You dislocated your knee, cut up your leg and gave yourself another head injury. If you don't want me to call P'Win, you're coming home with me."
"Oh." Team had a lot more questions but his brain couldn't focus on any particular one right now. "Would you cook for me?"
"Of course." He could hear the smile in Pharm's voice.
"I want to see Hia but I don't want to bother him," Team said and Pharm made a noise which could be agreement or something else. He knew Pharm had opinions about what Team had just said but since Team didn't ask, Pharm didn't say. Team just wanted him to know that he wanted to see Win, he just didn't think Win would want to see him. Team didn't want to cause any more trouble than he already had. All he needed now was food and sleep.
