Work Text:
Jack was just about to leave the Jacobs house after dinner, but Davey stopped him.
“Hey, where are you going? Why don’t you stay the night?” Davey asked, his hand on Jack’s shoulder.
“Oh, I really shouldn’t.” Jack responded, still processing that some people actually had families.
“It’d be no trouble, if that’s the reason. We could set up a bed on the floor, you could take mine.”
“Wait, what?”
“Y’know, you might not have that good of a bed, so…”
“Dave, I’m not taking your bed. If I’m staying, I’ll take the floor.”
Davey pulled Jack inside. “You’re staying, and you’re taking the bed.” Jack sighed, deciding not to argue.
Jack sat up, unable to sleep despite the, admittedly, comfortable bed.
“Hey Dave…” he said, looking to the floor where Davey lay.
“Yeah, Cowboy? Need something?” Davey said, rolling over.
“Could you get up here for a moment?”
“Sure.” Davey got up, sitting on the bed. Jack pulled him down so they lay next to each other.
“If you insist I take the bed, we share.” Jack said, pulling the blanket over the both of them. Davey sighed and rolled his eyes, though both of them knew he didn’t really mind. Neither of them did.
And neither of them particularly cared how Esther was going to feel when she came in to see them both huddle together within each other’s embrace.
