Chapter Text
Things were still new. Aoki had been so happy since the moment Ida had said they should date. Since the moment his confession and even that stupid little mistake eraser had showed Aoki himself what he really felt. It was like he was free. That he was finally himself.
Life was suddenly more easy and he was no longer backtracking things that he thought he should be thinking. Of course he thought Ida was handsome, he was Aoki's boyfriend. Of course the other boy looked so cool while playing sports and of course Aoki's heart would flutter when Ida turned his attention to focus on Aoki. It just made sense. He'd even told his mom and she'd hugged him tightly and praised him for figuring it out so young.
He'd yet to tell Ida that he'd told his mom, but Aoki was ready to if it came up in conversation. What he hadn't been ready for was Ida asking what people do while dating. In his head it had been pretty obvious. Spending time together, and... kissing. Touching lips to lips and smiling at one another with half lidded eyes.
Aoki panicked and threw himself against the wall, trying not to squeal. It was to soon to think about Ida kissing him, right? He was sure his face was bright red. He trembled slightly and nearly jumped out of his skin when Ida grabbed a hold of him. Oh, he'd nearly forgotten that they had been talking!
In the position they were in, Aoki was certainly crowded against the wall. His heart beat fast. "I-Ida?!" He exclaimed mostly by accident. His heart wasn't ready for this! Not that he wouldn't mind having his first kiss, but this was pretty public and Ida was always so confusing.
Actually, he just decided he wasn't ready after all. If they touched lips he might just explode. It would be to much. The should start with something more simple. Like holding hands or even a cheek kiss? Yes, Aoki could picture kissing that cheek. Accept, would that really be alright? Ida had just asked a dating question so simple that even Aoki knew the answer to. Did the other boy mean that he wasn't sure what would go on between two boys? Or just in general?
He didn't really even know if Ida liked him or not. The other boy was kind (and handsome) and he gave Aoki the time of day way to often. It was both sweet and confusing! Aoki felt like he brain didn't work a lot and it had a hard time keeping up with Ida and his strange behaviors. He- god he just liked Ida so much.
"What are you thinking about?" Ida inquired, sounded genuinely curious. He was staring right at Aoki's red face, leaning close and pinning him in against the wall. Well, there was lots of space for Aoki to escape if he needed to, but he at least felt pinned in. Ida was more leaning over him then anything else, but they were still close enough that Aoki could feel Ida's breath on his face.
Aoki puffed up his cheeks menacingly and then darted forward those few extra inches between them. His lips brushed against the side of Ida cheek for about two seconds before he completely lost courage and had to back away. Or he would have backed away if he wasn't against the wall already. All he did right then was jolt back and smacked his head against the wall.
"Ow!" Came out of Aoki's mouth completely involuntarily. He rubbed at the spot on the back of his head and grimaced at the pain. Ida touched the spot on his own face where Aoki had just kissed. He looked a bit dazed. Maybe Aoki should have brained himself harder.
Ida blinked twice dumbly and then seemed to come back online. He reached for Aoki next. "Are you alright? Is there a bump?" He was so very gentle, moving his fingers around the back of Aoki's head. Aoki felt his didn't deserve it. Had that been too much, too soon?
"Sorry, I didn't mean to..." He didn't know how to apologize for kissing Ida so suddenly. It had just been a moment of weakness and Ida had asked what they should do while dating! Why had he just wanted to be brave in that moment?! If Ida wasn't touching him, he would have gone back to squirming pathetically against the wall.
"It's okay, you don't have to apologize for banging your head." Ida said simply, obviously misunderstanding what the other boy was saying. Aoki bit his lip, trying not to stupidly blurt out anything else. Ida didn't look mad or anything, so maybe the slight kiss had been fine? They were boyfriends after all? Maybe his momentary panic was unnecessary?
What should he ask then? They had been talking about what you do when dating, right? This morning those two from his class had been eating breakfast together all cutely on the roof. Could he and Ida do that? Be all cute and privately snuggle while eating? Or even, just sit and chat together while enjoying the cool air? Aoki would like that. He'd like anything he could do with Ida.
Aoki sucked in a deep breath, he was tempted to smack his head again just to distract himself. No. That was an overreaction. He should just ask. They were dating, and he'd seen other couples eat lunch together while dating. It was perfectly normal thing to do. If Ida didn't want to, he'd say that and if he was to busy, he'd tell Aoki when he was free. Because his boyfriend was a good guy. Aoki could trust him. His mom had said communication in relationships was important.
"Can we eat lunch together then?" Aoki rushes out and is surprised that he doesn't stumble over the words. It makes him somewhat proud of himself.
Ida blinks at him and then smiles. Aoki's heart leaps at the expression and he tries not to squirm with he overflowing butterfly like feeling in his stomach. "That sounds good. Let's go to the roof then, so we can have some peace and quiet."
"Oh that's- are you sure you don't want to go with your friends instead?" Aoki said automatically and then flinched at his own hopefulness. It wasn't that he wanted to be put first or anything, but he didn't want Ida to disappoint his friends just to be with him. They could go tomorrow instead and the Ida could tell his friends about being busy today.
Ida frowned at him and then grabbed ahold of Aoki's hand. Like he was a bit angry to see that Aoki thought he should go to his friends. "You're my boyfriend." Ida simply said and Aoki really wished that he would elaborate more on that.
"?" Aoki didn't say anything back to that, but didn't glance at the their hands. They were holding hands! This was, the best? Aoki was so happy? He- oh, Ida was totally talking again.
"I want to do my best to put you first Aoki. You are, important to me." Ida says, finally smiling at him and then squeezes Aoki hand lightly. The connection between them as a wonderful thing.
"You!" Aoki started and then his brain felt like it malfunctioned or something. Ida huffed out a tiny laugh, like he always seemed to do when Aoki did something remarkably stupid. It gave him a second to collect himself and try speaking again. "You're important to me too. Like- I'll always remember." He tried.
Aoki realized that was a bit sad and that it probably sounded like he expected them to break up. Well, they were pretty young. He wanted to be with Ida for as long as he could. That this daring and cute relationship they had would last forever. He was- his days had been so happy lately and he looked forward to every time he got to see Ida. It was great. He didn't think he'd ever been this happy to go to school before.
Ida paused for a moment. "I'll always remember you too. Of course, I'd prefer to continually keep you close." He admitted.
Was that Aoki's face burning red with a blush? It probably was, but he didn't back away or run. How could he do either of those things with his handsome boyfriend holding his hand? If Ida wanted to be brave, then Aoki wanted to as well. He shot forward and pecked Ida on the cheek again, kissing his boyfriend for the second time. It felt even more right now that he'd experienced it once before.
"Promise?" He shakingly asked. Just a little bit more in love with Ida then he'd been even the morning before.
"Promise." Ida assured him, squeezing their entangled hands together and giving his boyfriend a small smile.
Aoki wished that the moment could have lasted forever, but the bell still rang for next class. Kind of unfair, if you would ask Aoki. He just wanted more time with his boyfriend. Lunch couldn't come soon enough.
