"Since when do villains get away with punching The Batman in the face, hmm?"
Hal said with some frustration as he gently touched Batman's cheek with a cloth.
"Since you."
Bruce calmly stated without blinking.
Hal slowly pulled the fabric away from that bruised face and gazed at his mouth which twitched slightly upwards into a small smile.
"Don't see how this is funny."
Bruce's hand reached over to touch Hal's wrist, and he stared at it intently for a few seconds.
"It's not particularly amusing, however I find myself to be reckless for you."
Hal's eyes widened.
"What?"
Bruce pulled his hand to his armored chest plate and the Lantern saw how those blue eyes became distracted, as he seemed to recall a memory.
"You often make sound decisions only after you find yourself in a dangerous situation; I used to deal with it better, but now I often want to take the first blow before you get yourself seriously hurt."
Hal's breath almost stopped as he grunted in irritation, and tried to pull his arm away, but Bats was holding it tight.
He glared at him, trying find something to say, something that would stop his face from getting all warm. Why would Bruce decide to do that? The Green Lantern was one of the strongest superheroes and his plans were damn good. It was embarrassing, even though part of Hal secretly was melting at the admission.
Hal reached over with his other hand and gently curled his fingers to the back of Bruce's neck.
He would always protect the entire sector and that would always include Bruce too.
"I'm the one that wants to protect you no matter what, so don't get yourself in a tight spot purposely because of me."
Bruce's eyes widened so barely that only Hal could tell that he was surprised.
"Hal..."
He moved closer, so he could feel the other man's chest against his suit.
"Yeah, okay, look, I'll try not to worry you too much, alright?"
He moved his lips a little closer towards that mouth. It was too tempting. He hoped he could just give him a small kiss.
Bruce was staring at him hard, as if he was actually figuring out some equation, but then he frowned.
"Slim chance."
Hal sighted but smiled at the way Bruce was overly protective and then he felt those soft lips pressing lightly against his own.
