Work Text:
It’s Friday, the yellow sun is streaming in from the window, his legs still sprawled under the sheets as he watches Jungkook fumble with his watch in front of him.
Taehyung thinks he will never get used to the sight of his boyfriend in his work clothes—white collared shirt, tight black pants and hair combed so handsomely. It’s been years since they moved in, and he’s proud to say they’re still as smittened as they are with each other when they first met.
He sees Jungkook glancing at the clock, eyes widening. “Oh! Gotta go.”
Taehyung is feeling quite playful that morning. He remembers scrolling TikTok yesterday and stumbling upon a video of a girl doing the ‘Not saying I love you back to BF’ challenge on his boyfriend, and it’s been on his mind ever since. The video was just so cute.
He smiles mischievously to himself before reaching for his phone, opening the camera. Jungkook’s reaction will be amusing.
“Okay, bye bye!” Taehyung says as Jungkook grabs his blazer from the chair and strides towards the door, all the while following his movement with his iPhone camera.
“Love you, bye bye.” Jungkook twists the doorknob, and the door opens.
“Bye.” Taehyung replies back, hiding his phone a little. He tries not to laugh when Jungkook stops halfway through the door like he expected, slowly turning his body around. He stares at Taehyung with a confused face.
“I love you.”
Taehyung is trying his best to not melt into a puddle right on the spot. But he’s not a weak man, not at all. “Yeah, bye. Ciao bellow!”
Jungkook is still staring at him as he closes the door, and Taehyung secretly giggles inside. He didn’t think his plan would work this well.
Before the door could fully close, Jungkook suddenly pushes it back with one swift move and now it’s wide open again. He steps back inside between the lines of the room and looks at Taehyung. “Babe, I’m leaving.”
Taehyung waves a hand. “Yeah, I know. Have a nice day. Go, enjoy! Bye bye.”
Jungkook’s face is still skeptical as he slowly closes the door, peeking his head through the gap a little. “I love you.”
“Byee!”
And then Jungkook is pushing the door again, this time slipping half of his upper body inside and aggressively yells: “I love you!”
He closes the door quickly, still not fully closed and Taehyung is literally dying at the fact that Jungkook is staring back through the small gap like a puppy stranded outside. So adorable. “I know, bye bye.”
All of a sudden the door is pushed back forcefully, Jungkook sliding in with a hard frown on his face. He harshly throws his blazer down on the mattress and Taehyung wills himself not to break right then and there. “Babe, I said I love you!”
He drags the ‘you’ a little with a whiny tone. The bottom of his lip is pushed out, pursed in a pout, face all confused. He’s so cute.
“I know...” Taehyung pouts back.
Jungkook aggressively reaches for the nearest pillow and hugs it to his chest, clenching it tightly with his palms. His pout deepens further. “Say it back!”
God, you would think Jungkook is stony and intimidating by looking at his appearance, piercings everywhere and all tattooed. It really gives off a someone-not-to-be-messed-with impression—when in truth, he’s just a baby that’s always demanding attention and kisses from Taehyung with a purposefully pouty face and puppy eyes. It’s hard not to give in when his boyfriend is practically a living epitome of softness.
“I love you too.” Taehyung smiles, mirth playing in his eyes.
Jungkook chucks back the abused pillow on bed and frowns hard at Taehyung. “I love you.”
Taehyung laughs, no longer having the energy to keep his amusement in. Oh, this is so fun. Jungkook is practically seething and giving him a death stare as if he just committed the greatest sin in the universe. If looks could kill, maybe he’d be dead by now. “Okay, okay. Bye baby.”
Instead of walking out the door, Jungkook promptly throws himself onto Taehyung, making him yelp. He snatches his phone away and puts it far away from them.
Jungkook plops himself on top of Taehyung, hands planted on both sides of his face as he stares down at him sullenly. “Why won’t you say it back? Is it because I ate all of your pudding yesterday? Is that the reason why?”
What! Taehyung doesn’t even know Jungkook ate all of his pudding yesterday. And he had explicitly told him not to do that too… “First of all, no, that's not the reason why. Second of all, what? Did you really ate all the puddings?”
“Then tell me why you aren’t saying it back!” Jungkook completely ignores the second question.
Taehyung giggles toothily and hits him on the shoulder. He guesses that’s enough fooling him for today. “Ha, silly. I got you! I was just doing a TikTok challenge and you fell right into it.”
Jungkook’s face turns from a frown, to confusion, before he seemingly registers Taehyung’s words in his head and now he looks comically betrayed. “You…”
And then Taehyung is suddenly attacked with tickles all over his body. He bursts out in laughter, instinctively tucking his knees close to his chest as Jungkook keeps on tickling him. “W—wait! Stop! Go to work, you menace!”
“What if I die, huh? What if I get in a car accident on the way there? And then you’ll regret not saying I love you back to me for the rest of your life.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes playfully. Gosh, Jungkook and his overly-dramatic theatrics. “Okay okay, I love you!”
Jungkook smiles boyishly and Taehyung feels his heart soaring up in his throat. The sun rays from outside makes his boyfriend’s skin glow a golden honey so beautifully.
He wants to kiss him breathless, so that’s what he does as he wraps his arms around Jungkook’s neck before pulling him down to capture his lips.
Taehyung feels Jungkook smiling briefly when they kiss, immediately parting his mouth slightly to give his tongue access. It’s gentle, slow, and full of love. Perfect for a Friday morning.
“I love you.” Jungkook mumbles into his lips.
Taehyung sighs, content. “I love you more.”
Maybe it doesn’t hurt if he were to do another prank on Jungkook after this, just to see his chucklesome reaction.
