Work Text:

Getting the elevator to himself was easy. No one wanted to be trapped in a small space with someone... weird. Someone dancing and loudly singing to songs that only they could hear through their headphones. What Jensen hadn't envisaged was the elevator doors opening while he was naked from the waist down during his quick change. Fortunately he had nothing to be ashamed of down there, according to a very appreciative Cougar.

His original idea for how he was going to gain access to the Head of Security's computer changed immediately. He made a quick call to lure Anderson from his office altogether, and even held the door open for the guy, slipping through with a practiced air. Jensen was their tech guy but he was also a quick thinker when it came to blending in, knowing how to hold himself to make him look like he belonged. With an air of techie dorkiness, he used his intelligence and charm to smooth his way past the secretary, and 30 seconds later he had what they needed; the algorithms from Goliath's main system so he could break the encryption on the hard drive.

Of course that dress remark was one comment too many, and perhaps Skippy was not the best name he could have chosen either, because who else would have called in Security but the secretary. Abandoning all pretense of belonging, he ran, keeping the panic under control as he hoped Clay had a extraction Plan B because Plan A was dust. Clay told him to circle around to the north side of the building, promising he would have cover, but it was only once he was cornered by the three guards in the elevator lobby that he noticed the set of windows at his back. Cover could have come in many forms but he knew beyond a shadow of doubt that Cougar was out there, that Cougar had his back, listening in on the comms but keeping radio silence to avoid having his position compromised.

It was fun playing with the security guards, aware Cougar would take his cues from him. All three guards wore Kevlar vests but a shot from a high powered sniper rifle would feel like a hard punch to the chest, and with two of them down the third gave up easily. He laughed, giving Cougar the okay, knowing Cougar would flick his hat in a 'You are welcome' gesture even if it was impossible to see from this distance. Jensen didn't stick around and was clear of the building within minutes.

Later, as they lay shoulder to shoulder propped up on the bed in one of the mobile homes at the quarry site, half watching some cheesy sitcom as they unwound from the day, Jensen pressed a kiss to Cougar's smiling lips. The smile widened as hands reached for him, turning them both as the kiss deepened. Jensen reached up and slowly pulled the hat from Cougar's head, placing it carefully on the beside cabinet. He was one of an elite list who could do so without losing his fingers in the process. The rest was lost to rising passion, to clothes discarded, and bodies moving together slow and deliberate. He laughed brightly in contrast to Cougar's quiet smile; brash and loud where Cougar spoke with his hands and eyes. Two opposites in so many ways, yet fitting together to make a perfect whole.

Afterwards, as heart beats slowed, still sweaty and messy, Jensen rested his head on Cougar's shoulder, and cradled in his love's confident arms he murmured, "Thanks for having my back out there today."

He felt Cougar's smile as a kiss was pressed to his hair.

"Always."
